This was our first visit to this lovely site. We arrived a day early accommodating us was seen as a minor issue, the owners more than excelled themselves in siting us.
Our pitch was spacious and situated amongst a small coppice of trees, this provided some protection from the wind and rain(yeah I know summer in the UK).
The owners were very friendly without being intrusive or overbearing.
The toilet blocks were clean, but the wife was not keen on the unisex setup. There were 2 blocks, maybe they could be converted to single sex! I personally have no issue with the unisex setup.
The site itself was large and spacious, as were all the pitches, this is what sold the site to us.
The A30 was close, but easily accessible, with a slight 'hum' in the background to remind you it was there.
This is a good site to visit the rest of Cornwall from, the trip into St Austell provided many break taking moments and views.
The site was dog friendly, with plenty of space for the dog to run loose, with the main site requiring dogs to be on a lead which everyone observed without exception.
My daughter loved all the various farm animals.
The main barn was used for recreation with a TV provided, no one seemed to use the TV. But the games were constantly used, providing hours of fun for all. The fishing lake was lovely and fairly isolated which made fishing a pleasure.
The only discernable rule was 'quiet and respect after 10. 30' which everyone observed without question.
Overall the site was pleasant and would definitely be a site to use for future visits.

My wife and I have just returned from this campsite and what a great site it is. The staff could not have been more friendly. As for the toilet and shower block they were clean ( my wife can be very fussy when it comes to campsite showers but I had trouble getting her out of these ). The on site shop has all the essentials, and you have to try the fresh eggs and sausages, they were fab. They have a huge barn with sofas, tv, books and pool table, we never used it but it looked great.
We visited The Eden Project, and this is only my opinion but I found it to be a waste of money and I love plants. But then other people say its great.
We would have stayed a lot longer at this site had it not been for the Great British WEATHER. It poured down all day every day, however the pitch did not get boggy at all. Would we stay here again. Most definitely.

Just returned from a lovely few days at Mena. A lovely peaceful site, ideal location in mid Cornwall giving access to both north and south coasts, the Eden Project, Camel Trail and within easy walking distance of Helman Tor.
The site is nice and flat with decent sized pitches, staff are extremely welcoming and helpful, clean tidy toilet blocks, a central area of swings and climbing frames for the children, the reception area is also a small shop and information desk. A fantastic couple of fields to exercise the dogs (my dog wanted to live here!) A pretty fishing pond at the bottom of dog walking fields with tables and chairs to sit out and enjoy the peace and quiet.
The local village,a few minutes drive - Lanivet has one of the best Fish&Chip shops around!
There is also a Spar shop and a dog friendly pub.
I can't fault this site - the dog gave it 10/10! I gave it 9/10 only because they didn't offer a tent packing away service!
Well done Mena - I hope to return again soon!

This is such a lovely site, located close enough to the A30 but far enough away, so at most you hear a slight hum from the road if anything at all. It's very central for North and South Cornwall for days out, once you are pitched. We have visited this site twice now, both times out of season and will definitely be going back again.
Pitches are mostly flat, with a slight backward slope and there's a choice of gravel or grass, with or without hookup.
They truly are very dog friendly, with 11 acres of space to run the dogs in. There's a small fishing lake, with picnic seating close by and access to a small barbecue which is perfect on a nice day.
There's lots of space for children to run around without disturbing other visitors but close enough for you to be able to keep an eye on them and a central play area with tyre swings, climbing frame and slide. There is also a games barn with a full size snooker table, ping pong, soft seating and TV.
The proprieters are extremely helpful without being invasive.
You can buy eggs from the rescued battery chickens, which are in an enclosure in the field behind the site and visit the resident pigs who are always pleased to see you. You can buy feed for the animals in the on site shop which can provide all the usual basic provisions.
The main toilet block is open out of season and it's clean and functional and was receiving another lick of paint when we visited. (can't say about the summer block as we've never used that one.) Some might find the communal nature of the facilities off putting, but doors lock and there is plenty of privacy. We find it quite helpful to both be able to supervise the children, without feeling awkward about other camp visitors or needing to ask for keys to family bathrooms.
We would definitely recommend this site, especially to those with pets and children. It's a real gem nestling on the edge of Bodmin Moor and a gateway to the whole of Cornwall.

