Absolutely lovely site, everyone we met were polite and friendly. This site as child and dog friendly and clean, bathrooms were a little cold if you wanted to shower in the evening.

Pool was by booking only but worked well and was always space available. Access to private beach was very uneven and not for anyone unsteady on their feet.

Owners very helpful and lots of maps and leaflets for local events etc. Definitely worth a visit although prices do rise sharply around bank holidays and school holiday.

We will be back again,

This is a great value site, with clean facilities and friendly, helpful staff. I was impressed with the free, indoor pool. The toilet block was spotless. Hook-up and all the family only £12/night.

The view of trees and the Bristol channel is lovely, just 1 row of static between the tent/tourer terraces. We had no problems with the entry road-the kids always enjoyed looking for camels!

The only thing not perfect (& I'm being picky!) is there are quite a few statics on the site. This is not an issue, unless you prefer a small, touring only site.

The staff were always happy to help.

I'd recommend the nearby Chantry at Kilve beach for your cream tea :)

We chose this site for an out of season break and had a really nice friendly email which got things off to a good start. The email told us where to go on arrival and which pitch we were on. Unfortunately, we didn't arrive until early evening and made the mistake of pitching in the wrong place (reception had already closed when we arrived). The person who spoke to my husband asking him to move was a bit abrupt and not very welcoming. We felt very disappointed by this given the friendly tone of the email we'd had upon booking.

We were pitched on the top terrace which is tarmac and gravel - great for all year round caravanning but the width of the 'road' is VERY narrow. We struggled to reverse our caravan onto the pitch as the length of our unit was longer than the pitch and width of the access road so we had to reverse at an angle. My husband

Helped another couple push their van onto their pitch as well. The small grassed terrace below our terrace looks like it's used for tents but it would have made access easier to have had a wider road on the top terrace.

The site has a small shop and you have to ask at reception out of season as it's not staffed. We felt we were inconveniencing the person in reception to have a look although we did buy something. The pool looked lovely but we didn't use it. There is also a bar that was open on the Friday and Saturday evening from 8pm although we didn't go in. The beer garden looked like it would be nice to sit out in, in the warmer months.

A chip van visited on the Saturday evening - food was freshly cooked to order. Try the king prawns with sweet chilli sauce - not cheap but delicious.

The beach is only a 10 min walk down a slope but if the tide's in the beach is totally covered.

The washblock was up a slope and some steps - it was very clean but it did take the majority of my first 20p for the water to come through hot. The toilet cubicles are also quite narrow!

We felt that the pitch prices were very reasonable but the £2 per dog was a little expensive but we may return for an out of season or low season break.

This was my third visit to home farm and I still love it.

We stayed for 9 nights, with a mixture of wind/rain and beautiful sunshine. The pitches are laid out in terraces, so it feels more secluded than being in a field of caravans row after row.

We went with another 4 families and we didn't feel like we were intruding on anyone else, very safe for the children.

The pool is fab, very pretty place, duck pond, a little stream and the newly build tree house was a big hit with the kids .My woffer thoroughly enjoyed himself, nice walks and he loved the beach. In the other field there is a mini stongehenge with fabulous views and the walk up the hill helps to tire the kids out

The kids got plenty of crabbing in, also found some fantastic fossils. Beware of the cliffs a large part fell when we were there. Not a problem just don't go too close.

If you are looking for a relaxing holiday, this is the place for you. Back to basics, make your own fun. Lots of duck, duck goose.

I have searched for cheaper places, but I cannot find anything that can match home farm.

At only £25 per night for six people in the summer holidays you will not find anywhere cheaper with a beach and a swimming pool. The cheaper costs allowed us to stay for 9 nights rather than the usual 7.

There is not much in the local area to do, but we are happy to stay on the site only reluctantly venturing out for provisions.

Great place will be returning.

This site was idyllic! We were rather concerned about the road down to the site (from previous reviews) but if you go steady and look for the posts either side of the ramps you will be fine.

This is mainly a static caravan site which made it even better for the touring caravans as we never bumped into anyone in the toilet/shower block (which were always spotless, we wiped the sinks after use as we felt guilty for messing them up).

The staff were extremely helpful and informative, the shop was really handy and the croissants and French sticks were delightful. The site itself was spectacular with stunning views and beautifully kept grounds, fantastic kids playground and tree house (our 8 year old loved them both).

Swimming pool was excellent addition and the 10 people rule made it really private, even my 16 yr old son swam every day!The pub was quaint with plenty of seating, there was entertainment (band, quiz, disco) during our stay.

Cant wait to come back and visit as soon as! October hopefully!

