Terrific campsite! Would definitely go back!

We turned up to a warm welcome on a very windy day for a week that was to become extremely wet and windy, but experienced nothing of waterlogging or rutted areas that other people have mentioned here. At least the site was on a slope so you aren't going to end up in a lake!

We were allowed to pitch where we wanted which was a big bonus. Yes the site was exposed to a strong onshore breeze but if you have half decent kit and position it properly it shouldn't be a drama. What do you expect on a hill by the sea though?

The ablutions were fine but the showers in the lower ablutions house need sorting out so you can put your clothes somewhere! That was the biggest pain. Basic but everything worked fine

Just come back from an eight night stay here,I can say as a family we had a fantastic time.
The pitch was nice and overlooked the lagoon. The toilets and showers were quite new and were nice and clean. Did lack a little on the washing up facilities as only 3 sinks(wasn't over keen on washing up anyway)Site managers nice and helpful. Only down side for us was that we took 2 dogs with us and they weren't allowed anywhere, we were hoping they would at least be allowed in the pub garden.
Entertainment was good especially for the kids. Swimming pool was ok, if not a little basic. Seem to need to have plenty of spending money though. I'd definitely recommend it and I know we'll be going back.

We stayed here for 4 nights over the Easter weekend. Our party consisted initially of 2 adults and 2 children (aged 6 and 2), we were then joined by another 2 adults and 1 dog. We took an electric large pitch (8m x 8m tent +extension).

Facilities are as you would expect for a Haven holiday site, shower / toilet block, gas services, Elsan point, washing-up facilities etc. Particularly good for us is the fact they can accommodate our tent (8m x 8m +extension) on an electrical pitch.

It wasn't the presence of the facilities that made this a great experience for us, it was two things; two wardens (Ken and Jan) and the cleanliness of the place.

Firstly, Ken and Jan are absolute stars when it comes to being 'camp warden', married and living on site, they've almost perfected it. Hugely understanding and very sympathetic to the interests and needs of those with tents, they went out of their way several times to ensure we had enough space, were polite, helpful and always happy - no matter what.

Secondly, they've clearly gone a long way to upgrading the facilities and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness at the site because we were repeatedly impressed by the constant cleaning, maintenance work, gardening, litter collection and recycling. Absolute top job on that front in our opinion.

The layout of the site was great for us, with many routes to take the dog and obviously, a massive amount of local walks (Weymouth, Portland, surrounding areas etc.)

To top it off, the entertainment (not exactly hardcore camping I know, but that's not why we went here) was great for the kids and fun for the adults. Indoor pool was superb and once again cleaned to a very high standard. All in all, everything from the on-site shop to the bar was very good value for money, particularly the £3 for a cooked breakfast - couldn't fault it. (We only gave it 7/10 for value for money because of the cost of pitching there, not a cheap pitch, but then again, we took a big tent).

Negative points for us were; lack of seating in the entertainment and what seats there are are too close together, if you want to sit down for the entertainment, get there early - it gets busy fast, a couple of 'undesirables' on the camp site (but with fairness, Jan and Ken handled it superbly and it gives you something to gossip about with your neighbours), the fact the pool closes between 1pm and 2pm was a real pain in the bum some days; apart from that it gets a real thumbs up from us. We'll be going back, no doubt.

We were going to visit this site by means of motorcycle and trailer but the weather had been so bad and the forecast was not much better so loaded the gear into the car. On arrival we were told to find the best pitch we could as it was all a big bog. Found a pitch that was dry the only one that was.
The warden came over to see if we were ok, I said its not your fault we have had more rain in the last two than I have seen in the last 50. Sat 5.30pm rain and wind thought the tent was going to blow away as in Ullapool this June Tue 7.30am wind and rain gone. But site a bog all week. Now the good bit great site great staff, 7 nights with elec just £60. Bad point parking in town, welcome to Weymouth but not your car. Blast the weather loads of free yes free parking for motorcycles.

When we arrived on site we were met by Jan who showed us to our pitch. She explained to us that the pitches were in a mess due to the fact of it being so busy it had been one on one off.