We stayed at Mena in August and found it to be a great family site. I would have no hesitation in recommending this family site, in fact do not tell your friends as it is best kept a secret.
The facilities are kept clean, and the showers were free! Unlike the previous post we found the unisex facilities suited the kids and in fact much safer than some sites we have stayed on, and suffered from no traffic noise. Agree the summer block is basic but was kept clean despite the weather. Liked the free freezer for blocks and free microwave.
Kids enjoyed feeding their chickens and pigs and our son loved the fishing.
5mins drive from Lanhydrock and 15mins to Eden, a good base to discover Cornwall from.

I stayed here in the summer for a short break. It's a short distance from the A30 and easy to find using the site's instructions (not Satnav which gets very confused).
It's about 20-30 minutes drive from the Eden project, and a shorter drive to the National Trust house, Lanhydrock. The site owner was great - really friendly and helpful. The site was well kept with lovely flowers around and a good walk through the fields.
Pitches were of a good size and the owner talked to us about which one would suit us best, which was nice. There is a children's play area in the middle of the camping fields with lots of space around it.
A negative for me was the road noise - although the immediate area around the site is quiet, it's near enough the A30 for there to be a constant hum. That may not bother some people, but it's my pet hate!
The toilets were okay - the permanent block was better than the summer block and had a washing machine and washing up sinks. The summer toilet block was quite tatty and could have done with a thorough clean-up and some general maintenance.
Overall it was pleasant site but the road noise would stop me going back for longer.

We loved this campsite and would def recommend it. We stayed there with our two kids who also loved it.
The great thing is you camp at the edge of the small field and there is a little play area in the middle and some football goal posts and a basketball net. We could let the kids think they were being independent but we were watching them all the time!
The owners are lovely and I loved the fact they were around but not in an imposing way - very helpful. The shop is open a lot of the time which is also helpful.
The toilet blocks were my only moan, they were clean but basic. I am just a toilet block snob - other people would think they are fine. There is an iron and a laundry room, also a free hairdryer which is really useful. I thought it was a bit weird that both toilet blocks were unisex so I was reluctant to let my daughter go toilet on her own - I personally would rather not have to go toilet with men around but again I may be being fussy. There are two loo blocks so I thought they could easily make them separate.
The site has a lake where you can go fishing and it has lovely views from the back field. It is in a great place right near to the fantastic Eden Project. Apart from the toilet block it was my favourite campsite, lovely and quiet, small but enough for the kids to do. Def try it out I am sure you will love it too.

Just returned from a week here, would have stayed longer if commitments hadn't prevented it. We in a party of 7/8 (Bond Mini car Rally) other units all of whom found the site friendly and accommodating. The owners (family) were very friendly & helpful and made sure you were comfortable and not in need without imposing any silly rules.
There are two small (clean) toilet blocks with showers, microwave, washing machine/dryer, disabled toilet/shower, games room and children's playing area. What else could you want? There is a small shop and fishing pond/picnic area on site too!
Ideally suited for visiting the vast amount of places of interest both locally and further afield. Plenty of places to eat including a good pub and fish and chips in Lanivet.
Oh, and must mention the site owners dog. Jess. A lovely gentle dog, well mannered great with the children and with a taste for decent BBQ food! Loved her.

Excellent campsite, with a very warm welcome! Couldn't ask for more. The little shop has all the little necessities you can think of, spare gas cans, food bits, everything essential. Good, clear, clean pitches. Excellent advice on local walks etc and did their very best with transport to and from Eden as we were there for an Eden session. They put a coach on, to which we all contributed. Bacon and eggs cooked on the Sunday morning (at a very reasonable price and all locally supplied). Fantastic service throughout, nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend this site and its owners if you are visiting this region

Lovely quiet rural site with easy access of the A30, not too narrow for the caravan.
Nice owners welcoming and guided us to our pitch which was level and well maintained plus a good size. View from the caravan across the site over towards the play area to the middle, great for keeping an eye on the little ones.
Lovely walk across fields passing the pigs and chickens ( which kids loved daily ). Good little shop selling essentials, esp the bacon and eggs!
Only downside was the shower blocks, basic small but usable. Would not put us off returning though.
