I'd recommend this site. We have a tent and don't use any EHU. The pitch was level and the tent pins easily secured.
The site's facilities were of a good standard, meaning that the toilets were clean. I suggest however that a mop and pail be left out for the use of the campers to keep on top of the mud that is inevitably brought into the toilets between the official cleaning times.
Otherwise I have no complaints. When we visited (6th-8th Aug) the site was fairly busy though not full. Bad weather seemed to result in cancellations from which we benefited.
Visitors can expect a friendly welcome from the Telfers, whom like another visitor, we disturbed from their dinner on our arrival in the evening.
Bellingham is an attractive village. You should find what you need in its shops. We visited the Rose and Crown for a pint. As a Scot, I do enjoy English Ales (You make the world's best beer!). They had Theakstons on draught but I'd hoped for more choice. On the whole the pub was fine, if unexceptional.
We shall return to Demesne Farm.

We found plenty of room for our unit and car. We found the site to be more than adequate [the only thing missing was a launderette.] the site has a friendly feel to it and the owners are welcoming and helpful.
There are also lovely views of the surrounding countryside. The village is a 5 min walk away. There are 3 pubs in the village and my favourite was the cheviot hotel. A good selection of drinks including cask ales and an excellent restaurant open till 9pm. You can also order reasonably priced take-away's at the bar up to 10pm.
There is also a good cafe in the village that is open until 5pm and a chinese takeaway open evenings except Monday. A good butcher's, baker's, greengrocer's, co-op, [open till 10pm] hardwear shop, post office / paper shop, chemist and 2 banks.
We found it a great base for keilder / roman wall / cheviot hll's etc;

Would agree with the reviewer before this, lovely site, forget about the farm bit, it does not really impact unless you want to let the kids see the animals etc. Clean facilities, almost in the middle of the village and wonderful friendly people running it.
Pubs are ok, not up there at the top but all in all more than you could expect shop wise from such a small village. We use this site in summer when mountain biking at Keilder which is a bit of a drive away but the Kielder site is infested with midges from late May onwards, Demesne Farm much less so and there is a wonderful walk up to a waterfall almost out of the farm gate.

Visited this site on 26th June. We just wanted one night camping, not too far from home (Newcastle). I must admit, when I saw that this site was on a working farm, I thought that it would be a bit smelly & very basic facilities. How wrong was I?
I rang Mr Telfer and he was very friendly. He didn't even ask for a deposit. We arrived at 7.15pm. There was a note on the entrance gate to say that we had to knock on the green door of the farmhouse across the road. I did this and disturbed Mrs Telfer having her tea (sorry)! She asked for the fee upfront as they didn't like bothering people in the morning. We paid £12 for 2 adults and a car for one nights stay (well worth it).
The field is massive. Loads of room. Mr. Telfer showed us where the toilet block was and told us that the bottom field would probably be better as there was more room. We pitched our tent & went for a look around.
The toilets were clean, (plenty toilet roll). We had a walk around the village. For such a small village, there was quite a few pubs! The co-op store was amply stocked and no more expensive than other co-op stores. There was a Chinese takeaway (which we had later). Very nice.
We would definitely recommend this site to anyone that doesn't like pubs on site. We definitely will be returning to Demesne farm in the future. Loads of room for children to play. Very enjoyable stay. The only thing that I would say is, take fly & midge repellent. We take Citronella candles wherever we go & they seem to work.

There was no-one to be seen so we picked our own EHU pitch. We had tried knocking at the house opposite as directed but we unsure which door to use.
The site was quiet with only a few families and the boys were overjoyed at the chickens. It was quite muddy what with the rain and we soon regretted not bring our wellies (first time campers!) later we managed to buy wellies at the hardware shop in the village (very friendly and lots of camping / walking equipment).
The village is just up the road with a number of shops, including a co-op. There were a few pubs but we weren't overly impressed, food was only served for a few hours although thankfully one did sell take away food which wasn't the best but we were starving!
We drove to Kielder one day and thankfully the rain eased off for a bit. We also enjoyed a long walk to a nearby waterfall.
When we did see the owner he was friendly and apologetic for the weather which of course couldn't be helped! The weather was a bit of a steep learning curve for us and we'll never forget wellies and waterproof / quicker drying clothes again!
The facilities were fine, 50p for a shower if I recall correctly. Quite basic but all we needed.

