Just got back from a weekend at Lakeside Caravan park. This was our second visit to this site, the previous being over a year ago with our tent. We telephoned to book on the Thursday morning as this was a spur of the moment getaway as most of ours are. We booked one EHU pitch, we didn't have to pay a deposit, the lady on the phone was very pleasant and helpful.
We arrived at about 6pm after navigating some narrow roads leading up to the site. We arrived at the site and opened the gates ( these are always closed for security and locked at 10pm, you can get a key if you are going off site and due to get back after 10pm).
Only very slight niggle at this point is that there is no information on where to go next once you close the gates behind you. In fact, you just carry straight on and eventually you see a caravan storage site in front of you and a sign directing caravans down a track to the left.
Do not go over 5mph on this road as it is bouncy. You eventually arrive at the campsite, there is a field on the right and left as you approach, the one on the left is fairly new. You can drive around and find your pitch.
On our visit no pitches had been reserved so we had a great choice of pitches to choose from. All with EHU. We chose to go on the new field which was immaculate, the field level and grass clipped, reminded me of a golf course. We pitched up.
We were given a very friendly welcome by the owners son when he came round to welcome us and take our money.
We were close to the amenity block and a water point was a couple of feet away from us, a nice touch was a watering can near the tap for those who need one to fill onboard toilet water tanks.
Once set up and after a beer we had a look round as it was a lovely warm evening. The site is an adult only site, although, there was a van pitched on the old field who had a very small baby with them. When walking around we did hear the baby crying and we were glad we hadn't pitched on that side of the campsite. The owners son told us this was not the norm and they were allowed on as a special favour.
The pitches were well spaced out. The shower and toilet block was very clean and had push button hot free showers, don't know about the ladies but the gents had two showers and two toilets, urinal and three sinks and was spotlessly clean.
A new addition this year is a cabin where reception is now held, it has seating in and outside and is a nice place to sit down.
The site has two fishing lakes and there is a lovely woodland walk adjacent to the site. The site was so quiet at night and hardly any noise during the day, this really a haven for a peaceful relaxing stay.
Overall we had a very pleasant weekend and will be returning here when we need to unwind and relax in a peaceful picturesque setting. Only thing I would have liked was a little more info on the gate to let you know what to do and where to go if you hadn't visited the site before. If I were giving out stars I would give this site 4 stars.

Fantastic.
The site is really well laid out. A credit to the owner who has developed the site from new.
All pitches on both lakes have easy access to the lakeside.
The toilets and facilities are immaculately well cared for.
The fishing is brilliant. There is an abundance of silver fish, spent the first couple of days fishing for Roach, later tench then couldn't resist have a go at the carp. Used sweet corn, bread, maggots and later floating pal mixer.
This site is adult only and is sign-posted and accessed from the main road. Access is gained through a double wrought iron gateway.

'Adults only'. The magic words!
Just back from a wonderful week's stay at this site. We were greeted warmly by the friendly owners and directed to our pitch, which was huge! Although we're not anglers we can see the attraction of the fishing lakes at such a beautifully quiet site.
The shower block is remarkably clean and remained so even over the Bank Holiday when the site was running at almost full capacity. Well done there!
The laundry has a brand new washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing facilities.
We have nothing but admiration for the owners and the work they are doing to develop the site further. Their genuine interest in the comfort and well being of their visitors is wonderful too.
Having read so much about the access gates, I expected to be confronted by huge forbidding structures when in reality they were sturdy but pretty cast iron ones. If you are going to be out later than 10pm when they are locked, a £10 returnable deposit will secure a key of your own.
Only three miles from the village of Saxilby with its canal, picnic site, supermarket, fish and chip shop and petrol station and about twelve miles from all the delights of Lincoln.
We loved this site, would recommend it to anyone looking for peace and quiet and look forward to visiting again soon.

