April 2004 I am writing this as the new campsite warden as of this season and would like to thank Laura for her review. I would agree with most of her review particularly the bit about the sausages at the local butchers! Joking apart I would like campers to know that you will receive a warm welcome at our campsite and that all staff members are dedicated to creating a good atmosphere to make sure you enjoy your holiday!

June 2002 Very well managed site with lots of room for outfits. Village is only a short journey away. The miniature railway is excellent. Play parks for children are adequate. Very nice site for all the family.

Late July 2003 Fantastic campsite in picturesque country park surroundings. Spacious pitches for tents and caravans with clean free toilets and showers (toilet blocks are spread out and are no further than a 2 min walk from any pitch). Toilets were cleaned to a high standard every morning and showers were exactly the right temperature!! There is also a laundrette and camp shop and the tariffs are reasonable.
We had 9 dogs between us (8 adults & 4 kids) and us humans were split between campsite, caravan & self contained flats. Dog walks were good and there was even a chance to swim in the river (watch out for currents though if you are a weak swimmer). There are also adventure playgrounds throughout the country park, as well as a minature railway.
Weather was lovely during our stay. The village of Alford (pronounced Afford) is less than a 5 minute drive and about a 10-15 minute leisurly walk away. It has banks, supermarkets, chemists as well as a great bakery and a butchers which sells the tastiest sausages I've had for a while. There are also a few pubs in the villiage (also about 15 mins walk) which are friendly and reasonably priced.
Aberdeen is only about 45 mins away - but I would recommend you visit Huntley which is around 30 mins drive and has all the usual touristy stuff.
This was a great campsite which caters for everyone, please note there is no kids entertainment laid on (apart from a feeble games room with two pool tables at 50p a game) but there is plenty of room for them to play rounders/football and any other outdoor game within the park itself.
The only downside of our whole stay was the rather unfriendly manager of the campsite, it is owned by local council, but this guy thought it was his!! He was rude and unfriendly to each member of our party, (we all arrived seperatly from as far away as Hampshire and Suffolk), as soon as they came in to register and made a point of moaning at our kids everytime he thought we were out of earshot.
However, I wouldn't let that put you off visiting Alford as the campsite is big enough to avoid him! We will definately be going back.
