A nice quiet site located close to the coastal path and a short drive from St Agnes. Gary & Loo who run the site are a great couple are friendly and welcoming. We originally booked in for 2 nights and ended up staying for 7.
Although close to the cliffs there was plenty of shelter from the wind. The facilities on the site are simple and clean. There is plenty to do nearby and has a camping shop just up the road if you have tent issues like we did.
Friendly and great value for money, would happily stay there again.

A very warm welcome from Gary & Loo. Clean and tidy small site on a slight slope. Ideal position for exploring Cornwall. This was our second visit and would recommend the site to those wanting a quiet family friendly atmosphere. Certain pitches (top of the main field) can be exposed to the elements; we are in need of new awning poles along with our neighbour. Having a change this year, however will return in the future.

Used the Blue Hills site again: As usual. The site did not disappoint
The planes were flying from Perranporth but as they are small, they are not intrusive like jets are.
The walk down to the beach is not too bad although the walk back should be taken steadily.
No 'bird song' in the toilet blocks this year. Instead we had some banal local radio station
The standard of welcome is excellent. Some sites we used over the last few weeks have been terrible on that score.
The site is isolated. There may be a local bus service but I did not enquire - that's my loss. Like a lot of sites in Cornwall, once you are there you may feel trapped, so the tenters and the caravanners will have the edge over motorhome users in that they can get out and about
Would I use the site again? Yes, roll on next year

Fantastic location between St Agnes and Perranporth. The footpath adjacent to the entrance is 5 minutes from the coast path and dramatic 200 foot cliffs.
Immaculate shower and washing facilities. Plus a couple of microwaves and loads of fridge/freezer space.Very handy. All the pitches had their own table/bench, which we also found incredibly useful.
There we're a couple of families letting their kids run riot around our tent till 11 P.M. After being on the road since 2 A.M. To reach the site, the noise was not really appreciated.
So we weren't permitted to go to sleep until they did.
Brilliant location, great facilities, big pitches and excellent value for money.

I stayed at this campsite for 5 nights as a base to walk part of the South West Coast Path. The site is lovely and quiet (despite being next to Perranporth Aerodrome I didn't hear a single plane, I expect it's only used during the day time).
There is a main field, for caravans, motorhomes and tents and two smaller fields, one on the left as you come into the site and the other next to the facilities block (this one is limited to tents only I think). I was given a choice of where to pitch and found the ground to be pretty flat, by Cornish standards! This is a small site but the facilities are very good.
The toilet block was always clean (and others have mentioned with the radio on quietly) and there was always plenty of hot water. The shower cubicles have wooden doors you can lock and then a shower curtain further back, so there is plenty of room to hang your clothes and towel without getting them wet. I wasn't there in the peak season but I never had to queue to use the shower.
There is also a fridge (with freezer shelf) and two microwaves which is all free to use, as well as washing machines for which there is a charge. There are also washing up sinks, with sponges and washing up liquid provided and soap is also provided at the sinks in the toilet block. Overall I thought the facilities were excellent for a site of this size and the owners clearly make an effort to think of the details and make sure it's all kept clean.
The site is accessed down a single track road, but there are passing places and it's the second site along the road. If you come from the direction of St Agnes, there is a sign off for Blue Hills Mine which I followed assuming it goes to the site - it does, but I wouldn't recommend it, as it's single track, has 1/3 hills (both up and down), hairpin bends and a *very* narrow width restriction where you pass a house. I think anything larger than an average sized car wouldn't make it so certainly avoid this route if coming with a caravan - it's actually marked 'unsuitable for motors' at the other end (as you turn right out of the site), but there isn't a sign at the other end.
Next to the entrance to the site is a gate with a footpath that joins the coast path. Just keep the site on your left then keep going on the tarmac road (I think part of the aerodrome next door) until you reach the coast. The views and sunsets from here are wonderful. If you turn left after about 3/4 of a mile (and some steep hills) you come to Trevaunance Cove which is a rocky and sand beach. There is a cafe and a nice pub here. The other way along the path will take you to Perranporth, about 2.5 miles away but lovely scenery.
Gary was on site most of the time until late at night and kept the site very clean and was friendly and laid back.
Overall, considering this is a small site (so you won't find a shop, playground etc.), it has excellent facilities is well looked after and well run. The only negatives really are there is no pub or shop within easy walking distance, but there are shops in St Agnes which is only a few minutes drive away.