Just returned from our second August Bank Holiday break and found the site to be just as we remembered it. The toilets and showers in the small block were clean and well stocked with loo roll and soap. The showers were nice and warm.

Our only criticism was that the area by the dishwashing sink at the small block was a bit smelly (probably due to the close proximity of the chemical disposal point). We had a brilliant tent pitch and went swimming a couple of times.

What we did discover this year was a great taxi company called Data Cabs. The number is by the reception and we used them a few times to get into Watchet for a meal so that we could sample the real ales and ciders in 'The Star' (highly recommended!). It costs £6.50 each way, which is a bit pricey for a 2 mile journey, but this is a two man taxi company and both drivers are very reliable.

All in all the campsite is a great base for exploring Exmoor and the surrounding area. Another great stay!

What a fantastic place. The kids have officially named it their favourite holiday (that beat Disney!?) We loved the place. The local countryside is stunning with lots of walks. Lots of places to visit too!

The drive could do with a system - perhaps a warning light or a phone call to the office. We met a small caravan on the way in and they struggled to let us past! The drive is good but narrow and with speed bumps you only want to roll over gently or risk damage! oddly on site there are less bumps (so drivers tend to whizz about!) There was no welcome pack offered - I had to ask for it?

The pitches were hard standing or grass and fully serviced with water, drainage and electric. The hard standing was a bit extreme - great when it rained but you need a drill to get the awning up and there wasn't room for the awning extension. We had to use gravel to hold one corner down! But it was very dry and flat. Our advice park caravan half on gravel!

The owners are nice and willing to talk if chatted to but I wouldn't say they were relaxed. There were a few embarrassing moments where people were told off - I felt perhaps a less sharp approach that drew less attention would be nicer - mistakes happen!

The bay is wonderful spoilt only by occasional nasty dog owners allowing fouling. The sea goes out a long way and reveals sweeping lines of rock and sand but best of all lots of rock pools! When the sea is out it is hard to reach!

There is a stunning waterfall from a tiny stream that runs through the camp site. This means there are silted areas on the beach to look out for (or risk slipping over into a big silt splat) they are easily avoided by the rock runways and it adds to the fun! When the sea is in there is a risk of getting stuck so stay close to the steps. It is all pebbles near the cliff - Stay away from the cliff face and the remains of the wall - hard to get through to teen ages but it is crumbling! If you are frail the walk to and from the beach will be tough if at all possible - the lane is steep and the steps worn!

The park has a pub that's open day and evening in summer peak but less in off peak - it has a BBQ on some nights which is very good (chips too). But no other cooked food which is a shame as even cakes, sandwiches and salads would have been nice. A good fish and chip van turns up on Sat night - get the phone number and book food on thurday as the wait is endless! The shop is packed with lots of great stuff from essentials to toys, maps to postcards! There is a post box and if you stay there a postal service!

WARNING - the play park that is so great is in the pub garden - our kids were asked were asked to leave if we weren't in the pub or garden!

The swimming pool is brilliant! Watch out though - you have to pre book 30 min slots and swimming aids only - nothing else is allowed - you supervise your kids. Oddly no one noticed people overrunning but did notice a ring that was too big. It closed at 6pm but this too appeared to be ignored!

The facilities for tourers were great. 2 big washers and tumble dryers (although they didn't really dry the washing machines were good! The family/disabled shower and loo is great if you have kids or are too big to fit into the normal loos! The loos are very narrow you need to grab paper before you sit down. I'm 16 stone any bigger and it'd be impossible - perhaps 1 less loo and more space?

The showers were spacious and only 20p but I recommend running the hot water in the taps or taking 2x20p as I was first in and a whole 20p was used before the water was hot! Put your soaps on the dividing wall as no shelf! The washing up area is great but would be horrid in rain or winter as its totally exposed!

The price is perfect for a family - I guess a couple might moan but it was terrific value for 2 adults and 4 kids. We will be returning. Very peaceful and great value - better still the owners do seem to listen as when we arrived the speed bumps had white paint and clear white posts either side - some recent comments suggest they were unmarked. A slide was removed after my daughter pointed out a small cut caused by a peice of tatty wood!

I looked at the statics and cottages and I admit I was tempted to return later in life!

OH and explore because it's amazing what you find!

Reviewer: West Family 1 review from this member

We have just returned from a 10 day stay at this lovely site. The driveway as others have mentioned is very long and steep with several speed humps. If you are in a caravan we suggest you park up in the visitors car park round the corner from reception and book in as no layby or parking where reception is and you would cause a traffic jam.

On booking in we were a little dubious as the staff member was very vague about the facilities etc although she was very friendly. We were situated on the top terrace which is all hard standing. Highly recommend taking Rock pegs with you if you are pitching an awning as the gravel ground is solid!

