Lovely peaceful site. Quite a number of season pitches. Mainly groups of older persons which suited us as everyone was really quiet. Had a lovely corner of the site. Walks down the side of the canal into Misterton. Pub at front of site but didn't visit. Site awaiting shower and toilet block finishing but if you are happy to use your van as it was intended for, ie, toilet and showering then no problem. Would visit again.

Thoroughly enjoyed the peace a quiet when I awoke both mornings, it was so quiet. Went for several walks along near the marina.

We have spent several weekends at the site, always finding it peaceful and a place to relax, the owner is very helpful and always seems to wear a smile and has the time to say hell. Last time we were there toilets were in progress with also the plan for a small shop we were told. We have stayed at both sides of the site the main or the dingle dell both being as nice as each other.
A dog walk by the side of the site and also the canal side is a good walk. About 1/2hr drive to a nearby Sunday market and carboot which is well worth a trip to. Bawtry only 1/4 drive where you can find a good choice of places to eat out. I'm sure we will be sorry about how popular this site will no doubt become and make it harder for us to book. No play area on site, however, this doesn't really concern us as we are adults travelling without children.

Great little site, the owner was very friendly and helpful. Own facilities needed, construction in progress of toilet / showers,
We met some friends there and went for walks along the canal paths and riverbanks.
The adjacent pub was for us a bad experience, we booked a table to find the dining room empty and during our visit very few other people came in, all four of us had complaints about the food,so we will be camping here again and trying the yacht club food / drink,

We love this site its the place we call into on our way home for an overnight stay. Been 3 or 4 times this summer.
No toilet block yet still under construction. The site is level and clean. The warden very helpful and the pub is great nice food and real ale. Good position for strolling & dog walking along the canal bank or at the side of the river. Shops a long walk away or a short drive.

Well what can I say a about this little piece of tranquillity, its divine.
When we arrived the owner let us have a choice of pitches.
There are no toilets or showers as yet but they are in the process of building them, my suggestion is that you will have to book early.
The pub just outside the site is idyllic looking over the boat marina especially on a hot summer day ( we were a little tiddly when we left.
There are no shops locally but there is a co-op, butchers, pizza place and chinese in misterton, my suggestion to the owner maybe open a little shop with all the essentials ( you'll make a small fortune) I know your busy.
We will definitely be booking again we have been told bonfire night is a night to remember.

Went to have a look at this site last week as its only 20miles from us and had seen good reviews on here, we ended up booking for fathers day, on arrival warden was busy moving a caravan for someone and we actually picked our own pitch right at the back in the trees over looking a field, excellent wasn't the word it was beautiful too. The facilities that are there are excellent too even though no showers or toilets it didn't bother us as we use our own. £10 per night, 50p for dogs, the area is lovely and peaceful, walks are excellent, and not many roads to cross The shops are in walking distance co-op, butchers, Chinese take away, didn't use the pub at the front of the site but must say it looks lovely, benches outside, dogs welcome, and very well kept. We will definitely be booking again.

We spent 3 days here for a short break before the Easter weekend and the crowds.
A nice, low key site, reasonable price too £10 pn plus 50p for the dog for the whole stay! (Dog walk alongside the site). Good sized hardstanding pitches with plenty of space between neighbouring pitches. Warm welcome and direction to pitch/facilities on arrival from the Warden. There are no showers / loos on site so you do need your own facilities.
The nearest pub, the Waterfront Inn is just at the entrance to the site. There is another pub in West Stockwith, the White Hart, 5-ish minute flat walk along Canal Lane, just past where the River Idle joins the Trent.
Walking around this area is easy as it is so flat. The Chesterfield canal runs along the back of the site and it is great to see poo bags and bins provided alongside the canal and near to the River Trent. There is a very pleasant walk along the River Idle, into the back of Misterton village (PO, Co-op, butchers, Chinese takeaway, library) and back along the canal to the Marina. Couple of local veg stalls (honesty boxes) in Misterton and West Stockwith.
There is also an ice cream van that visited the site every night we were there!
The narrowboats moored up in and near the Marina are lovely to look at.
Would definitely use again.

Fantastic site and will be amazing once it has a toilet and shower facility. Idyllic is a word I would use to describe this site and the staff are so friendly. If you turn left out of the site there is a pub about 200yrds away that allows dogs and has football on tv. We will be back but like others we will struggle to get a place once everyone finds a piece of this caravan heaven.

This is in a lovely spot currently undergoing renovations, there are no toilets presently and they are building more hardstandings. It is lovely and quiet with a pub at the entrance which is not open Monday and Tuesdays. There is a pub serving food all day a very short walk away (3 minutes).
Lovely walks down the canal past the village of Misterton which has Co-Op and butchers plus Post Office. This takes about 15 minutes. There is also a couple of river walks and a lovely little marina.
The owners of the site are friendly and I should imagine it gets busy in summer. We will look forward to a further visit when the site toilets/showers are complete.