This site is an old favourite. We've camped here on and off for about 15 years, but usually only for a few days. Low hedges and stone walls, very few trees, not lush and green as its cliff top terrain but lovely sea air.
The good points are the proximity to the beach, which can be walked to, either Trevaunance Cove (20 mins walk) or Trevellas (5-10 mins) - or you can climb to Trevaunance over the rocks when the tide is out from the much closer Trevellas (which is too rocky to swim from really, being careful to do this when the tide going out and not coming in as you can get cut off). Trevellas is a lovely walk in the evenings from the campsite down the old coast road with a tin mine and beautiful overgrown valley at the bottom - lot of slate and slag from the mine and gorse. This is easy for a BBQ on the very beautiful cove to watch the sun go down. Pitch black walking back though without a moon so torches needed.
Pubs and shops are a drive away.
The campsite has reasonable facilities but being on a cliff top, is windy and with the usual sea dampness, can be cold, especially at night. It is not as level as some sites - there is one small level section and some level pitches around a larger section, but the smaller field is very sloping and difficult to sleep at night in this one (as can't get the beds level enough).
When we camped it rained and our cheap nylon tent didn't have a SIG, so with the slight slope, we had a stream of water running through the middle of the tent which soaked everything. We were pitched close to the house at this time, so field perhaps not draining so well with the stones and compactness etc.
Aesthetically, its a naturally beautiful site, not too big, good for families and quite friendly. When we were there, there was a pop-up Cafe running on a few days too. Very dark sky, lovely hay field next door, but a fair way to the loo in the night across cold, longish grass and sharp gravel unless you are pitched close up to the loos which is not so quiet.

We stayed here over Easter with our family in two campervans and three tents. As others have said, the site owners are very helpful, easy going and friendly. They have got the mix of minimal rules and attention to detail just right.
They were happy for us to pitch tents next to the campervans and when we were having problems with the wind, they came to our rescue with the loan of a windbreak. The shower / toilet blocks are clean and have fresh flowers and piped music but best of all, the water is a constant hot temperature.
The cliff top walks into St Agnes and Perranporth are stunning and well worth the effort. Thank you Gary and Lou for a very enjoyable stay despite the wind and rain.

We stayed here for an overnight stay in March. The site is easy to find but you must follow the instructions given or risk getting stuck.
The coast path runs next to the site at the end of Perranporth aerodrome and the vista from the coast path is spectacular. We walked from the site to Perranporth and it took about an hour, it's an easy stretch. The beach at Perranporth is again brilliant stretching for quite a way.
We went the other way (left or west) from the campsite and headed down to Trevallis with the dog stunning views with lots to explore in the old mines.
The campsite itself was good enough for n overnight stay, it was a little cold at night and early morning so we gave the showers a miss. I would suggest that they get little stools in the showers for popping you towel on while showering. All the pitches seem to be on gentle slopes. The staff we did see, Gary was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this site to anyone.

My family and I recently returned from this site after an enjoyable two weeks away. We chose this site based on previous reviews and was not disappointed. Lou and Gary are really helpful and are always pleased to answer any questions you may have. The site is clean and well maintained and it was lovely to have fresh flowers in the loos in the morning. The site is also off the main road which means it a really nice quiet site although you do get the occasion small plane fly overhead from the nearby aerodrome (but hey! how many times can you say you get that sort of thing at home). Overall a highly recommended site that provides an ideal base for explore all Cornwall has to offer.
The site is situated well between St Agnes and Perranporth and is situated not far from the stunning cliff tops of the northern coast of Cornwall. A walk behind the site will lead to up to the cliffs and from here you can walk along the coast to either Perranporth or St Agnes. The views are stunning and well worth a look especially towards the end of a day after dinner.
If you are looking for a nice meal then definitely try The Railway Inn in St Agnes (Thanks to Philmoirat for this recommendation). We had a super meal here and the atmosphere was very calming and relaxing. A really great way to finish of our holiday.

Just back from here, well what a great little site, small and very friendly. Good working showers and plenty of hot water!
The bonus of actually being able to use the fridges and freezers was a really good touch.
Its quite slopey and you have to look hard to pitch on the level, but the first field in takes tents only and is flat so that is a bonus, we had benign weather with no wind whatsoever, but I think that when the wind blows, its pretty rough for tenters, just a note its right next to perranporth airfield and directly under the flight path!, but I loved it and so did the oh.