Alarm bells should have started ringing then! The pitches were indeed a mess, pretty much the whole field had been churned up and in some areas there were some very deep ruts, but the pitches were dry so we got unpacked and went off for a wander, we had booked a pitch with a sea view, I would dispute the fact it was a sea view because 1, it wasn't overlooking the sea, more of a muddy bank near some water and 2, because you couldn't actually see it, the bushes were so high you had to go round the back of them to have a look.

It was a short walk down hill to the entertainment complex. There was the usual amusement arcade, bar, swimming pool crazy golf (£2 per person)etc.

The main entertainment venue was spangles showbar, we were going to go in for a drink but didn't, it was jam packed, you could barely get inside the door. It was a tiny club house when you consider the size of the camp, the lady in the van next to us went down there at 5.30 to queue to get in so they could get a table !

Headed back to the tent for a drink and to get the bbq going when suddenly the wind came, and what wind it was. No way could you have a bbq on an evening, hubby was chatting to a lady who has been using the site for 40 years and she told him it was pretty much the same every night!

Hubby went off site and found a chip shop at the end of the road called 'alfs' voted best in 2007, it was lovely, probably the best fish and chips I've had in a long time.

On the second night it started to rain, it wasn't really heavy rain or anything, just rain. It very quickly became a mud bath. At this point a chunk of the touring field was coned off because it was under water. It seemed that the rain couldn't drain away it just sat there making the field muddier and muddier. By the morning the field was under water. The mud was squelching under the tents ground sheet if you stood in one place too long you sank !

It was very difficult to get over to the shower block safely due to the uneven ground, there are no paths or roads so which ever way you went you had to go through huge puddles and sludgy mud on ground full of holes!

After checking the forecast that was saying more rain was expected we decided enough was enough and packed up early.

Over all it was a typical Haven park, the touring field does need a lot of work although the wardens do seem to try and do the best they can.

The toilets and shower block were quite new in appearance although due mostly to the weather were grubby, a plaster that was on the floor in one of the showers on Monday morning was still there on Tuesday morning.

The washing up area was good, 3 sinks with good draining space that were usually fairly clean.

There was also a family bathroom and a disabled bathroom which we didn't use but you can pay a deposit for the key at the beggining of your stay and get it back at the end.

There are no play areas in the touring area, It was about a 5 min walk down the hill to the small park and ball games area.

This site is situated right at the top of the park away from the hustle and bustle of the main complex and statics. The site has lovely sea views although this means it can be very windy. The week we were there the severe weather warnings and torrential rain meant we had to take down the awning and get on the wellies! The touring field does get very churned up and muddy in the wet weather. But to the wardens credit the washrooms still remained clean and mud free, and their friendly manner never faltered.

This site would be perfect if they would tarmac or at least gravel a road in around the touring pitch. And if they could reduce the strength of the wind, that would be great too!

All in all a lovely wee site, but bring your wellies and leave the awning at home!

On arrival offered choice of pitches as so many had left due to weather. Pitches are marked out so the wear to the grass is constantly in the same area resulting in badly worn patches for you to pitch your tent. Soil is clay so expect mud. Site is exposed so wind is a problem, it actually broke our tent before erection was complete. Binned our tent on top of others in the bin which subsequently had more bust tents placed upon it. Bought a new smaller tent (just like the one at home) to lower wind resistance.

Site is quite regimented with little notes on what is expected of you dotted around 'close the door', 'wipe your feet', 'keep within your pitch'. My daughter was reprimanded for not wiping her feet when she had which is not so good but the place is a bit of a muck hole.

Ken and Jan run a tight ship and really do try hard to keep the place spick and span. I thought it was a bit too much but to their credit the facilities are spotless and you wont find better.

The clubhouse is also spotless with a great lead entertainer employed by Haven (dances to songs etc), the rest are ok but not as good. Entertainment when I was there was so so but surprisingly the bar prices were not too bad especially the four pint jug.

As a former self employed amusement caterer I know generosity in setting amusement machines payouts pays dividends, Haven does not!

Despite excellent facilities would not go back here to camp as the site is far to exposed to any wind which is an absolute killer for camping, add to that the worn out pre-set pitches and the clay which gets everywhere when wet (but Ken and Jan do their level best).

Stayed at Littlesea for the great price of £11/night including use of the facilities (indoor pool and childrens entertainment). Got this price by booking ahead of time on their website.

