Nice well maintained site. Spacious pitches surrounded on a couple of sides by well manicured hedges. The toilet/shower block was very clean which ever time of day we used them. The owner couldn't have been more helpful, personally showing everybody who arrived where everything was. There's a dog walking field at one end of the site or there's a path up into the woods at the other end.
There is a pub very close, and up the hill in the village there's another, also a Chinese, a shop, café and a post office. The Chinese was one of the best we have had, reasonably priced and plentiful portions.
We would normally go further afield but as we had swapped vans we needed somewhere close just to set up and make sure everything worked, but foe a quick weekend out it was ideal and I'm sure we'll return in the future

Brookside is a very special site. We ended up staying rather longer than we'd originally intended and loved every minute there. The site is beautifully laid out, with generously sized HS pitches and a big, lovely field where we spent most of our stay. The showers, toilets and washrooms are excellent and kept spotlessly clean. There's also a good laundry room, washing-up facilities, and very good facilities for disabled visitors.
The site owner and team are lovely and couldn't have been more helpful.
This is an adults-only site, quiet without being stuffy, and very friendly. It's very dog-friendly, with a separate field for exercising dogs and fantastic walks straight off the site. Burton-upon-Stather is within easy walking distance, with a groceries shop, Post Office, cafe, and pubs. The River Trent is a 2 minute walk from the site. Behind the site is a lovely greenwood where owls hoot at night, and a footpath leading to a wonderful walk along the ridge with views across the Trent and lots of fascinating places to explore en route (we recommend Alkborough Flats nature reserve - stop off for lunch or tea and cake at the farm tearooms in Alkborough, very nice!).
The area is fascinating, with a rich history to discover, charming villages to visit, lovely countryside, and a wealth of birdlife and other wildlife.
We've been travelling for 6 months so far and our stay at Brookside has been one of the highlights. We felt very sad leaving this wonderful place and intend returning next year!

This was our second visit to Brookside after vowing always to return as it was the first site we had ever visited on our venture into camping. Changed to adult only now which was a shame as I had promised to bring the family and I don't honestly think it was necessary as children had not been a problem on my previous visit. Facilities are immaculate, piped music 24/7 in shower block, spotless showers and toilets with constant supply of hot water even if busy. Owner keen to impress and cannot do enough to help. The site is well laid out and you can be as private or sociable as you wish with your pitching. Short walk down to pub on banks of the trent or slightly longer uphill walk to the village with great food pub. Overall fully recommend this site but sadly no longer for families.

Visited Brookside for 3 nights in May, wish it could have been longer. It is situated in a very peaceful location not far from the River Trent and being adult only most of the time we were sat outside the 'van all we could hear was birds singing with the occasional 'plane going overhead. There are some nice walks down the side of the site with marvellous views over the Trent. The facilities are immaculate, spotlessly clean and had radio playing. The showers were quite spacious with plenty of hanging hooks for clothes and a seat outside the shower curtain, there were 2 in the ladies and 3 in the mens, there was also a wash cubicle, 3 toilets and 3 washbasins and a hairdryer in the ladies. The veg prep and dishwashing room was also where the book exchange was and also dvd's to borrow and some maps for walks and also the usual leaflets for local attractions. The nearest pub across the road from the site, the Ferry House, was only open evenings and didn't sell food (they're missing a good market) although it's in a lovely setting on the riverbank. The Sheffield Arms at the top of the hill serves good food reasonably priced. In the village about 10 minutes up the hill there is a minimarket, cafe and chinese takeaway which will deliver to the site. Finally must mention Richard, the owner, what a lovely man, very friendly and helpful, when he found out we were going to the new Go Outdoors store near Scunthorpe on Friday he lent us his discount card which was very kind. While we were out on Friday it was very windy and our awning decided to try to escape but Richard and 2 other gentlemen pegged it down again for us using some extra pegs Richard lent us. Was very sad to leave on the Sunday. We will return

Have visited this site many times over the past 17 years. It is a beautiful site which is kept in pristine condition by the owner. The facilities are among the best we have ever used.
For many years the site has had an ' Adults only' rule at all bank holidays and has now become 'adults only 'all year round.
It is a very peaceful site and is very good for walkers as there are many good walks around.
The owner is very friendly and helpful - but he does like visitors to appreciate the site and look after it.
It is a very handy site to visit various places this side and also the north side of the Humber Bridge.