My partner and two of our friends visited here just for the one night.
The double gates were at first off putting as were the warning signs
A roughish drive up to the site opened up to a very pleasant area with two huge lakes for fishing
We pitched away from the lakes on a flat field near the loos
The pitches were roomy and the ground coped well with our awning pegs
This is an adult only site and boy was it quiet
The only noise from the farmer in the nearby field mowing some hay
We ventured out to Torksey caravans which was about 5 miles away but I believe its quite away from shops etc
We took advantage of a late stay which was an additional £4 and well worth it
We would definitely return for the ultimate quiet trip away

Arrived before 12 and confronted by the famous closed double gates, opened -pass through- and continue after closing, at 5mph(signs saying 'you have been warned'-bit severe the wife felt but still)following the signs till we arrived at the lake(the large area you pass through looks like it is owned by the same person and incorporates various units/storage area/etc)and parked by the shower block-followed by the acting wardens-who were lovely and allowed to setup where ever you wished and pay later. There seems to be some tidying up of the site as in general maintainance, turf laying, creosoting etc but nothing disturbing.
Overall fairly quiet with nice views and good free shower block(no piped music nor did the radiators feel warm but not that cold out anyway)

Booked here for 2 nights but loved it so much we stayed for 4. We were a little apprehensive as we drove through the main gates as it looked a bit ' farmyard ' but on following the road round to the site we were overwhelmed by it's beautiful setting. The owner was waiting to show us to our pitch which was right at the side of the lake with hardstanding. We were initially taken by the look of the other lake and were told we could pitch wherever we wanted. We chose to go to the other lake as my husband is a fisherman and was immediately drawn to this lake. The setting was idylic, being early in the season, we had the place to ourselves. The fishing was excellent for the time of year, plenty of good sized mirror carp in lovely condition. Being the far side of the lake, it was still only a short walk to the shower block which was always spotless. All in all, a really good find, we had a super relaxing few days and are looking forward to returning to this great site.

Arrived Friday night for a weekend break. When we arrived the gates were shut (which they always are for security, they are also locked at 10pm each evening) and there is a sign on the gate stating 'Caravaners, follow signs to left, warden on site. We opened the gates and followed the site to the lovely campsite. But no sign of the warden and so we were at a loss as to what to do. We spoke to a fellow camper who said the office was at the gate where we came in. We turned around and drove back to the house at the gate. We looked around the side and found a door with 'OFFICE' on it, so I knocked. Eventually a lovely lady called me from another door, I paid my money and she said basically we could pitch on any of the numbered pitches as none had been reserved. It turns out that you can turn up and set up on any pitch that hasn't got a RESERVED marker on it and the warden will find you on his travels. Its not clear though at the gate or on their website about this.
We found a lovely pitch by the fishing lake. The site itself is very well kept and landscaped. It is also very quiet which is ideal for a relaxing time. There is also a lovely little woodland walk for exercising your four legged family. By the way, this is an adults only site.
The site has all the usual facilities, motorhome grey water emptying point, elsan disposal unit, two fresh water points and a modern shower and toilet block. I can only comment on the gents but it was immaculate. Two lock up toilets,a urinal, two showers and three sinks. A nice touch was that in the morning the block had piped music. The block also houses a one sink wash up point. Another nice touch was that there were separate bins for waste plastic and paper, food waste and glass waste, very green.
Overall a very pleasant and quiet stay. George the warden was very pleasant and nothing was any trouble for him.
We will be visiting again in the future.

Spent 2 nights at this very pretty clean site. Facilities include toilets and showers for men, women & disabled. Very clean but no lockable door on shower, 2 shower curtains though. A single pot washing sink. Good location for visiting Lincoln and Newark both a very short distance away.
Before booking there was no mention (on the sites own website) of it being adult only, nor was there mention of it when booking. There was a comment about it being best suited to adults due to the deep lakes. So when we arrived with our very well behaved 14 & 11 year old we were surprised when this was an issue, although we were not turned away. The rules posted around the site stated that was the case but, this was not included on their website rules. If it had been we would not have booked and would have missed the opportunity to stay an a very nice site.

Fantastic site. Lovely friendly people. Showers always spotless. Great area around lincoln. Ideal for me as my son is based at raf waddington. Lots of space between pitches. Will definitely be going again. We made many friends on site, one couple even babysat are dog so we could go to lunch with my son. Only one small criticism was having to open and close main gate when going out. The site was always spotless and george was always very friendly

stopped here for 2 nights, if you love fishing its the place, it's a no kids site so peace and quiet is good, but plenty of other campers, showers clean and tidy and the site is very well kept, we like walking and not of much of that in this area only flat ground around farmers fields.
The city is a must see only 15mins run in the car, shops look great very much like York, we didn't stop long in the city due to time, so we have booked to go back and we would go back to this site for a quiet rest without shadow.