Showers are situated a couple of levels up on the site and easy to find. The toilets and showers are immaculate and cleaned regularly. The toilet cubicles are very small and it is a complete pain that the loo roll dispensers are behind you! The showers are 20p. If you are the first of the day I recommend taking 40p as I used my first 20p waiting for the shower to warm up! In the ladies the right hand shower was definitely more reliable than the left! The pool was fantastic although you must remember to book in advance as it gets busy. The changing room at the pool has a shower in it too but a word of advice ladies the shower is right in view of the mens changing rooms if someone else opens the door to change we got caught out quite a few times!

Every Tuesday Thursday and Sat the site run a BBQ in the outside area by the bar. Very good value and lovely garden to sit in and a great safe play area for the children. On a Tuesday evening they also had entertainment for the kids. Cuthbert the clown. Very nice but my 2 children weren't overly impressed! On a Thursday evening they have a children's disco. On a Sat a fish and chip van comes and although a little pricey they were lovely.

We can highly recommend the Butchers Arms in Carhampton. The carvery on a Sunday was fantastic. £8.75 for Adults and £5.75 for kids. Very friendly and HUGE portions! IN general we loved this site. It is mainly static vans though so you have a lot of regulars that arrived during our stay. Curfew was supposed to be 10pm but we did have a few problems with the obvious regulars that thought it was ok to be really noisy and race up and down on their bikes and scooters until 11pm waking our 2 children and several other people. We did speak to the owners and they were very understanding and not shocked so I would say it is a regular ocurrance. Saying that they did sort it out and a warden came out in the evening at 10pm and asked the boys concerned to go home.

We had nice sea views although it does get windy when the tide comes in. We stayed with another 2 families one of which were camping. If you decide to camp, avoid pitches 11 and 10 (I think) they are right by the steps leading up to the top terrace so lots of people walking by. Lots of recycle bins and rubbish bins all over the site. Lovely walks. The shop was well stocked and you could order a daily paper and fresh bread.

We would definitely return. One last thing, if you decide to catch a bus to Watchet don't get caught out like we did. The bus driver let us buy a return ticket knowing we were not coming back until late afternoon but didn't tell us that the last bus back was at 3pm! We had to walk from Watchet back to the site and if you know the area the hill up to the site is now known in our house as Death Hill! It is very steep!

Agree with most of the points on below review. Easy to find site but the bumps are so severe our caravan electrics became unhooked our roof light broke and a dodgey cupboard we had fell clean off so we had a bit of sorting on arrival. We drove 5mph the whole way down.

I found reception lady to be friendly but didn't advise me on any facilities other than the loo block and if I wanted to swim I must book 24 hours in advance.

I was disappointed in the touring caravan pitches they are one terrace above the tent pitches mentioned below and I agree the tent pitches look like a spare strip of grass facing the carpark. The touring pitches are tarmac and gravel with no grass on this level so you feel like your on the car park looking at a car park with minimal sea views past the statics and large bushy trees.

The pitches are full service with ehu and water / waste and are big we had pitch 6 with bags of room for car van and awning.

The ladies block up the steps have 2 showers and 4 loos one shower had a lock that didn't lock and the temperature was cold till the end of your 20p. Ladies must take 40p if washing and conditioning hair - I power shower and you cant make it on 20p. On another day the showers were too hot from start to end.

I liked the beach for me with two big dogs it was like a private beach almost the whole weekend and you can walk to Watchet if you monitor the tide times and don't mind paddling over a river. Well worth the effort, head left I highly recommend The Star Inn - tucked down a side street at the end of the harbour, very friendly lovely beer garden, great beer and fab food. Dogs are extremely welcome inside and out. Everyone was very friendly.

Biggest reason I wont return to the site is you cant walk anywhere unless you risk the tide and walk along the coast as there are no footpaths and nothing is in easy walking distance. Also the total lack of anything to do, I like to relax but I like to leave the car too- we would have loved to sit in the camp site beer garden for a few or a meal but with short opening times and no food its simply no use, you really need to go self catering.

World Cup Also don't be fooled if you like footie - they advertised the England Match so we went hoping for a bit of friendly camper footie banter in the bar to find the bar empty and they had put a small 32' TV in the games room that's the size of my living room with approx 10 plastic chairs- no atmosphere at all and a couple of women even made them turn it down as it was too loud for them - then they left to sit in the main bar. I sat outside and moaned to the husband we would be better watching it at the van.

