Used the Blue Hills site again. It is still one of my favourite sites in Cornwall. I have always had a decent welcome there
The washing facilities are adequate and the showers are excellent. The Flowers and music are a nice touch and probably help to make users respect the place
Access can be very difficult if you had a big unit and I would suggest that you follow the directions carefully.
Something that may cause confusion: Just before the site was a sign that said 'Camping and Caravan Club only' This was nothing to do with the Blue Hills people. I was afraid that the site had become a C&CC site only although I am a member of C&CC.
The views are superb and there are good walks from there to Perranporth and St Agnes
Although the site appears to be isolated it is reasonably well placed if you want to tour Cornwall. The main road from St Agnes is not far away and this takes you up to the A30
All in all, I look forward to visiting again in 2010

Found the place fairly easy though having relied on our Sat Nav, we approached it via the small village of Mithian. And upon approaching Blue Hills down another narrow tracked road.I thought.I had chosen the wrong road again. But was delighted to find the touring park at the end of the 2nd narrow route.
Was welcomed by Loo & shown to our pitch by Gary at the top of the field which I have to admit was fairly close to another 3 pitches going by our position on site, but fortunately I had some good neighbours for the 1st 6 nights anyway.
The site is in an outstanding area. Stunning Coastal walks within a 5 minute walk. So off the beaten track no traffic could be heard & although situated next to Perranporth Aerodrome. Whilst we were there we only heard 5 planes taking flight. And even then.It wasn't intrusive.
The showers were lovely & hot & the fresh flowers in the ladies were a nice touch.
The utility room / information room was a welcome necessity & there were some magazines / books for those who chose to borrow & read in their spare time. The washing machine was token operated.(£2) & only took washing liquid not washing powder.
There is also a very good recyclable area which everyone was encouraged to use
The daily breakfast van was a very warm welcome, and Loo didn't fail to cook up hearty breakfast!
The beautiful beach Perranporth was 2 miles down the road if you turned left & St Agnes was 2 miles if you turned right.( I highly recommend the butchers shop in Perranporth who when we went had some superb kebabs ideal for the BBQ.) Also Perranporth garden was a beautiful tranquil place if you fancy a very cheap pitch & putt or rowing on the boating lake.50p for children. £1 for adults.
Other areas of Cornwall are very easily accessed from this site via the main trunk roads.

My wife and I took our granddaughter here but only stayed I night, the reason being we were unable to get to the beach. But having said that it was a well organised site with electric hook up that you pay for. There is no facilities on site to pay with debit card but could be being provided please check. lovely people running it could not do enough for us very disappointed when we left.

Just got back from a fortnight in Cornwall, the first week having been spent at Blue Hills campsite.
We pulled into the site amidst a force 4-5 gale. Needless to say, tent set-up was very difficult and our first attempt saw two of our steel tent poles bent and another snapped.
The warden (Gary) was very helpful and even bent the poles back into place for me. He sent me to a nearby welding shop, where they welded the snapped pole. For a fiver!
We had electric hook-up, but I only brought a 10 meter cable (too Short). Gary to the rescue again! He lent me an extension.
The facilities are very good at this site, including laundry room, washing up area, & cooking prep area with microwave. Everything is kept very clean and there is plentiful hot water.
The site is about half way between Perranporth and St. Agnes. You can access the nearby beach by a short walk, and the coastal path runs nearby. The museum in St. Agnes is very good, showing the mining heritage of the area.
Had a lovely week at Blue Hills and hope to return another year. Very good value.

Returned to this site after a good week here in 2008. Site has lost none of it's magic. Weather still a bit of a mixed bag but hey this is the British summer.
Gary and Loo, keep an excellent site, facilities although maybe a little dated are always clean and functional, little touches such as vases of fresh cut flowers in the washrooms give an air of homeliness.
Gary seems to go out of his way to speak to most campers on the site at least once a day, giving the benefit of his local expertise, or just checking that everyone is happy.
Loo is planning to get a takeaway food bar up and running within the next week or so, she was hoping to be ready for Saturday 18th but missed that target - shame because I had volunteered to be her first customer. Plan is to serve breakfasts and burgers, teas etc for the hungry campers and will be a welcome addition to the site.
I am already planning to return for a week again next year as the site is so well located, each time I visit my holiday is completely different with so many places to walk or drive to.