On planning a visit to Kielder water we looked at nearby camp sites but were warned of midges close to the water so we decided to try out Demesne Farm about 10 mins away.
I spoke to the owner on the phone who was friendly and suggested payment on arrival in case we decided to cancel due to the forecast bad weather. He was also readily available during out stay if we needed anything.
The campsite is on the edge of Bellingham itself (though not very well signposted) and is part of a working farm, the pitches consist of a couple of fields, the largest with electric hookups (3 a night). We were offered a free run of the site (with advice as to wind cover/sun) as it was quiet. The main field was muddy due to wet weather but not water logged and dried out quite quickly.
There are rules as to noise at night but they were not very well enforced but all in all it a quiet site, even with the daily going ons as a small farm. The shower blocks were small and basic, fairly clean seeing it had been muddy weather, showers were 50p and there was a sink/draining board for washing up.
Bellingham village was a short walk up the road with a few shops including a small outdoors shop and a well stocked co-op and bakers. There was a couple of pubs which served food also.
There's lots of nice walks locally including Hareshaw Linn which we thoroughly recommend! Kielder water itself was great, again with loads to do for everyone.
We would recommend the campsite for a cheap basic site for those who don't want to be in the middle of nowhere but still somewhere rural

Have to agree that this is a lovely site - beautiful spot, well-cared for, friendly owner, ace chickens, ok toilet & washing up facilities.
Bellingham village was ok (good Co-op & hardware shop for those camping emergencies!) but wasn't over-impressed with the local pubs I'm afraid. We do like our real ale-type beer & there wasn't any to be found in the village pubs. The beer we had was also ice cold - what's all that about? However, have to agree with a previous review about the Bay Horse at West Woodburn - it was lovely & the locals were so friendly (even when I knocked over their beer!). One of the men at the bar said that the Riverside Inn was better for beer but that was on our last day so we didn't have time to check it out.
I must also recommend the butchers shop in Bellingham - we got a barbeque pack of meat that wasn't too expensive but was really yummy.
All in all, a basic site in a really good location but we'll maybe take our own wine next time!

Visited this lovely run campsite for 5 days in August. Showers were warm and clean (50p for 6 mins). Lots of fun with the chickens which came into the awning. Bellingham is a lovely village within walking distance from the site, with a well stocked co-op, butchers, bakery (with lovely carrot cake) and butchers.
Take mosquito repellent as they are quite nasty! Also we had a 23ft caravan, getting in the farm was no problem, but and had we had a bit of difficulty getting out of the farm but the farmer helped guide my husband out. Electric is 6volt. All in all a lovely site.

Great Little site, warm welcome on arrival, a good size pitch, fairly level. 2 x showers in mens block 1 x shower in ladies block, 50p for 6 mins, plenty of hot water, sink available in mens & ladies for washing dishes. Bellingham has bakers, butchers, 2 x banks, Post Office, cafe, Petrol station, local Co-Op & pubs. One which offers take away meals between 18.30 - 21.00hrs, we ate our takeway in the downstairs bars, nice meal, well worth a visit. It is difficult to get a signal with O2, but possible depending on where ou are pitched, Orange had a very good signal on this site. No Freeview signal, but got channels 1-4. The chickens are still there doing the rounds picking up all the dropped food bits.
Well worth visiting in the waterfall, approx 1.5hrs walk from the site, quicker on the return as downhill generally.
There is a hotel just outside the Bellingham, which has a small swimming pool, and is open to the general public Adults £4, Kids £2, but if you dine and spend over a certain amount you can swim for Free!.
Kielder Observatory is well recommended we went there to see the recent meteor shower as it was fantastic, also with there 2 x telescopes 1 x 20' mirror 1 x14' we saw 'Jupiter', & other interesting stars etc, the do have a website so you can search for it.

Our first camping trip just to try out our new tent. A great little campsite which we will go back to. There was only one shower and not sure if the shower room was heated. Owner was very friendly. There was not a lot of places to eat in Bellingham as the pubs were full with it being a Saturday night but the CO-OP is open late and the first pub you come to does take-away.
