This was a very good site especially for access to walking country, there are plenty of places to walk to from the site. This is also a good central site for visiting places of interest. It is quiet and clean. We visited when there was local flooding but this site as it's high was unaffected by the wet conditions. The river Wharfe is nearby & is well worth a visit as is Bolton Abbey with it's varied nature walks of different lengths depending how fit you feel.
It's in a very lovely area.

This has to be one of the best sites we have ever visited, we loved it. It is quite a large site, with mainly hard standing pitches, so rock pegs are a must. We were pitched right next to the very well equipped kiddies play area, which was supposed to be for the over 5's, but our nearly 2 and nearly 3 year olds had hours of fun in it.
The toilet block had loads of loos, 6 or 7 showers and loads of seperate was cubicles. It was kept clean, but did look a bit old and dated, and the showers weren't the best, but they were ok.
There are loads of brilliant walks around the site, great for dog walking. Walking boots are a must!
The site is awash with wildlife. Bunnies were everywhere, we had a squirrel eating out of our hands, and the resident hedgehog sneaked into our awning and ate the dogs food!
The surrounding area is stunning. Grassington is about 2 miles away and is a beautiful little place, with lots of places to eat and shop. Skipton is about 9 miles away, and had a lovely chippy right next to the canal.
There's loads to do and see in this neck of the woods, and this site is a perfect base for your holiday. Word of warning though. Beware of the warden, she is a bit of a bossy britches!

Wonderful site. We are not given to returning to sites we visit - too many places still to see! - but this one will be an exception. You'd have to stay a month to do all the walks. Site has very big pitches (mostly hardstanding), wide access roads, the usual spotless Club facilities (it's members only), and wildlife everywhere. Even when full it's a quiet site - not for you if you like potted entertainment! Friendly wardens, lovely village of Grassington in walking distance (mile and a half) with all the shops you need - perfect! Would recommend to anyone who likes to be active on holiday and enjoy lovely scenery.

This is my favourite site of all the sites I have visited so far. The site is fantastic, the facilities are fantastic. There are wild rabbits and squirrels all over the place. The pitches are very big.Grassington is a few minutes walk away which is a lovely oldy world type place. There are beautiful waterfalls very close by and loads of exciting walks in any direction. We have been to this site in summer and at the beginning of the season and it is lovely no matter what time of year I visit. We are going again late this year. I would strongly recommend this site to every one.

First visit to this site. Well laid out, good sized pitches, showers / toilet block spotless. Excellent dog walk around the site. Visited the Old Hall Inn (10 mins walk if you take the footpath from the bottom of the site) on a couple of nights. Food excellent, service very good and doggie friendly.

Caravan Club owned and operated. Members only. Usual high standard of facilities. LOTS of dogs - if you are not canine-friendly you will have a problem. There are good dog-walking areas nearby. This is a large site which holds many caravans (no tents). The pitches are arranged in rows, fairly regimented, but we were fortunate enough to be in one of the outside rows where there is grass, trees and room to breath. The centre rows - well, it is like being in a housing estate; surely part of the reason for getting away is to avoid this. The surrounding area is lovely, with plenty to see and do. Walking - loads for the family and for the more energetic. Cycling - not much for the family but plenty hard biking. And of course the splendid Dales to explore. Good public transport and a pub at every bus stop. I agree that the pub nearby is good - the beer, Black Sheep, is well kept. The ice cream in Grassington, sold from a barrow, is the best we have ever tasted. Bar none.

Excellent site - all you would expect from the high standards of the Caravan Club. Well spaced pitches, spotless facilities. Good walks from the site, with views of the surrounding countryside. Pub at Long Ashes serves good food with a 5% discount for Caravan Club members. Would definitely return.

September 2004 Spread across 2 fields divided by a dry stone wall, and surrounded by plenty of sheltering trees (which unfortunately deprive you of some spectacular views), this is a very pleasant site indeed and with all the usual CC features.
The toilet blocks were immaculate and during our stay (when the site was full) were nearly always empty. There's even a baby/toddler bathroom with a kiddie-sized toilet, small bath and hand-held shower which is great for the little ones.
The lower field also has a small play area (although the warning signs say it is for over 5s only). You'll also see plenty of rabbits playing, with the odd pheasant thrown in for good luck.
Given the nature of the countryside in this area, there's plenty of slopes and you'll need plenty of levelling gear on some pitches. The pitches were large enough, but for some reason I felt that the site seemed cramped.
TV hookups are available (leads were on sale in the office for £10), although we found that the Status worked fine (we couldn't find Ch5 though).
The site is within 15 minutes walk from the picturesque dales town of Grassington and a short drive from the 'Historic Market Town' of Skipton and Bolton Abbey. There's also a steam railway nearby running from Embsay-Bolton Abbey. Our kids are too young for hiking, but it's ideally sited for walking on the Dales.
In summary, a pleasant site (despite the rain when we went!) and we would definitely go again.