Great site with the most friendly and helpful host. Facilities are top notch - a few more degrees of heating in the toilet block would be most advantageous.
The site is well maintained, very tidy at all times with spacious hard standing pitches. Waste disposal, CDP point etc are also of high standards.
Our only reservation is the 'Exclusively for Adults' badge? There was, although seen but not heard, minors present so it might be a policy change has taken place without the web page having been updated? We chose Brookside especially for it's 'Exclusively for Adults' statement? There might be more of the little angels in the school holidays so be warned!
We will go back, though well outside kids holiday periods!

This campsite is ideal if you want a quiet break at a five star park which is as near immaculate as you can get. The toilet/shower block is as clean as any bathroom at home, Pitches are hard standing and well kept, facilities are good. Richard the owner is very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The overall appearance of the park is outstanding If you are looking for a base to explore the local area close to the Humber bridge then this park which is open all year is a good choice. Essentially an adults only site with little provision for children, but lots of open space and a nice picnic area

Brilliant! Loved this site. It's clean and tidy throughout. The pitches are large and very private. The Facilities are immaculate. Richard, the owner, is very helpful and appears quite laid back although he works very hard. He will quite happily lend you his own maps to use when walking. Hats off to his site wardens too, who are on the go all the time to keep this site as lovely as it is.
We got a mid-week special of three nights for the price of two so it was excellent value.
There is a really big dog walking area which has a path mown all the way around it.
The nearest pub (The Ferry) next to the site, has seen better days and does not serve food. Very friendly though. The next nearest pub is in the village (The Sheffield Inn). Walk up the big hill from the site to get to it. Unfortunately, the pub was being refurbished during our stay so can't comment. The village is adequate for bits and bobs of shopping, grocery store, post office, Chinese (closed on Tuesdays), cafe.
The site has a large grassed area to the rear which is great for deer watching during the early evening.
From the site we did a circular walk into the village, then onto Flixborough and then Winterton and return. All via fields, lanes and woods. About 10-12 miles - great day out. The George Hogg in Winterton is good for food and is dog-friendly.
We will definitely return to this site because it is so nice and so friendly. Also, there are a lot more walks to do and places to visit. We also want to see how The Sheffield Inn turns out after it's refurbishment.

Our first visit to this site (2 nights, Frid/Sat). I cannot praise it enough. The Wardens & owner couldn't do enough for you. Made us feel very welcome, but not in your face.
The toilet/shower block was excellent, you would be hard pushed to find any cleaner.
The landscaping around the side was fab. Really spacous pitches
We have a dog & the walks were fantastic. The cafe @the end of a 50 min walk was lovely.
The dog excersise area was great.
Although children are allowed - there isnt much for them to do.
For us the travel time (55 mins) is excellent - we will definitely go back.
At £17 pe night EXCELLENT value.

Fantastic site, scrupulously clean, immaculately tidy.
Richard, the owner seems to take great pride in his green keeping skills and his grass edges are something to behold! In all seriousness this is a lovely site, that if we lived nearer would be our prefered regular site.
The village of Burton upon Stather has everything you should need-grocery shop, 2 pubs and a takeaway. Best of all some lovely walks leading from it. The Nev Cole Way is immediately above the site, a path at the side of the campsite leads up to it. Once up the hill an easy 50 min walk along the top to Alkborough is a must. The views across the river Trent to the Isle of Axeholme and beyond are spectacular. Once there tea and cake at the Paddocks Tea Room is very welcoming.
Cannot recommend this site enough, yes on occasions you can here the barking coming from the kennels but don't let this put you off.
