Site has new warden still only at reception at specific times but otherwise very pleasant and helpful. Allocated a hard standing pitch with electric for four nights . Site clean as usual.
Toilet block are still dated although they are kept clean .Plenty of hot water. The site still has no shop at the big house which is a shame as it would benefit from it . Alford itself has only got a chipper and a handful of shops, so stock up on bits and pieces before you go . Nice walks round about the site for dogs e.T.C .Have used this site several times and will again.Recommend it to all .

Just back from a somewhat wet weekend at this site. Site is excellent, Joyce the warden was really friendly and welcoming. Our electricity wasn't on when we went to the pitch, but she was there in 10 mins and had it fixed.
Site was very quiet with lots of trees surrounding the pitches. In the middle of a lovely country park with some great woodland walks and easy bike trails. Alford centre is 10 - 15 minutes walk, or a short trip on the Alford railway from site to Grampian Transport Museum in town centre - museum's well worth a visit.
Site amenities are good. Toilets & washrooms a wee bit dated, but warm, very clean and lots of free hot water. Great play areas for kids including adventure playground and ball games area away from pitches.
Lots of washrooms, toilets and waterpoints all over the park. Drive-over waste water disposal was great for a 7.3m motorhome! Unfortunately it was too wet to enjoy the putting and other amenities!
Recommend this site - we'll certainly go back, hopefully when it's not raining! Nice & handy with a real 'away from it all in the country' atmosphere.

Good site. Staff very friendly. Camped in the Walled Garden along with a few other tents. Reasonably quiet. Close to play park for kids and close enough to the toilet block which were clean and good showers. Also good dish washing facilities. Site a short distance from shops but good chance to use the miniture railway which runs from the park to the town - also very reasonably priced. Good local attractions with the Grampian Motor Museum.
Costs were very high I felt for a 6 person tent (Only myself and 2 young children) compared to the monster of 9 person tents next to mine who had paid the same, otherwise I would recommend to anyone.

Two of us and the dog have been three times and am going back for the weekend on 13/14 June. The last time we were there we were put near to the big house but found it pretty crowded and cramped. I got a site map from the office,[who were very nice]and we were able to pick our own pitch, we chose one over the back which is much roomier and quieter. The dog walks are good and there also are river walks with them as well. The only draw back is the village is quite a walk but there is always the litle railway to get you there. All in all we like it.

Found the park very spacious, tidy and quiet. Shops and pubs etc were a fair walk but generally we had a nice time. GOOD POINT plenty of dog walks, if you have one obviously! Toilet blocks were clean and tidy, the little shop they have was not open when we were there no big deal, but we could shoot some pool.

Well situated, well equipped and great value for money site. The site is located in a beautiful country park, five minutes from the village of Alford with all the usual amenities. Co-op, butchers, bakers, as well as an indoor pool, dry ski slope and transport museum. There are numerous castles and houses within a short drive and Aberdeen is only about half hour away.
We pitched our tent in the walled garden an excellent spot if you have children as there is a grassed area (suitable for ball games) and a play park just through a gap in the wall. There is a facilities block close by too. The facilities whilst a bit dated were clean and there were plenty of them, during our three night stay (over theweekend) we didn't have to wait once and there was plenty of hot water at all times too. There is a laundry and ironing room in the basement of the house(entered through the door at the back)with commercial machines for only £1, cheaper than washing at home! We will definitely visit again.

I'm rating this campsite as 'fair' (rather than dreadful; adequate; good or excellent). We (2 adults & 1 toddler in a massive tent) went midweek, so we were told we could pitch where we liked - either to the front or side of the house (side is sloping) or at the previously mentioned walled garden. After looking around (and being warned of the group of students at the front!) we went in the garden. No marked pitches on any of those three sites, so I wonder how squashed up folk get at the weekend. There is one EHU site for tents, but the pitches seemed tiny - certainly wouldn't fit our 8 man in, I think you'd have to enquire about the exact dimensions if you have a 6 man or more. You get a key for the toilet/shower blocks, but they aren't signed in or out at all - you can tell this is a council site and not owner-occupied! The country park and Alford itself seemed a little more run down than I expected - a few empty shop fronts and the park centre closed up. That said, there seem to be plenty of different playgrounds for kids, bike paths, etc (plus small stone circle). The small train is great for small kids - look at the link from the website if you want to go when it's a steam engine. Alford has a basic public swimming pool and if you're after a site close enough to both the mountains and the coast (it took us 45 mins from Aberdeen), this is fine. Good for free-range kids, ok for the rest of us.

Been at this site a few times with a tent, now with a touring van. A large site with most pitches well spaced in a country park setting. Lots of trees so this means a) leaves on your van or car b) bird poop on van or car c) limited sunshine on some pitches due to leaf cover.
Overall, well organised and specifically aimed at children, a large play area keeps them away most of the time from old fuddy-duddies like me.
On the edge of the site is the river Don, lots of walks and cycle tracks to be enjoyed. Dog excercise area used by some dog owners, others seem to let them drop their doggy fudge where they like which is a shame.
At peak times, the site organisers will allocate your pitch before you arrive, with no option for personal selection once you get there. I was told that the site was full, but where I stayed there were plenty of spare pitches that could have been used, although these were mostly in the more shaded areas.
Some graffiti present in the toilet facilites, but recent paint job has tried to clean this up. Nice and clean, never seemed too busy even though the site looked about 75% full. The extractor fans on these blocks makes a droning sound like WWII bombers, so if you are a light sleeper, park up well away from them.
On the whole, a good site with a back to nature feel.

Stayed for a weekend (only 30 min drive from Aberdeen) having visited the site before but never camped there. We arrived Friday evening and pitched in the walled garden area. You can also pitch adjacent to the main house (a must if you have dogs). Pitch was a please yourself arrangement and by Saturday was very full. Toilets were fair/ok if dated, but hot showers and adequate amount of cubicles etc. There are no resident wardens, so there were the usual party tent groups who went on into the early hours. Maybe we should have opted for the adjacent to the house pitches as these seemed quieter. On the plus side, the park is large and well equipped with good childrens play areas and a miniature railway into Alford. On the whole an enjoyable weekend and i'm sure as with anywhere else, it would be much quieter through the week.

Lovely location - inland so tends to be warmer than the coast, but still handy for Aberdeen. Site is situated in the country park which is very close to the village. Several areas for tents and caravans spotted around the large house where the shop and office and games room are located. Lots of families so very child-friendly.
The walled garden is perfect for families as it is quite enclosed with the play park adjacent and no dogs allowed in this section - though they are, I believe, allowed in the other areas where there were tents and caravans.
Toilets fairly clean and showers excellent. There is a small train that travels from the park up to the village - though it is not far on foot or by car. Village has several pubs and shops and everyone seemed very friendly. Good bakers and a lovely pub in middle of village with nice enclosed beer garden.
