Spent a weekend in this delightful village. The site is in the village itself, only a few minutes walk from the pubs, tearooms and shops.
The location is stunning; set in the dale with fells rising at both sides. It also seems well sheltered where we were pitched by the wall - we could hear the wind and see the trees swaying, but it hardly touched the tent.
However, we were not protected from the rain! The site soon became very muddy and waterlogged, but then there had apparently been excessive rainfall in this part of the dales this summer.
As others have commented, the facilities are basic, consisting of 2 toilets, 2 showers and 2 sinks. Only one sink has hot water. The showers cost 20p for 2 minutes.
These are all in the same outbuilding and are unisex - much to my daughter's dismay! When we arrived at the site we considered these adequate for the 10 or so tents. However, when we returned later and saw that the site was full I knew we'd have to queue.
In my opinion, tents were far too close to each other - our neighbours had pitched less than a metre away and we could hear every word! You can also hear the church bells chime the quarter hour at all hours of day and night as the site is next door to the church & graveyard.
Although the site slopes considerably, flat pitches can be found. And as it is a no frills site it is relatively cheap. We paid £10 per night (£6 adult, £2 child, £2 car).
We were there during the Kettlewell scarecrow festival, which was charming and you have to be amazed at the effort people put into their creations.
It's a lovely village in which to relax and unwind, or good base for Wharfedale walking. We enjoyed a meal in the Racehorse Hotel and afternoon tea in the village hall. And the quirky model village underneath the well-stocked village shop is worth a look.
Whilst in the area, we visited Aysgarth Falls and the Forbidden Corner - a bizarre creation of tunnels and fantasy landscaping, which my daughter loved (you need to book to visit).
If you enjoy luxurious facilities, this site is not for you. However, we would return to explore more of this fabulous area, especially if the weather forecast was good!

This is a very nice campsite in a beautiful area. The price is quite competitive with other sites at the moment.
The toilet block is perhaps a little on the small side as it only has two toilets and two showers although they were clean and the showers were nice and hot. There are also two sinks which you can wash in or use for dish washing.
The limited facilities did unfortunately cause a few problems over the weekend as the campsite filled up and there was a lot of queuing and waiting for all amenities.
I think more toilets/showers could be provided especially as it is quite a large site and I believe there are two fields and only one was occupied over the weekend.
It's a little confusing where you need to book in too although the proprietor did say they were going to put a sign up. The site is ideal if you want to go walking and there are also three very nice pubs in the village which are each very different.
The local shop is very handy and the staff were very friendly. We would definitely go to this site again, but not over a weekend or during the school holidays as they just can't cater for large crowds.

Stayed here last weekend with friends & 3 young children. Views were lovely, site was nice & quite! Mix of families & couples. Friendly owners. Toilets & showers are unisexed with washing up facilities a short walk away. Basic, clean all we needed really.
There's a near by stream that was lovely & my children ended up playing in. There's a small lovely park in village which you can see from campsite. It rained at lot on the Saturday so we ended up in the kings head, nice pub, nice food(amazing chips) & dog friendly! Local store has everything you need, just check closing times as closes early.
Short drive to grassington village, which was nice for a walk round! Would of explored more just weather wasn't great.
Would visit again!

We stayed here for 2 nights in July. The site is situated in the small village of Kettlewell which is beautiful.
The site is divided into two fields. The top field, where we stayed, is on a slope and there are very few flat pitches. There is one portaloo which did not have any toilet paper! There are showers at the farm house, about 5 minutes walk down the track, which are £1 for 12 minutes.
There are a couple of pubs in Kettlewell and a shop that provides almost everything.
The kids loved playing in the river nearby but that is about all there is to do for the kids on or around the site.
Its not the cheapest campsite we have stayed at either paying around £30 for 2 nights. It can get very busy with groups on DofE and we did have to tell them to be quiet on one night after the kids had gone to bed. If you are into walking, climbing or mountain biking this is an ideal site if you are wanting a peaceful, quite, flat site I would probably avoid this which is a shame as the location is stunning.
I genuinely cannot decide if I would stay here again!

