We stayed here during the August school holidays. I was expecting a very cramped site and was very surprised to find there was ample space between all the pitches.
There isn't a play area, but my 2 sons thoroughly enjoyed the freedom a small campsite can offer young children. The shower block is adequate but dated.
There is only one shower in the female block and the water tends to run out into the rest of the toilet area. That said, it didn't seem to worry anyone and I only ever waited a few minutes for the shower. At £15 per night in August I felt like we had good value for money in a lovely location.
Elford is a working farm in a very quiet location but still close enough to Seahouses and Bamburgh. We thoroughly enjoyed a visit to Alnwick Castle and Gardens. A family ticket is £50 but this gives you a 2 day pass.
The children loved playing in the water fountains, towels and swim shorts recommended.

The best I can say for this site is that the owner was a nice amiable chap. Unfortunately he was not on site other than an hour or so each day so there was no real control over the site.
You pitched wherever you thought fit on arrival, it was very busy whist we were there and obviously some people arrived expecting electrical hook up pitches when there were non available.
Unsupervised children played in and around the toilets, the grass was cut but the cuttings were left on the grass and got trodden into your own caravan and into the toilet facilities.
The elsan disposal was a manhole cover right in the path of the toilet block access and where children played and there was only one shower for each of male & female so you had to pick your time.
We walked in the area quite a lot and passed some far better looking sites closer to Seahouses.
Sorry, but I wouldn't recommend this site.

Have just come back from this site having had a relaxing 3 nights. The site is clean and tidy and the owner was very nice.
The field is a bit uneven but nothing that a wheel wedge couldn't cope with and yes the toilets are a bit small for the size of the site but I never noticed any problems with them.
The one shower was clean and working perfectly. I'll happily give it 9 out of 10 and I intend to go back there soon.
Seahouses is a bit of a let down. The prices are a too high for the area and all I can say is shame on you seahouses. Take a picnic everybody.

Positives: Site was very sheltered to the strong westerly winds that struck the area during our stay. The site is peaceful with nice views over the fields and close to some very beautiful beaches. All pitches have electric hook up at no additional cost.
Negatives: Facilities are very dated and not particularly clean. The toilet block is quite small which means that it can get quite crowded at times.
I would visit the site again as for me the positives out weighed the negatives, however if spotlessly clean facilities is a priority this probably isn't the site for you.

We were only staying from monday to friday but ended up staying until sunday. We didn't have bad weather and as the week went on more people came on sit
Toilets were not too bad, clean at the start, but the owner cut the grass and when people were using the toilets they were dragging the grass cuttings in with them.
We had a very scenic view, we had the sea in front of us and sheep and lambs behind us, but the only thing missing is a park for the children to play on, so make sure you have plenty for the children to play with.
The beach is not far and is ideal for a good long stroll with your dogs. It wont be long before we go back and we will make sure we take the bikes next time.

Lovely quiet site. Have been a few times and it is never overcrowded. Near to Seahouses and 45 minute trip to Berwick. Would definitely go again.
The toilet/shower block was clean and never had to wait.
Lots of electric hook ups available when every other site was fully booked for weeks ahead, which is due to school holidays.
Can't wait until they are all back at school so we can book new sites.

We stayed here for three nights back in July 2007. The site was basic but nice enough, and wasn't too busy either.
Toilet Block: Not too bad. Again, it was basic, but clean and the shower was alright - not fantastic, but passable for a campsite shower. There was also a hairdryer.
Field: When I rang to book, the man told me that tents were to go on the outside of the field, and to just set up camp. He said he'd come round in the mornings for the fees. When we arrived, it was a rectangular field with a ring road going through it. There were a few caravans on the field (in the centre of the road), and no-one on 'border' bit on the outside of the road. With no-one being around to ask, we set our tent up on the edge of the centre field, assuming this was what he meant. When we were just about finished, the farmer appeared and told us we should have gone onto the border area. Luckily he didn't ask us to move it! The field was okay, fairly flat and we didn't have too much trouble getting the pegs into the ground. The edge of the field overlooks a farmers field, and there's a lovely view.
Atmosphere: It was quite quiet the weekend we were there, but the other campers were courteous and friendly. We were still fairly new to camping, so our next-door neighbours lent us a couple of bits and pieces that we'd forgotten to bring, which was nice. We also had trouble with our portable BBQ one night, and everyone gathered round to lend a hand.
Location: Seahouses is a few minutes drive away, and its lovely. Bamburgh isn't much further, and we spent a beautiful sunny afternoon sunbathing on Bamburgh beach, overlooked by the castle. There's some lovely walks around there too I believe, but this was before we got our dog, so didn't do too much walking! The weather was boiling all weekend (a rare treat!) so it did bring out the best in the site and the local towns that we visited. We didn't get the opportunity to go up last summer, but would like to go back this year.

We stayed here for one night, and found it quite basic. The owners are friendly enough, but there are some confusing signs near the entrance which seemed to suggest you shouldn't go up to the main house to announce your arrival - of course, we had to do this, and weren't told off for it - so I think this site would benefit from better signposting for new arrivals.
The toilet/shower facilities aren't brilliant. They are reasonably clean, but, it being our last day on the road, we decided to wait until we got home to shower... We were also a bit concerned that the drinking water tap might be confused with the waste disposal tap as there was no clear signage, and the waste tap was the most obvious one. There is a laundry room with washer and dryer, and a sink, but no place designated for dish washing - I ended up washing our dishes in the laundry room sink and getting some funny looks from fellow campers. This probably isn't an issue for those with vehicles with more sophisticated on-board plumbing, but it was for us.
On the plus-side, this would be an excellent base for a cycling or walking holiday - there are loads of quiet country roads with marked cycle/walking routes, and the site is only about 5 or 10 minutes drive from Seahouses, which has excellent fish and chips (or even haggis and chips if you prefer), and a curious mixture of puffins and ducks swimming side by side in the harbour! It's also within easy reach of local attractions like Bamburgh Castle, and the beautiful seaside village Newton-by-the-Sea which is well worth the visit.

August 2004 Stayed for a week after discovering our site of choice was water-logged (It has been a very wet season). This site was quite wet in parts so wellies were essential. The location was wonderful, views of the sea at a distance and lovely and peaceful at night. The site was sheltered to the strong winds we had as well - this sounds more like a weather report as I continue!
The only downside was the condition of the facilities block. The 2 ladies toilets are basic but clean (taking in account the muddy field en-route) with one shower which takes 50p for 8 mins. I decided just to use our 'van shower all week but my husband said of the 8 mins, 7 mins was needed for the mens shower to warm up!
Our experience with the laundry facilites was mirrored by several campers, the door to the washing machine gets stuck. We spent 45 mins trying to open it before a we were informed a new door catch was on order and it needed a hefty pull upwards to get into it. Finally got our washing out to find that the tumble dryer didn't work - grrr. A sign saying this would have gone a long way to help!
Overall as an answer to our emergency requirements it was in an excellent position but the facilities on offer could do with a bit of TLC.
