I will echo the the point of the helpful chap who shows you to your pitch even if he did stand in front of my mirror when I was reversing, he did give good instructions but I can reverse quite competently! The P&Q is good too.
Clean toilet/shower block
But if camping in 'Sardine City' is your thing then go to Ladycross. The (small awning) on the unit next to us was less than ONE metre away. The water taps and waste water disposal are so far away that many campers took their containers in the car!
In addition to this there is only ONE dustbin point which is near the reception and is a long way from the pitches, the ground does not drain well and the water from mondays rain was still oozing through the groundsheet on friday, despite being dry since then.

Attractive site. Wardens very helpful, seeing us to our site.Plenty of room for us and awning.
Toilets clean. Lovely big showers.
Good dog walk, but a pity some people didn't pick up after their dogs!
The ground was a little wet when we arrived, but soon dried out under the awning. We did flood though when it rained hard which was a bit disconcerting, as we were sleeping in the annex.
Lidl and Spar and garage not too far away.
Recommend the fish and chip van which calls at the site on Friday evening.
We had a lovely week, enhanced by the lovely weather. I would recommend this site as a quiet restful base to explore from.

The campsite is well laid out with plenty of space for our touring caravan and large awning and nearly all pitches are level with only a few hardstanding pitches.
The Toilet facilities are very modern and very clean with plenty of hot water and toilet roll. The electricity supply is approx 10 amps with plenty of water points dotted around so you are not too far from the service points.
There is no clubhouse but the local pubs in egremont are good and serve good food and are very child and dog friendly only downside is it is a 20 minute walk to them.
If you want to go to whitby it is 6 miles from the campsite, a taxi fare from whitby to the campsite cost £8 for a 5 seater cab after midnight which we felt was very reasonable.
There are plenty of walks in the area for the more fit campers / ramblers.
For children on the campsite there is not much for them to do, there is a nature walk and a small play area, which we did not see, its a case of making friends and making there own fun.
There are a few site rules which are for the benefit of all the campers ;
Noise levels to be reduced by 10 pm
Dogs on leads at all times
No ball games / kites etc near caravans/tents but there is an area set aside for ball games.
The staff are very helpful and knowlegable about trips out bus services etc.
All in all if you stay here for RnR you will not be disappointed I will stay here again without any hesitation

Just returned from damp and foggy week at Ladycross, very nice setting in pine woods and staff very helpful. Like others we were escorted to our pitch and assisted with setting up, but on a negative note, pitches are too close together. The site is dark with no lighting, and lights in toilet block go out at night ,which caused me a major problem when I was struck with a sickness and diarrhea bug only armed with a torch with fading batteries ! Not a nice experience

We have stayed at this site a few times over the last few years and have always found it friendly and well kept.
There is a card activated security barrier at the entrance/exit to give some security to the site.
The owner and staff are extremely helpful and work hard to keep everything so clean and tidy.
The site itself is about 4 or 5 miles from Whitby and situated among lovely woodland surroundings. If sun or shade on your pitch are important to you, I suggest you specify preference when you book.
The site does get busy during high season so early booking is advisable as many of the pitches are held by seasonal campers.
There is lots of woodland for children to explore, but little else to do as nothing is provided specifically for children. There is no field to play on and ball games are not permitted.
A new shower block was added recently sporting more contemporary decor, however we preferred the old block as the showers were hotter and more powerful. There are laundry facilities on site but unfortunately were closed for repair during our stay.
Essentials can be bought from the site shop including free range eggs. Dog owners beware though, dogs are welcome, but the free range eggs come from the free range hens walking around the site so dogs must be kept on leads at all times. Good dog walking routes with waste bins are available.
People who take a lot of electrical gear on holiday may be disappointed to find a 10 amp supply on site so expect a few outings to the electric point to flick the trip switch.
A vehicle is definitely needed on this site as it is in the sticks somewhat with very little within close walking distance.
We found the tv reception to be poor compared to most sites we have stayed at, but with so much to do and see around the area it was no biggie for us.
If you like a drink it's bring your own as the site lacks a club house which we prefer as it really is a peaceful site in the evenings.
All in all, it's a good quiet site with friendly staff in pleasant surroundings. Families with children may be disappointed with the lack of facilities for the kids.