We spent a lovely week at Blue Hills.
The friendly site owner met us when we arrived and was very friendly.
The site was nice and clean, with excellent recycling area.(great as it can be a pain to cart all your emptys home!)
A lot of the site is quite hilly (as the name would suggest) which does mean you have to think about how you pitch your tent.
The shower & toilet block was always clean & always had hot water. (only 3 loos & showers though so did get a bit busy) They even have the local radio staion playing in the block, which was great for a shower sing along!
The washing up area has two sinks and is outside, fairly protected from the elements except on one very wet & windy evening when the rain was driving in.
They have a little room with a kettle & microwave & a sink to do hand washing in, as well as a room with fridges (with little intergral freezes) for free use.
The site is in a beautiful location, lovely cliff top walks down to a cove just 5 mins or so, be aware that the cliff tops are very high and not fenced off if you have children with you who may be running ahead. There is also a tin mine a short walk up from the cove.
Nearby the little town of Perrenporth has everything you will need, a huge sandy beach with excellent rock pools it seemed very popular with surfers too & they had life guards. A great street of shops with knickknacks, beach stuff and plenty of food. (we had lovely hot pasties from the butchers and the best chips ever from a takeaway/cafe with glass front & pink sign same side of road as butchers(cant remember the name!)You have to taste them if you visit this town!
If you turn out the site towards St Agnes you will find a very good camping/caravanning shop called Aztec.
I would give this site a thumbs up!
The only downside was he was quite busy & had a lot of uni students in big groups (they were not loud or a problem at all) but one group were pitched very close to us- you couldn't fit a car between our tent and there 5 tents crowded on one pitch!
It was a bit close for comfort and the view of 4 cars from our tent wasn't great but apart from that (which I like to think was a one off) it was a lovely place to stay.

Just returned from 10 nights at this site. It`s a small site well kept that is quite remote and has good clean showers and toilets. Some of the pitches are sloping and the occasional light aircraft skims overhead to the Perranporth airfield.
The adjacent coastal path provides access to St Agnes or Perranporth so if you fancy a walk the views are outstanding.
The wardens ,Gary and Loo were quietly in the background very friendly and always up for a chat.
We chose this site based on the previous reviews and were not disappointed. We will be returning next year.

My husband and I stayed on this site for a week last week. Having picked the best weather of the year so far, it was one of the best locations we have ever stayed at. The weather of course was an added bonus. Very friendly site and very hospitable hosts. Camp site clean and tidy. What makes this site is its hidden location. We walked many miles each day to St Agnes and Perranporth, either across the cliffs or the beach. The cliff walks are very exhilarating and the sunsets from them fantastic. Only drawback, there is no shop on site and we did not want to use the car! However, would definitely visit again.

Stayed here last night and found the site to be very friendly, clean and lots of free hot water in the showers. Gary booked us in and gave us lots of information about the area. The site is very relaxing and well kept. We will be returning. The coastal paths are beautiful and we enjoyed our walks to nearby St Agnes and ate in a lovely put called the Driftwood Spars. Very good price too.

Just spent a really relaxing four days here at Blue Hills, what a great site. Lou part of the duo of Lou and Gary - very friendly and still had time to say hi in between painting her office.
The weather was brilliant during the day but a bit chilly out at night, mind with it being 19th to 22nd of March what should I have expected! EHU worked and kept our little tent heater working through those few chilly nights.
Site showers are very clean and with copious abouts of hot water, free, I had no qualms about taking a nice hot lazy shower. Well drained site nicely manicured grass and surrounding hedgerows. Fantastic views across the surrounding countryside.
I Like the recycling idea - everything in it place and a place for everything.
Would definitely use this site again as it was a great base for Lands End, St. Ives, Porthtowan, Portreath,(Fantastic Cornish Pasty Shop on Pemberthy Road I think - brought back a dozen)! Newquay, Perranporth and all the other places I re-visited and the new ones my Son made acquaintance with.
Just on the main road too not far away there is a fully equipped Camping and Caravanning Shop, so, if you have forgotten something or need to browse you are not far away from assistance.