We enjoyed our stay and the site was very nice, especially seeing as we had paid for a sea view plot. Pool and family changing was great, evening entertainment was good - though I expect our 1 year old will appreciate it more in later years.

Weymouth was lovely, with a sandy beach and an infinite number of restaurants (we used our Tesco vouchers, exchanged for tokens before hand, to eat for 75% off at Bella Itallia).

There was a mad wind on the last night and being with a sea view made it worse so we had to put our awning away, which of course couldn't be helped. Sadly the sea gulls attacked our bin bag that last morning (which in the madness of putting the awning away we had forgotten to put away). The Warden wasn't very nice about that, considering it was a genuine accident and we did pick it all up. Still the nice facilities and location made up for it :-)

Wow - What a great site! I'm always a little cautious when I book a Haven site as I stayed at Blue Dolphin in Scarborough last year which was terrible but this one must be the jewel in the crown. The welcome from the warden was excellent and she walked us to our pitch even offering to get help to push us in nose first to the seaview pitch we had booked. The price was good at £50 for 5 nights with electric on the seaview pitch.

The toilet block was perfect too - new, with good showers, clean toilets, a very good waste water/elsan point and spotlessly clean with plenty of room at all times.

Overall, a great experience of this site and I would definitely return.

When we arrived we looked around in horror at the state of the pitches, it reminded my husband of Glastonbury! Many were boggy and deeply rutted or full of water. We were met by Jan the warden who, together with Ken was wonderfully helpful and friendly during our stay, and could not have done any more to make our stay pleasurable.

Anyway, back to Glastonbury.Oops!no, Littlesea! Jan showed us available usable pitches, and we were allowed to choose the one we felt would suit us best. Because of the weather people leaving during the weekend had driven over pitches leaving them in a state, so only the pitches near the roadway were in use. The wardens spent all week with various 'boys toys' including a steam roller to try to sort them out! We were lucky to be there as many had been turned away, and others later in the week were being offered upgrades to statics.

Despite all the mud, the washrooms were spotless, the only problem we had was in the family bathroom one night - the floor by the bath was muddy which made it difficult to bath the baby whilst sitting on the floor, and we had no way of cleaning it. We mentioned this on our questionnaire and suggested a mop and bucket in the corner would be useful. Jan came and apologised profusely, and was upset it was dirty for us, and explained they had tried this in the past, but the less than honest campers stole the mop and bucket, together with toilet rolls, and even door mats! Also with lots of empty pitches there was never a queue in the washroom!

The touring site had some lovely views,(not as spectacular as it looks in the brochure) and was a short walk down the hill to the main entertainment complex.

The Haven site itself was exactly what you would expect from a Haven site. The facilities were immaculately clean - we have been to a few Haven sites, and this was by far the cleanest, and with the no smoking rule it smelt fresh too - great for us with young children. The volume of the songs etc in the show was too loud for us - sadly our little boy although desperate to see Rory and Bradley was put off by the volume and wanted to go home. The other thing was the play park could only be accessed via the main complex entrance - a pain to say the least as you see it from the road, and our little boy was desperate to go in, and couldn't understand why we couldn't go directly there. There was only one picnic table in the park squashed into a corner -it would have been nice to be able to get a coffee and sit in comfort to watch him play.

Talking of coffee Starbucks was great - if rather pricey, and talking of pricey, the food in the shop was extortionate - £1.20 ish for a single tin of tuna.

We needed the Dr during our stay, our children were ill, the number was on the park map, and the surgery were very accommodating, having a children's clinic on weekdays from 12pm where they would see any child under 12 without an appointment - just wait your turn.

We wanted to leave later but due to the number of arrivals couldn't leave in the evening, but Jan came to find us and said we could stay on our pitch until 12 instead of 10 if that helped.

The wardens were very friendly and chatty, always stopping for a word in passing. They said the plan is to put 'green' hard standing pitches on the site for next year to try to alleviate problems with muddy pitches. Something needs to be done - after a night of heavy rain we ended up with a pool of water lurking under the awning carpet, just by the steps waiting to soak any unsuspecting person who stepped out without thinking! We ended up pulling up the carpet to try to dry out the ground.

Overall despite the mud (weather is no one's fault) a lovely site, and we would go again.