Sunday morning I was greeted by an abrupt woman. My dog had been for a few little poops on the gravel literally 5 mins before and hes a big dog so there was a couple of fresh ones and I was getting a bag as I always do to clean up when I saw her stonking across mumbling I explained and apologised. She retaliated by insisting this was a business and I must under no circumstances let my dogs doddle on the stones and I must walk them as pooping on the stones is against the rules. Well I'm sorry I didn't have a spare cork that morning and my dogs had been on stake outs for 10 mins as they could hardly walk we had taken them out ALL weekend. I'm a responsible dog owner who spends the weekend dog walking so I was very unhappy with her whole attitude.

I get the impression they want seasonal tourers and statics only - they have no nice pitches for tourers or tents visiting.

Minehead was OK for a drive out quieter than I expected but a nice clean side front. Dunster Castle is a no dogs allowed in any of the gardens so save planning it with dogs. Dunster village was very pretty not much there but we walked round the town a few times it was so pretty with a few shops and pubs.

I sound negative - I'm not we had a nice weekend the weather was fab and we loved it all in all - made our own entertainment even had a BBQ on the beach one night which was magical. I just think there are better sites in the area and feel disappointed I chose this one - it was pretty with mature trees but not really what I pictured from seeing their website.

I was a little disappointed with this site although I have to stress that my personal likes and dislikes may not be the same as others.

I found the site quite easily and my satnav even took me down the mile long driveway almost to the reception. Please be careful on the driveway since there are unmarked speed humps which due to the dappled sunlight coming through the trees are not easily spotted until the last minute - even at 10mph! There are also few passing places especially if towing.

Reception was very friendly but there was a distinct lack of information concerning the site itself or the local area. Shop on site selling a good selection of items.

The website shows a photograph of a brick built food servery which lead me to believe the site served food. I have no idea where this was but on asking I was told no food was available anywhere on the site not even the bar. The bar itself was only open from 8pm to 11pm on the Friday and from 6.30pm on the Saturday for those people who obviously needed a drink more than food.

The nearest pub/restaurant was inaccessible on foot because the site driveway is a mile long uphill slog and the pub is at least another half a mile maybe more along very fast windy main roads with no footpaths. A mobile fish and chip van did arrive on the Saturday evening for a couple of hours but I have to say that within 3 hours of eating fish and chips I had quite a bad stomach upset. I obviously can't say that was the cause.

So be warned - take your own food and cooking facilities or be prepared to have to drive out.

The beach was equally unimpressive. At high tide it is inaccessible. As the tide recedes it reveals a very stoney beach similar to the photograph on the website but when the tide is out the 'beach' is a mess of eroded / damaged man made sea defences which form quite dangerous rocky channels with coarse red sand and rocks between. There are small rock pools and some sandy stretches but not a great place to spend the day. A much better place is Blue Anchor Bay a couple of miles along the coast towards Minehead.

Take heed of the warnings not to stand under the cliffs. There were two small falls of rock in the hour or so I spent there which would certainly have injured anyone standing below.

On site, I probably had the best tent pitch available although the site is terraced and mainly has static caravans and what appeared to be residential park homes. The tent pitch was on a flat topped grassy bank or terrace above a car park (no cars allowed next to the tents) with glimpses of sea views between the clifftop trees below. Behind and above me were touring caravans and motorhomes on rough hardstandings and above those, more statics. I felt as if I was occupying a spare bit of grass verge between car parks within a residential mobile home park. Not really very pleasant at all.

The toilet block was up two sets of steps across a couple of terraces. Not too difficult to access but probably not good for anyone with mobility difficulties. The block itself was like entering a railway carriage. 3 shower compartments on the left hand side followed by 3 toilet cubicles. On the right hand side were just two sinks and two urinals (in the gents of course).

The toilet cubicles are so narrow that I almost had to reverse in (and I am quite a slimish person) and the toilet paper dispenser is on the wall above the cistern behind and almost impossible to get at when seated. I think the secret is to grab a few sheets before sitting down. There were no hooks in the cubicles for hanging clothing / washbags / towels. These need to be left outside in the main area and there were only a few hooks just inside the door there.

There is one shaver point over one of the sinks so if the sink is in use you have to wait for it to become vacant to access the shaving point. The water was never very hot and it was necessary to run much of it to waste before warm water emerged.

The facilities were kept exceptionally clean throughout the day. Perhaps 8.30 in the morning as campers are arising is not a good time to be cleaning them but I shouldn't complain about that.

The site was generally well maintained and clean. The bar does serve a nice pint when open and the staff and regulars are very friendly. I would say this is a reasonable site, perhaps a little expensive (although it does have a free swimming pool for those who swim) and ideal as a base for touring the area, and it is 'different' to say the least. I wouldn't particularly want to return though as it didn't tick my boxes.
