Lovely, lovely, lovely! Highly recommended.
Excellent customer service - I made a mistake with the date of the booking and subsequently requested an extra pitch for accompanying family members and an extra night - all changes accommodated with good humour by owners via email and in person when we arrived.
The purpose of the visit was to attend a weekend of Eden Sessions and it is an excellent site for this and a taxi able distance.
Facilities are fine, all bases covered.
I hate bossy notices and the only one I saw without a 'please' as the first word was the standard 'all visitors must report to reception'!
I am pleased that this is a dog friendly site and we will definitely return, with Labrador, to explore the area. There is a beautiful field to exercise dogs freely, and the lake and lilies are lovely.
Finally, on Sunday morning after 'striking camp' we were trying to decide where to go for breakfast when, oh serendipity, my daughter discovered freshly made egg and bacon rolls being prepared by the owners, they were absolutely delicious and an excellent send-off. Also on offer was tea and good quality instant coffee.
Just perfect.

Just got back from staying at the Mena campsite for 6 nights and found it to be a lovely site with very friendly owners. We were situated behind a few trees so that acted as a good windbreak and the pitches were plenty big enough. The facilities were good, never had to queue and the shower in the smaller toilets was lovely! There is a small shop with essentials - very handy, and the bacon and eggs were to die for! Yum. There is a kids play area in the middle of the field and a barn with ping pong and snooker and in the back field there are chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese and 2 gorgeous pigs, and beautiful views. It is quite central to all the places we visited but did get lost once or twice trying to find it again, our fault for not paying attention. All in all a lovely stay, shame about the weather on the first two days though. Big thanks to the owners who we didn't get a chance to say goodbye to, spoke to their daughter as they had gone away for weekend.

I cannot praise this wonderful caravan/camping site enough. It is in such a beautiful idyllic location, peaceful and relaxing, with good clean facilities. Ian, Sue, Ralph and Kirsty are the nicest people you could wish for, despite Ian being a 'Pongo', I didn't hold it against him though! They were all such a very kind, helpful and friendly bunch. Even the dogs made us all very welcome and took my dog Jack under their wing and into the pond! And the horse's came to say hello and left a pressie, which I didn't appreciate at the time due to lack of roses.
We really couldn't have enjoyed our stay more. We had the peace and tranquillity of the site with its beautiful walks down to the lake, fishing and games room, with the benefits of local amenities (pub, chippy and supermarkets)close by for comfort plus centrally located for all the wonderful attractions throughout Cornwall - couldn't have asked for more.

We visited Mena during probably the worst summer in recent years - It poured it down the whole time we were there
However this was a really well run site with very friendly owners who were only too pleased to help out in any way they could
The shop was small but well stocked with essentials and the games barn kept the kids amused in the wet weather
The shower facilities were limited when we visited but I believe that the owners were in the process of building some more
The pitches were ample and the ground very well maintained - despite all the rain we didn't get any flooding in the tent
I would recommend the site to anyone visiting the Eden project or exploring that part of Cornwall and we are likely to visit again next time we are down there

A small site offering a very personal service. Good sized pitches with plans to add more hard standing pitches in future. New owners have improved the site and despite the small main unisex wash block (Very well maintained, clean and very warm over New Year!) they are planning to add more facilities as soon as they can.
The site is mid point for North or South Coast beaches just a 3 minutes drive off the A30. Good location to cover whole district.
Cannot praise the owners enough for their welcome and support throughout the stay. Book yourself a visit here, you won't regret it.

Beautifully landscaped site, extremely well maintained, toilet and showers very clean (cleaned several times throughout the day). Play area and games barn for children, large area for dog walking, the fishing lake although having plenty of room for anglers is obviously kept in a manner to attract wildlife (fantastic!).
There is a small shop selling essentials alongside the more obscure objects required by campers.
Within a couple of minutes drive to the National Trust's Lanhydrock House, also very near to the Eden Project both well worth visiting.
The local pub/restaurant in Lanivet has very friendly staff and lovely freshly cooked food.
Sue, Ian, Kirsty and Ralph (the owners) are very welcoming and helpful and understand the needs of campers and caravanner's.
We have already returned to this site several times following the new ownership and are looking forward to returning in the near future and would have no hesitation in recommending this family run site.

We spent a very wet 10 days here but still had a lovely time.No problems with mud. The games room was very handy to keep the children amused and they made lots of friends.
As said before ,the new owners are a lovely family and have lots of plans for next year. The toilets were a bit dated but were kept immaculately clean. The playground was great ,enough equipment to keep everyone busy, plus football goals and a basketball net.
It was close to the A30 so was central to get to most places with plenty to see.
This is a gem of a site and we will not hesitate to go back.

