I recently spent a week at this site and we had a wonderful time. It is very friendly and welcoming with facilities that have very obviously been upgraded which includes wifi which was an unexpected bonus. The atmosphere is very friendly and informal and the surrounding area magnificent. Overall great value for money and we will be visiting again soon.

Had to register and leave a comment about our stay at Elford. Being quite apprehensive about other reviews on here we didn't think we would find much but how wrong! This site has obviously had issues in the past but the owners must have taken this on board. A brand new shower/toilet/laundry block, great spacious environment, and free Wifi. The Wifi was limited so couldn't watch films etc but I suppose this is to be expected on a free facility. The surrounding area is a hive of days out and attractions. The nearest town is Seahouses and is a 'magnet' for tourists, a pleasure to spend the day there. We made a trip to close by Bamburgh Castle and the beach. The cherry on the cake for us was the little lambs in the field next door (being Easter and all!).
A true little gem. Will definitely be back.

OWNER SPEAKING
In April 2014 we installed a new toilet and shower block for which we have had much praise. We also installed free Wi-Fi throughout the site which is proving to be very popular. The management style is non-intrusive with few rules and restrictions and the prices quoted are all inclusive.
This is a quiet family site and very safe for children.

Well located though the road from the A1 is bumpy and windy. Within easy reach of nice sandy beaches and many local attractions.
Site itself is pleasant enough when quiet, HOWEVER, name of site misleading, there was a tent city in the middle of the site for much of our stay, which did increase the noise level, as well as the use of the 'facilities' quite substantially. I can imagine the site may be a bit of a nightmare full. As for the facilities, I can't believe that this bloke gets away with charging what he does, I guess once people arrive and pay up, or worse still pay a deposit in advance, they grin and bear it as we did. The toilets are really grotty and have not seen a good clean for a long time. Showers themselves are new and decent, but the tiles have that pinky orange residue all over them, from months of use with no cleaning. Water goes everywhere as there are no curtains - a godsend really though, given that they wouldn't be cleaned either - and the ancient mop does nothing to deal with the bibical flood left every time anyone has been in the shower. Two loos and one shower per sex on a site of this size is insufficient, yet to top it all the owner has put up signs telling customers to limit the time in the shower to four or five minutes to think of other guests.
As for the chemical disposal, it's slap bang in the middle of the path to the toilet block and consists of a wooden cover where there would usually be a manhole cover plus a standpipe to flush with. Delightful.
I may have taken all this up with the owner, but considering he only turns up to collect payments or tow people's stored caravans onto pitches he's a wee bit hard to get hold of.
Basically this guy is raking it in for very little work - what a shame, this site could easily be really great.

This is a working farm, and I think that the owner should stick to farming, as he is just not interested in the management of this site, about 2/3 miles inland of Seahouses, on arriving the drive through the gate to site has low hanging tree branches which could damage to roof of a motor home, the owners house has a large do not disturb sign on the entrance, the site although very uneven has plenty of EHUs, owners with dogs are allowing dogs to run after balls etc, and I saw dogs mess, they is a old farm building in which the toilets and laundry is situated, the toilets 2 cubicles in men's with a crack in the seat one had no paper and the seats are decorated with stick on transfers not very hygienic, 2 wash basins and only one Mira electric shower without a curtain hence water soaks the drying area, the whole place is in need of some decoration, I was first to visit the toilet early morning to find the ceramic bowls not clean and a splash of blue chemical cleaner was suffice, same with the one urinal, my wife said the ladies was similar and got the same treatment. The laundry and pot cleaner looked good but did not use, but the worst was the Chemical toilet disposal, a drain in the centre of the main pathway with a wooden lid, no privacy no flush and no water just a stand pipe without a hose attachment about a yard away, sorry to say it needs to be brought into this century, I would not go back, pity as it could be made good with a small investment and some management training.

Stayed on this farm/site for a long weekend. It is a very quiet site 2.5 miles from Seahouses and 3.5 miles from Bambrough, both good to walk to. Having read the other reviews I was watching for dog muck but did not see a single bit (great) obviously when the odd person does not properly supervise there pet accidents will occur. The other issue was the showers, when I used them I did notice that the owners had fully replaced the mens and womens shower units, the cubicles were clean but could have done with a lick of paint.
Other than this we had a brilliant weekend. Try the middle pub in Bambrough for your kippers ans brown bread, lovely, and the Bambrough castle in Seahouses for your haddock and chips. The surrounding area is spot on and the beaches are lovely, if you like a quiet beach, do try the one just south of Seahouses golfcourse down to Beadnel bay, great!

Arrived spring bank - site over busy - had to use splitters on electric hook ups so easily tripped when both units cooking or using heating on cool evenings. Toilets only cleaned once through week, had to provide toilet roll as none in toilet block. Only one shower which wet the whole toilet block floor leaving it very slippy, mop provided looked 20yrs old. Site expensive for facilities provided.
Surrounding area lovely, nearest shop in Seahouses (4 miles away). Enjoyed the holiday and would return to the area but not this site.

I am not a complainer - written a couple of glowing reports on other sites, but on this occasion agree with other's comments. Toilet block is dirty, run down and the 3 nights we were there, wasn't cleaned. Another caravan guest managed to obtain a toilet roll from somewhere. Although spoke to the owner twice, there was no hot water in the showers. We were advised after the first night, they were to be repaired - didn't happen. Although responsible dog owners ourselves, surprised at the amount of dogs running around off the lead. Also dog mess an issue. Kids seem to make the toilet block their base. Dog walks round the site were really good. We were charged extra as it was the Easter Weekend - not quite sure why as there are almost no facilities in the toilet block. I probably would go back as the location is very soon - not far into Seahouses, which is lovely, as is the surrounding area. It would need to be a very hot spell if I were to go back, where a cold shower would be acceptable.

Stayed here over the August Bank Holiday, so the site was just about full to capacity.
Facilities are very dated, only one shower in ladies and gents. Despite the site being full this didn't seen to cause a problem. However the floor did tend to get very dirty and waterlogged. Needs to be cleaned more often during busy periods. Plenty of hot water for the shower, sinks and pot wash.
Site was reasonably flat, but some pitched did have a slope, so wedge chocks required. Most pitches had hookups, no hardstanding.
Suggest owner needs to put up a sign about dog mess, i. E. Pick it up!. There was dog mess everywhere.
Perhaps suggest dog owners keep dogs on leads. (many did, but a lot allowed dogs to run about)
Site within easy reach of beaches, Seahouses 2miles (for supermarket) and Bamburgh 4 miles. Quiet and peaceful with little traffic noise.
