I stayed here as a weekend stop to visit famliy who live in Tunbridge Wells. We travelled in the afternoon and arrived once it was dark. Note, if you drive past you have a very long way to keep going before you reach the next roundabout to turn around. Once on the driveway, there are no lights so getting the van up there safely was a little awkward especially as the drive way was narrow. Anyway, once on this site we were directed to out pitch, at the bottom of the hill, next the entrance to the field. This was a real squeeze getting the van in, thank goodness for the motor mover, without it we would not have been able to do it, the ground was so wet and muddy that the car was sliding all over the place. The electric hookup for this pitch was plugged into a normal outdoor socket and then converted from a standard household three pin plug to the blue connector suitable for the EHU The site is on a slight slope, but is secluded and you cannot see the road at all, although you can hear it as it is one of the main routes through to the seaside! You soon switch off to the gentle hum of road noise though. The showers were token operated, available from the main house and were ok, they did the job and we got clean. Fresh water and waste points are on the main field, and the wheelie bins were by the facilities block. Hastings and other seaside resorts are about 20 minutes away in the car for anice day out, or the lovely Royal Tunbridge Wells is just 15 minutes away. We went out in Tunbridge on the Saturday night and fortunately got a lift from a friend, as when we enquired for the cost of a taxi, we were advised it would be £20 there and £40 home, we declined the cab and got a lift! There is a petrol station about 2 minutes drive away which sold pretty much everything you would need, or for larger shopping go into Tunbridge. Two great camping and caravanning stores are quite close by too. Overall a nice site, quite small

Lovely and friendly little site. Only £8 a night in a small field. We were there mid week and they only had one field open which was fine. There are 5 showers and 4 toilets, showers 50p for 5 minutes. Good location walking distance to Bewel Waters which is a great location for a day out fishing, walking or - hire the bikes and it is a beautiful ride around the lake. Also great location for visiting the National Trust and gardens around like Sissinghurst and Great Dixter etc. Only downside is the road that runs outside the farm - I think it is the main route for traffic heading up to the M25 and it is busy day and night and is quite noisy. All in all a great little campsite with lovely helpful owners in a great location on Kent Sussex boarder. Only downside is the busy road.

The campsite is separated into 2 fields by a wire fence. The whole site is sloping, but level areas can be found. The entire site is grass, apart from paving close to the toilet block, so be prepared to get a bit of mud on your shoes during the rainy season. There is a fenced-off children's play area which is in good condition. The toilet/shower-block has 5 toilets and 4 showers. There is a separate hut, with a butler sink and hot and cold water, for rinsing dishes etc.
I stayed for 2 nights with 2 of my children - 4 yrs & 7yrs. The owners were very welcoming and opened up the second field, although we could have fitted into the first field. I asked about cycling to Bewl Water and the owner - Jo - came out to find me the following morning with a leaflet & directions. There was a bit of traffic noise from the nearby A21 at night, but I'm a light sleeper.
Would definitely go back again. I found it to be a very friendly site, where the children could have a bit of freedom without running wild. The site is basic but the facilities were clean & working. Even staying on a Friday & Saturday night, there was no late night noise or disturbance.

Like another reviewer we use this site when sailing at Bewl. It's a small site with simple but clean facilities (showers cost 50p).It can suffer a little from traffic noise from the A21 especially if you are near the entrance. Cheap though and fine for short stays.

This is a lovely peaceful little site. There are two fields - one which appears to be "bookable" to other just a "turn up and see" field. Both are on a slope, but its fairly gentle so its not really an issue. After booking in you are handed a list of campsite rules - the usual stuff, but it helps to make sure everyone is singing from the same hymm book as far as camping etiquette goes, so any noise when off promptly and the site was lovley and quiet for bedtime. There is a small play area for kids - they seemed to enjoy it and plenty of space if the big kids or playing boules - 4 games going on when we were there. The showers (token) and toilets are clean and adequate - the occasional small wait, but nothing too bad. There is a drinking water / rinsing area provided too.
Owners are friendly and helpful and the surrounding are has plenty to keep you occupied - not far from Bewl Water and not too much of a distance from Hastings. A good little site to which we will be returning

Revisited the site, and there have been a few changes since my last stay. An extra toilet has been opened up, as well as a revitalised children's play area. Jo Morgan has been working hard publishing detailed cycle route maps for the local area, which cost a moderate 20p, and a terrific cycling area has been opened up in Bedgebury forest, just down the road. It's also possible to rent bikes at Bedgebury. Once again, we had a great time while we were there.

This is a lovely site. Very quiet with adequate and clean facilities. The children loved the little play area they have there and the owners were very friendly and helpful. Lamberhursts Bewl Water is well worth the visit and only cost us as a family 5 quid to get in! Will hope to visit this campsite again very soon.

What a great site! Situated in an area where there is just so much to do, we extended our 4 day visit into 8 days and then returned again the following week. The site is very well run, the owners are very friendly and helpful. They have a lot of knowledge of the area. There are fantastic walks from the site. A new playground has been built this year and the kids love it. We found everybody on the site to be so friendly. There were some large groups staying but they all obeyed the "no noise after 11pm" rule so we slept well. Will certainly be using this site regularly. Good idea to book in advance as it is very popular.

February 2005 We stay at this site several times during the year. It is on a slightly sloping field which has flat areas, we have always managed to pitch on a flat area. The toilet situation has never been a problem, a third toilet is opened up when the site is busy. We have never had to wait more than two mins. If kids can't manage the footpath to Bewl Water then they won't be able to manage the path around Bewl Water!
The site owners are really friendly and helpful. The site is very well situated for loads of National Trust properties and is in a great cycling area. Try Bedgbury forest which is just up the road and of course Bewl Water is a must.