Rarely are my expectations exceeded so much as just happened on a short visit to the Mena campsite. It wasn't just the stunning location or the well-kept campsite itself that provided the major surprise, it was mainly the owners (new in March this year, apparently) that managed in such a short space of time (we were only there Friday night to Monday morning) to amaze me with their friendliness and generosity.
Starting with our late arrival on Friday night (we'd been on the Isles of Scilly and had been delayed waiting for our camping gear to be unloaded from the Scillonian) we were instantly made to feel welcome even after turfing one of the owners out of the farmhouse after a long day himself. Our two daughters (aged 10 and 14) were beginning to feel a bit homesick for our Springer Spaniel who was at home with dog sitters, so to discover a 5 month-old Springer puppy at the campsite was a bonus, to be followed by the news that they were welcome to walk her (and the other campsite dog, a gorgeous labradoodle) at any time was just the tonic they both needed.
The tent pitches are large and spaced out around the edge of a large central field with a few climbing frame / swings etc for younger children. You never felt crowded even when pitches on each side of you were being used. Drinking water (a tiny touch over-chlorinated, especially when boiled) was easily accessed and there were adequate toilet and shower facilities (a few more showers are needed for peak times!). The reception area sells essentials at decent prices (other campsites are guilty of overpricing these items sometimes, but not here) including ice creams and bottled water.
The games room is basic but fun for the odd hour here and there when the barbecue is being done, with table-tennis, table-football, air-hockey, snooker, darts and a tv & dvd.
There is a small fishing lake that has been allowed to run a bit to seed, with a huge over-profusion of nuisance goldfish present that strip baits intended for the larger carp that lurk in the green waters. However, the owners have plans in place to trade in several hundred of the goldfish for some more quality-sized fish and this will lead to a far better and more usable facility.
I cannot praise this site or its owners highly enough. I think they need to keep half an ear on some of the noisier campers after 10:30pm as there was a group verging on being annoying on the other side of the field. I think if we'd been closer I'd have asked the owners to have a word with them, but I'm sure that it would have been dealt with swiftly and effectively if needed.
Put this place at the top of your list when in the area, it's a little gem. Thanks for the stay guys - see you next time!

Lovely campsite. Owners were very welcoming and couldn't be more helpful, but also left you alone to enjoy your holiday. We went with my parents and had three dogs between us and was really great to have two fields adjoining the camping fields that were for walking the dogs. The owners were very relaxed (even when our dogs escaped a couple of times!) The owners informed us they had only bought the campsite in March and were eager at to hear any suggestions we might have to improve anything. They told us of all their plans for improvement, including building new shower blocks and extending the camping areas.
Camping field was at top of a valley above the village of Lanivet with stunning views. The pitches are very large and only round the edge of the field so even when full you wouldn't feel crowded. The grass was always kept short so even if it rained continually-like when we were there you didn't get too wet. We were pitched next to a partition hedge which added to the feeling of privacy.
The showers and dishwashing facilities were free and we didn't have to queue at all.
The reception area did sell a few items (and ice-creams!) and although not always open there was a number on the door that you could ring at any time and the owners would come out and open it up.
Many more good things to recommend this site.
Would certainly return.

A gem of a site, green and well kept located in an open situation in beautiful countryside, with good views all around. Friendly and enthusiastic new owners (who clearly understand their customers) have just taken over, and are working hard on upgrading some of the facilities - a new reception area is now open, and increases to the number of hook-ups/hardstandings etc are planned. You are assured of a very warm welcome here. The toilet/shower facilities are kept immaculately clean, with abundant hot water. There is a games room in a barn (ping-pong etc, no slot machines - great!), and there is some childrens play equipment on the main field. The pitching area is mainly open grass, with shelter provided by boundary hedging and some landscape planting around the site. The grass is maintained in excellent condition, and the ground drains well in wet weather (useful in Cornwall.) - so no mud problems! The site is now open all year. There is also a small lake and a couple of adjacent grass fields accessible to site users for walking etc. This site will appeal to anyone who wishes to 'get away', it has always been a green oasis of a site completely non-commercialised, and its charms are obvious on that basis. Well located in mid-Cornwall, with easy access off the A30 at the western end of the Bodmin by-pass, and within easy reach of some good attractions (Lanhydrock/Eden Project etc). The last 500yds of access is via a narrow lane, but rest assured it is only 500yds, on a near deserted lane (we've towed a large caravan up and down there numerous times with no problems) - and it is worth it! Highly recommended.