We booked here as it was the only site in the area that vacancies over the bank holiday at very short notice and we loved it. We were shown to our site by a very pleasant member of staff. I would say he helped unhitch and manoeuvre the caravan into position but in reality he did it all by himself. He also made sure we had room for our gazebo and even offered to help put it up.
The site was beautiful. We were actually situated in the corner meant for motorhomes and we loved it. Plenty of room and all the other vans were screened off with mature pine trees. The wildlife was amazing. We were a bit of a distance from the shower / toilet blocks but they were spotlessly clean. We spent 5 lovely days here and can't wait to return.
The one piece of advice I would give is don't rely on the satnav to get you there. It takes you into the village itself and round some dodgy roads. Instead just look for the campsite signs from the A172 and you'll have no problems

The managers have to rank as the friendliest that we have had the pleasure of meeting.
The pitches are small, and mostly grass. We stayed when it wasn't full so didn't feel on top of anyone else although I could imagine when full it would be a bit tight. We stayed near the new toilet block. This we found to be spotless every time we used it. One point of caution, there is a sensor for the lights in the shower area, however, if you spend too long getting your shower and there is no one else around you could find yourself in the dark. The sensor has been put in the wrong place!
Fish and chip van that visits on a Fri was great. We ventured into Egton one night to eat, but be warned you need to book, its not the type of village where you can just get a bar meal.
Thought the site was in a nice setting, and not too far from Whitby but nothing much within walking distance you need to drive.
Not a site for young kids and nothing for them to do.

I know this is each to their own but nevertheless I hope this helps. We sited our caravan here at a cost of just over £1100 for the season.
The managers of this site are brilliant, warm, friendly and go out of their way to help but the owners? Bad, never seen despite living in a big house on the site and get all this money and pump nothing back into it apart from a new shower block.
The whole site is grass based and the ground is really really boggy so gets water logged easily, we have an awning for the van and couldn't put that up at all, at any time in 2008.
May be 2008 was just a freak year but charging the prices they do, why on earth they keep it all grass is beyond me.
On the plus side, apart from the managers who got all the hassle last year which should have been directed to the owners, the setting amongst all the great trees is good and it's within distance of Whitby and all the great little villages of the Moors so maybe as a long weekend break it might not be so bad. As long as the weather's decent!

Visited here end of July and the weather was great - bit of sea fog in Whitby but this didn't detract from overall enjoyment of the holiday.
We went here with another member of the family and got pitches 11 and 12, near to the new toilet block. Set in a pine forest, very relaxing and quiet.
Facilities are excellent although we tended to use the older showers as the new ones have push buttons so the water keeps turning off!The older showers have constant running water. Adequate washing up and laundry facilities and plenty of fresh and waste water points but only 1 elsan point (be careful a when emptying, if you drop your lid you'll never see it again!)
Small shop onsite selling basics, loads of local info and newspapers can be ordered. The wardens were friendly and helpful all through our stay and had good knowledge of the local area.
Have to recommend the fish and chips from the mobile van - calls every Friday evening, delicious, cooked to order and good value for money.
Although there is no play area, with a little bit of imagination kids can have a wonderful time exploring the site and the woods. We didn't see the local Deer but did hear the stags calling every evening - sounded very close!
All in all, a lovely site, value for money and cant wait to go back again, hopefully sometime soon.

We booked this site at the last minute as it was the Whitby Regatta and the town was very busy.
Upon arrival we were met by a lovely man who once we had sorted out the booking showed us to our pitch and even assisted us with unhooking our caravan from the car and positioning the caravan.
We were in amongst the seasonal pitches but it was very pleasant and quiet.
The facilities were clean and within easy reach and a little shop was a hit with our 4 year old son who liked the Ice Creams.
The site is located within easy reach of Whitby about 5 miles away. It is easily reached via the main road and sign posted.
The biggest disappointment was the number of what can only be described as petty rules. One example was when our family came to drop us off after a day out nearby. I am a disabled person and we also had someone who had had surgery a week earlier amongst our party. When we pulled up outside our caravan a man instructed us to move immediately as visitors cars were not allowed to park next to the caravans and must go into the allocated visitors parking. Whilst I accept and totally understand the necessity for such rules it was a very unpleasant feeling to be pounced upon by this man and told in no uncertain terms to move. After I had explained I was disabled and that they were just dropping me off he still insisted that the car was moved immediately. He left and then came back a minute later and said in a very off hand manner 'and have you informed reception that you have visitors'. When I explained I had and asked him if he worked here he said he owned the place.
A lovely place but not sure if we will go back as a result. Finally, there was a lovely touch of a local fish and chip van turning up on the Friday night which was wonderful.
