Another great stay at this superb quiet site. The owner and his staff treated us like royalty. It was very busy for the bonfire night extravaganza but from the comments I heard enjoyed by everyone who attended. Excellent firework display handled by all the staff in a very safe and efficient way. A really good bonfire and as stated excellent fireworks. Also a free drink, beer for the men, wine for the ladies and a soft drink for any children along with a hot dog made this a very pleasant evening in pleasant surroundings with very friendly people. We will certainly be back. Next year for the bonfire celebrations (in fact already booked as they do get very busy). We have booked for Christmas and New Year (I think we got the last places) and so as you can see we really did enjoy our stay. When the new toilet block is built this will make this a real gem of a sight. Until then we shall keep coming to stay in this lovely area. When the toilet block is up and running I expect we will need to book well in advance.

A little bit late posting this review - we stayed at this site one weekend when it was supposed to be chucking it down, but rain never stops us, well it was amazing sunshine and so we made the most of the site and the surrounding area. When we phoned to book the owner went to great lengths to advise us that there were no toilets or showers, fine by us it was a quick break and although we had a T25 it had a portapotti, when we arrived we were shown our pitch, it was quite a narrow pitch but plenty big enough for our little van. The site is very pretty and tidy, we asked the owner about some walks and they pointed us in the right direction. We walked for hours by the trent through a few villages and back down the towpath to the pub, we picked up some BBQ food in a great Butchers in Misterton (I think) and a few things in the Coop and then carted what seemed like miles home, it wore the dogs out at any rate. We really enjoyed our stay it was peaceful even with children on site. We would love to go again but don't have a van now so its a no no, if you like canals, canal side pubs, good walks and peace and quiet then I would recommend this site - really nice.

We booked this site because we were only visiting for the weekend and it is only an hour from where we live, also because they were holding a bonfire event.
The site is very level and the pitches of a good size. The owner was friendly, as were all the other guests. It's a quiet site and the quiet rules are enforced. Children are welcome, but they are expected to behave.
The location is excellent, with walks in all directions. A lovely 20 minute walk along the Chesterfield Canal takes you to the nearest village of Misterton, with it's ample shops including a butchers which sells the most delicious sausage rolls.
The bonfire weekend was a big success, with huge fire (including a guy) a twenty minutes firework display, hotdog and wine or beer - all for £32.50.
We really enjoyed our stay and will most deffinitely be returning.

What a wonderful site this is. The owner/ warden was very helpful when we arrived but then left us alone to do our thing. Even tho it is Feb we had a wonderful weekend. We stayed on a hardstand pitch, big enough for caravan & car. The site is well designed with enough lighting to see but not be obtrusive. The chemical disposal point is very well designed and alongside it is a ground floor grate for waste water disposal. There is a dog walk and separate bins for dog waste. At the entrance to the park is a pub which also does meals, has a lovely beer garden and overlooks a small boating marina. The are river walks in abundance and the Chesterfield canal runs alongside the site, you can also walk along this for many miles. The site is within driving distance of Retford, a lovely market town where I live, Gainsborough and Lincoln amongst many others. There is a small Co-Op in Misterton, the nearest village & there are Chinese & English chippies and a pizza/ kebab shop. Only slight negatives are the fact that by choice the site does not have a toilet/ shower block and the pitches are a touch tight getting the van on but we were not inconvenienced by either. The site is a touring caravan and motor home only site. I will be posting some pics when I get a chance if you follow the link from my postings. If you get the chance I would heartily recommend a visit. Oh by the way only £9 for van EHU 2 adults & 2 kids.
If approaching from any direction other than the North use the A631 onto the A161 then up Canal Lane, turn left immeadiately over the canal bridge. Dont go through Misterton as most sites will direct you as it is on very tight roads

This is a very pretty campsite set opposite West Stockwith marina. The owners were very friendly and advised us on the best place to set up our caravan so the children could play. There is a pub at the entrance to the campsite although we didn't use it it looked very nice. There isn't any showers or toilets on site just the chemical waste disposal, even so this did not spoil our relaxing stay over a very very hot July weekend, and we will definatley be stopping again.

Excellent site, well maintained, owner very helpful , pub at entrance which serves delicious meals. You can sit outside and watch the boats in the marina, or walk along the canal which has fishing, permits available from the slte 3 pounds a day or 13 pounds for the year. Highly recommended, we will be returning , and its very cheap which is a bonus !