Just back from a two night stay here. As the other reviewers -and the farmer - have said, it a basic site, but it's lovely.
Nothing to add to description of the facilities, which are correct. There was only one field open when we were there, and it did get busy because it's the school holiday and a weekend of dry weather. What I would say is if you camp at the side of the field nearest the church yard you will lose the evening sun fastest - better to go on the other side of the field!
Also, it was nice to see the farmer visiting to keep an check about noise levels the next morning - to find out if anyone had any complaints. I did have to ask a family to keep down their game of cricket at 9pm, and they happily moved away from my not-yet-asleep little one!
The village shop is great, and whilst they do not have internet access any more, there is wifi available at the kings head pub should you need it.

My wife and I along with friends have just had a three night break at Fold Farm Campsite in Kettlewell. As mentioned in other reviews the facilities are really quite basic (as the very friendly and helpful owners are the first to explain on the phone). However if you can deal with shared toilets and showers the location of this idyllic village and site is excellent.
The three pubs are all good and distinct from each other, the village shop is very well stocked and convenient and the site itself has scenery which is very difficult to beat anywhere in the UK.
Nearby Grassington has a very good Indian Restaurant/take out, varied shops and a petrol station selling campingaz etc.
If the site owners wanted to improve facilities electric hook up and improved loo's are obvious developments and the access to the camping field is tight but doable, however this is our second visit having been last year so as you can tell the above niggles wouldn't stop us coming back again to enjoy everything this fabulous Dales village has to offer.

When we first arrived at the site, we were very impressed with the scenery. Who couldn't be moved by the site of Whernside and the Yorkshire fells on a sunny day?
Unfortunately we seemed to pick a weekend for families and it was only after we had already spent a night there that we found where the quiet field was. The only pitch that we could find was up near the entrance and was sloping, stony and a bit of a pain. It was tremendously windy that weekend which didn't help and we obviously can't blame the owners for that!
I had read other reviews of the site before we went so we were expecting a lovely weekend. The first morning on site we ended up waiting in a queue for the showers and toilets.
Two showers, two toilets and two sinks for over 100 people is a joke in my view. Only one of the sinks had hot water but the showers were excellent, 20p for a quick shower is fine for me, not being one for preening and pampering! It was this that made us feel that the site was too expensive.
The scenery is absolutely fantastic as you would expect from the Yorkshire Dales but the trip was spoiled a little by the price. Clearer instructions with regard to the quiet field might have made this a good trip but I'm afraid we won't be returning until things improve. 9/10 for effort but sorry, 3/10 overall.

We had a great time at this site, and found that having the facilities down the lane at the farm was fine. We were actually the only people there at the time and we had a great peaceful visit! The showers were lovely hot and clean and a £1 gave you 12.5 minutes!
Kettlewell was great, we went to the Bluebell and Kings Head, both were great pubs and about 5-10 minute walk from the campsite. The walking from the site was also fantastic. We walked up to Bucken Pike and Great Wherside straight from the site so it is very well connected for walkers.
The owners of the farm were away, but the family farm sitting were really friendly and looked after us very well. When we landed there was no one around but we did find someone working on the farm that directed us to the field where we were to camp. We set up and then settled up later, which seemed fine.
All in all a great little site, very peaceful and brilliant for Kettlewell and walking routes. I am sure we'll go back!

We have visited this site a number of times and still enjoy coming here. We have tended to choose the top field to camp, as it seems to be quieter than the bottom field. Presumably because of the 5 minute walk to the toilet/shower facilities! There is a portaloo in the field, but its worth the walk down the hill!
The facilities include 2 toilets, 2 sinks and 2 coin operated showers. We have always found these to be adequate and have never had to queue for long.
There are 3 great pubs in the village just a stroll away and a couple of lovely tea rooms too. An extremely handy general store has most things you would need.
There is also a park for the children to play in in the village.
All in all, a good campsite in a beautiful village.

This campsite is basic. When we arrived on foot and nobody was in, so we waited several hours before pitching our small tent in the nearby field (Had a sign at the gate of the field) Only to be told we had to move it to the top field. A sign at fold farm with directions to the 'top field' would of been very helpful. It turns out to be at least 1/4 mile away from the farmhouse / main toilet and shower. It slopes and the had a portaloo. I don't mind a basic campsite, but as we are paying it would of been nice to of been treated courteously. Kettlewell is nice though. I think the bottom field near the farm is now no longer used but we found out the hard way
