Fantastic experience! Quiet, rural, proper camping. Friendly people who run it, easy check-in (although signposts could be more visible).
Plenty of space, lots of woods to explore. Kids loved the rope swings!
Thank you!

Great location hidden away from the every day grind.
Really friendly farmer on site who brings logs around between 5 and 6pm
Fires allowed and BBQ’s raised up.
Just up the road from us and will certainly be back.
Check it out by booking ahead, you won’t be disappointed.

I tried to book online but did not get a reply, so a quick phone call and I was all booked in.
You have to check in at the farmhouse at the bottom of the lane upon arrival and they mark you in and you pay your £5 per unit and £5 per adult.
The track up to the site is a mile long and is very bumpy and not suitable if you vehicle is pretty low. I crawled along it at about 5mph and I was still worried about my wheels and tyres.
At the end of the track it rises quite steeply as you enter the field, so a good boost of power is needed.
The field is just one massive open space surrounded by woodland on three side. You pick where you like and away you go. Pretty flat field and lots of options of placed to pitch.
There are no facilities at all except a bin, chemical disposal and a fresh water tap. The fresh water is back down the track a bit and it is a trickle, so will take a while to fill 5 litres.
Chemical disposal has not water to rinse your cassette, and the bins are not for recycling, just all waste in one.
You can have a fire here and the farmer comes and sells bags of logs in the afternoon / evening for £3. 50 per bag and you get a good quantity.
There are some magical views and walking in teh South Downs Way is in abundance, you can walk for hours on end and there are a couple of pubs within walking distance, however we did not venture to them.
There are lots of places locally to visit including Chichester which is a lovely place.
I would return, but will be completely stocked up with food, water and booze before I arrive.

What can I say. Been coming here for years; still think it's one of the best campsites in England, as long you don't mind no facilities.
And it's only an hour from our house. Perfect spot.

We have used this site many times with groups of friends and family and we can honestly say it is one of the most stunning sites on the south coast!
Steve and family are very accommodating and are often seen driving around the field with fresh supplies of fire wood and checking everyone is okay!
We look forward to our annual stay next year!

Nice quiet, picturesque site.
The only facility is freshwater so take everything else you need, and take a loo too.

They didn’t respond to email, usually I would just turn up but I don’t know if they are open due to COVID. I didn’t go as it’s a long way to go and not be open.
I love the camp site, but toilets sometimes dirty and too much rubbish. But because of the type of camp site people should be encourage to take their rubbish home.

Great place. Middle of nowhere. Beautiful views from one side of the site.
Surrounded by forest on the other three sides.
Clean portaloos. Everyone was friendly. Mission to get up the track but all good fun.
Can't wait to go back.

We were backpacking along the South Downs Way and stopped for one night - myself and two daughters.
This site is in a great location and once there and sorted it was a really nice night. However, there were a couple of issues with the site which made it not great for backpacking, which is a shame because it is in the ideal location for backpackers on the SDW.
One problem is the fact that you need to check in at the farmhouse, but the site itself is a mile up the track to the north. If you are coming in from the north (as we were) this means a 2 mile round trip from the point you pass the camping field itself. We did not realise this (camping field not marked or visible when coming down main path from woods) and so all made the 2 mile round trip (would have left rucksacks and girls in field if I'd known).
Second issue for backpackers is the water issue. There is a tap just before you climb up the final slope to the camping field (not actually in the field itself as implied by the person we checked in with), but this is subject to water pressure issues and only worked in the morning. The alternative tap is at least halfway back to the farm. Had we been told this at the farm it would have saved a further mile round trip to collect water for cooking that evening as we could have collected it on the return leg back up to the field. Most of this is particularly an issue for backpackers who a) don't carry large amounts of water, b) don't have a vehicle to use and c) arrive from the opposite direction to those coming in with vehicles if on SDW.
However some plus sides. The farmer who came round later in his pickup (seemed to be the main guy) was very friendly and helpful. It is a beautiful spot. They allow fires and seem pretty laid back. I would definitely go there again backpacking, but now would know how to improve things.
A sign at the sheep troughs pointing to the campsite and where water can be found, and ideally a concession for backpackers to pitch up and pay when the owner comes round in the evening would improve it no end for backpacking, for which otherwise it is ideal. More reliable water supply close to the site would also be great, but that seemed to be genuine problem with mains water pressure and therefore not an easy fix.
Pricing at many campsites (this one included) never seem to take account of the special case of backpackers - far smaller footprint, no car, usually only on the site for minimal time etc. Would be nice to see reduced price for backpackers more widely than just the well trodden backpacker routes - and even there it seems to be less common than it once was. Why is that?

A lovely camp site with fantastic views and plenty of walking paths.
Access to the field is by a very bumpy and long track. If you are in a 4x4 no problem but if not it will take a while to reach the field.
Just before you reach the field, stop and fill up your water storage. As this is the only tap on site.
Portaloos are the olny facility on site but are clean.
But who needs all that when the views are this good. Basic camping in a beautiful location.
