We had a lovely 3 night stay at this campsite. It had been very wet weather and the site is mainly grass, but we were able to park in a pitch near the facilities and the gravel track into the field so we were lucky. The site is gently sloping and some tents higher up the field were on uneven and sodden ground (they enjoyed their stay though!)
The facilities for a small site were excellent, the shower rooms were spacious (with a seat & area for drying and dressing) and toilets were spotless, especially considering the muddy conditions!
The managers were very helpful and welcoming.
We chose the site so that we didn't need to move the van all weekend! We walked to Bewl Water (which is very pretty), Scotney Castle (National Trust) and Lamberhurst Vinyard (which has a very nice bistro and coffee shop!). If you like to be treated to an olympic cooked breakfast then Little Chef is a 5 minute walk on A21.
We intend to visit again!

We were taken under Gio and Francis' wings after initially booking into a campsite nearby - when we arrived at that one the children threatened mutiny! We had seen this site on our travels so took a chance that there would be a vacancy - we were delighted to find a warm and friendly welcome on this peaceful site! Thankyou!
Facilities are basic but kept clean and tidy, 5 loos and 4 showers.
We all had a fabulous 4 nights here despite variable weather - superb walk to Bewl Water which is highly recommended! Small children's play area which kept the youngest of the group entertained and sufficient space to play frisbee or a ball game.
Would definitely return to Cedar Gables and recommend the site to those who are looking for something small but perfectly formed! If you need all mod cons and entertainment on tap then maybe this site isn't for you !
We can only thank Gio and Francis for their warm welcome and hope to see them again soon !

There were five of us in our folding camper. Our children are 2, 4 and 6. My brother and his wife also stayed in their tent with their 15 year old daughter.
For those in a hurry. We really liked this site, and it's quite cheap. For those with a little more time, read on!
The site has two parallel fields both rectangular in shape and about 150m in length. You drive in at the bottom of each field. Both slope upwards from the entrance and chocks/levellers would be advisable. There is also a slope from left to right, with the right field lower than the left. Pitches are arranged on the outside of the fields. We stayed on the left field. There are a few flatter pitches near the top.
The five toilets and four showers are situated just before the entrance to the fields. The amenities are all on the left field. From the entrance on the left is the washing up sink and grey waste. Then there is the chemical waste disposal. Halfway up the left field is a campers hut. A three piece suite, and fridge freezer and some books and local info.
There are hook-ups and the owners are very helpful with chocks and stuff if you 'forget' stuff. They helped with their small tractor those folk who were unable to move their units on the wet grass.
There was plenty of space despite being full.
It's quiet at night and this is not a party site. It's fun though and there were kids a plenty.
The site is sheltered by the local woods, but it is near the main A21. The traffic noise was noticeable, but it did quieten down at night.
Site is nice and professional, whilst being relaxed. I'd say it's a serious campsite, but it's not strict or oppressive if you know what I mean.
There is no on site shop.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Local shop is about five miles away in Hawkhurst, or 6 miles at the BP/MArks and Spencer service station on A21. THe Budgens is really nice and well stocked. There are other shops there too including a chippie!
Also in Hawkhurst is the Royal Oak (not the one on the A21 in Flimwell). We all went there for a meal. Gourmet Pizza was very good, Mussels were well cooked for the Moules Frites. For the eight of us with drinks and some starters the bill was £83. Less than a tenner a head, including drink BARGAIN! They were child friendly and relaxed. There is a Little Chef opposite the campsite, but I don't like these. It's a personal choice. There is also a posher restaurant in Kilndown. They only take children 'IF they're well behaved' . Mine are, but I find it oppressive when they have to state it.
BEWL WATER is well worth a visit. You can walk it, but it's not far to drive. £6 for the car park all day. But there is so much to see and do. Great place to picnic or have a latte (Ok Yah, and a chibatta or pannini if the mood takes! ).Lots of play and a fantastic hidden wooden fort for the kids.
It's worth the visit, and it's cheap too!

We originally booked a pitch at Park Farm site but didn't stay as it was not suitable and just happened on this site as we were making our way home (children not best pleased!). They had one pitch left which we were incredibly grateful for (children over the moon). This site is lovely, not many pitches and lots of room. There was no loud music or people drinking. This is a real family site. The facilities were always clean and tidy.
We went to Bodiam Castle one day and then did the walk to Bewl Water on the next day. It is a lovely walk but longer than we expected and it was very hot.
We will certainly return!

We spent one night at Cedar Gables. Just us ( 2 person tent) and two caravans so it was quiet and no demand upon the 'facilities'.
A21 noise was bit obtrusive but we soon got used to that.
Very good location for Bewl Water and we would recommend the La Zia Maria Italian restaurant in Goudhurst. On the whole a good stop.

We are regular visitors to Cedar Gables, It is faifly close to us so if we fancy a quick weekend break it is ideal.
We have had several longer stays as it is a great base for exploring the local attractions and beauty spots. Hastings, Bodiam Castle, BedgeBury Forest (a must for cyclists walkers and the kids) And of course Tunbridge Wells are all within a short drive. If you don't want to drive there is a splendid walk to Bewl water.
The site itself is quiet and peaceful and the Mogans treat us like family. We look forward to many more visits here.

We visited this site for our first camping trip and found the hosts to be welcoming, explaining where all the various facilities of the site were and giving us a printed sheet with the site rules.
There is a charge of 50p for a shower, although we didin't use them as the site was so close to our home. There are two fields, and both of these are on a slope (I believe one is for Camping & Caravan club members.)
The site is on a main road and there is traffic noise throughout the night but you don't hear it after a while.
We arrived back at the site at dusk and it was a little hard to find, if it hadn't been for us knowing about the Little Chef just up the road we would have driven straight past!
All in all a very pleasant site with lots to do nearby.

Had a lovely weekend here - mainly because of the glorious weather. Campsite basically one big field with Camping and Caravan Club members on one side of a partition fence, and everyone else on the other side. Facilities are basic but fine - showers hot and 5 mins is plenty!
Tents are pretty close to each other but site was very quiet. There is a slope but pitching was OK - main problem was stopping the wine bottle sliding off the table. Surrounding area great - Bedgbury is a must if you have children. Get there early. Bodiam Castle is great too. Didn't get to Bewl Water.

Used this site to try out a new tent, found the owners very friendly and pointed out which way to walk to Bewl water. The showers were clean and the token system allowed plenty of time for a shower. An ideal place to stay to visit the local attractions and I will definitely return.

Just arrived home after a great weekend at this site. The owners were really friendly and welcoming, after our first night they asked if everything was OK, we said that we had been a bit cold, they then turned up with hot water bottles and quilts for us to borrow! The site is really easy to find, just off the A21 almost opposite a Little Chef restaurant, there is a luminous sign at the entrance and a good wide drive to pull into. The camping field is well away from the road, tucked in behind their house and well protected by surrounding trees. We weren't bothered by the traffic at all. There is a great kids playground and we were impressed by the large barbecue which is there for general use. They don't allow bonfires which we were really pleased about, we have seen a tent literally melt in front of our eyes when a spark landed on it. We also welcomed the "no noise after 11pm" rule, we were sure of a good nights sleep. The toilets and showers were kept very clean, there were quite a lot of units in the over the weekend, every time I went to use the facilities they were spotless. There is so much to do in the surrounding area, great cycling and walking at Bewl and Bedgebury and loads of National Trust properties. Also new at Bedgebury is a "Goape" course, excellent fun for big kids and adults. We are going back in a couple of weeks time, when we asked if we could stay again the owners asked if we would like to leave our wet tent hanging in their barn. We accepted their offer.
