A really nice site. Site managers are really pleasant and helpful and the site is totally flat but you'll need good pegs in places as it's pretty firm under foot. The chip van visited while we were there - not a bad fry at all.
Facilities are good - always clean but thats the standard the C&CC set for others to, hopefully, follow.
Slingsby as very little in it (apart from a very class cars dealership!) but the local shop is good and you can also walk down the old trackbed to another nearby village. (Can't comment on pubs - we dont use 'em.)
We did most of our shopping in nearby Malton (hint - park on Morrisons or Lidl) and visited Eden Camp.
Overall - the site and area has everything you need.

A small, well kept and quiet site (except for the cockerel next door at 4:00 am!)usual C & CC standards and very helpful staff. The pitches are well maintained and free-draining, but beware, the pitches are on the site of the old railway trackbed and yard, so you may need good strong tent/awning pegs. Good local facilities are close-by in the pretty village of Slingsby(shop & pub) and the site is an excellent centre for walking and visiting Helmsley, Malton, Pickering and The North Yorks Moors. They could do with some recycling facilities though, as all waste had to go in the same bins.
All in all, a lovely little site, we will definitely be returning!

Quiet site with friendly and helpful wardens. All pitches have electric hookups, some pitches are hardstanding. Toilet block in the middle of the site was upto usual C&CC standards, though probably not big enough for peak times.
A mobile fish & chip van visits the site on a Saturday afternoon, yes they were nice! Site is a short walk into the village where there is a little shop and a pub - good food, friendly atmosphere. There are plenty of public footpaths from the site and we walked to the village of Hovingham with a stop in the tea room before returning. The site is close to Malton, Helmsley and Castle Howard so most people should find something to do.
We would certainly return to the site again!

Site staff as usual very helpful & friendly since it is a camping caravan club site.
Toilets very clean & a good size since the site it quite small.
Site clean generally but where we pitched it was in front of a sewerage farm. A constant smeell when outside. But got used to it.
Only stayed one night testing my folding camper out.
Other problem poor lighting at the far end of the site, would not want to walk that far without a torch.
Overall not a bad site but dont think we will go again.

We spent two weeks on this site and really enjoyed it. The managers were very helpful and the facilities were excellent. The site is built on part of an old railway line which continues the other side of the lane, making a wonderful dog walk where you can let your dog off the lead. We did go to the pub one lunchtime (we went in the rainy season!) but I'm afraid not very impressed - we had to sit in the garden because we had the dog and the pub dogs had messed all over the lawn. The village shop was well stocked and open quite useful hours. Slingsby is a very pretty little village and close to loads of things to do. Only about 6 miles from Malton where there are shops and supermarkets and about 18 miles for York. Beautiful area altogether. We would definitely go back

August 2005 Lovely quiet site located on the edge of the village. The site offers good size pitches which are all level, ideal for tents. Toilets and showers were immaculate. Would consider returning as this is a beautiful area, however this isn't the best site if you have lively children, like me.

May 2005 Fairly quiet site even though it was full. Friendy staff. There were children playing around the site but this was usually early in the evenings and became quiet again by about 9.00pm. Showers/toilets very clean and were free (hairdryer 20p). Although it was on the outskirts of the village the pub was only 5 - 10 minutes walk and the village shop probably 10 - 15 minutes (depends on how fast a walker you are). The pub served good basic food - fish & chips, sandwiches, lasagne etc and a variety of childrens meals. The shop was well stocked with practically anything to may require and excellent home made cakes. Excellent vacinity for visiting places like Castle Howard, Helmsley, Malton, Eden Camp, Pickering etc. Definately going back as we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

August 2004 This is a brilliant site. The site managers could not be more helpful. Facilities first class and an ideal site to visit for Castle Howard. Showers wonderful, washhand basins clean, well drained site (considering all the rain we had) all in all 10/10.
