Lovely well maintained site with beautiful views, there is an excellent restaurant on the site and the facilities are extremely clean and well equipped, the first site I have ever been on that had hot water in the toilet disposal point. The only negative is the advertised Wifi, they are quick to take your money and it is expensive but it just does not work, there is no access at all and if you complain to the Administrator as requested via. Email it is completely ignored, don't waste your money

Excellent site - well kept grounds, superb play park for children in full view of caravan (depending on pitch). Friendly and helpful staff, great shower facilities and fantastic and very popular on site restaurant (recommend booking beforehand). Lots of activities nearby, would definitely visit this site again.

Not sure which site the last reviewer was staying at! This was our first visit to The Woods and all we can say is WOW!
The site is beautifully maintained and the grass looked manicured to say the least. Warm, friendly welcome from the site warden despite our late arrival and nice to be allowed to choose our own pitch.
Although the site appeared busy with lots of caravans and motorhomes it was very peaceful with great views as many other reviewers have mentioned.
The toilet facilities have to be seen to be believed - absolutely spotless despite the wet weather. Worthy winner of Loo of the Year and a credit to the cleaner!
The site is well placed for visiting Stirling and the Trossachs. Newly updated Battle of Bannockburn centre just a short drive away as is Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument.
We had dinner at The Woodsman restaurant (located at entrance to site) on Saturday night and would give it 10/10 also. Staff and service super and the food was delicious at a very reasonable cost. Probably best to book here in advance.
All in all we had a great weekend and would definitely recommend this site to anyone visiting central Scotland.

Although site is fairly remote, the views are lovely and the walks nearby are excellent. Quite expensive for its remoteness and the laundry cost is the highest I've seen so far. Very disappointed that only one of the two toilets blocks were open and they don't appear to get cleaned daily. The showers were a disgrace all three flooded the entire shower area and weren't particularly clean. This was obviously not a recent problem and a little bit of heads up from the wardens would have helped. The motorhome waste disposal point, mentioned in a review in September, was still broken and yes, I agree a health and safety issue. Site is lovely and quiet and peaceful at this time of year which is what I like but my stay was spoilt by lack of decent shower facilities and their apparent lack lustre approach to repairs
|
Management response: Whilst we are very disappointed that this customer has reason to complain, once again we would have appreciated some notification during their stay and not some weeks after on a website notice board.
The shower block referred to does get cleaned every day, but it is an inevitable aspect of the facility that someone will not clean up after use and leaves the mess for the next user. On the 6th December of this year we were awarded the National prize in the Loo of the Year Competition for our category and you do not win that award with facilities that are a "disgrace".
With regards to the motorhome disposal point, we had replaced the cover for the third time this year in October and shortly after, another motorhome drove over the cover and broke it again. We have now replaced this cover with a heavy duty type which should be able to take the weight of any motorhome which decides to drive onto it.
We do hope that this customer returns to our park and gives us an opportunity to show them that we do have excellent facilities and the wardens are not lack lustre in our approach to ongoing repairs. |

We visited this site on the way North on our tour of Scotland and were impressed enough to use it for the last two nights of our holiday too. The site is in a beautiful setting. There are level gravel pitchess and great opportunities for dog walking at the foot of the beautiful Ochils. Facilities are excellent The shower blocks with piped music and modern plumbing were warm and clean. The site is geared mainly to caravans and motorhomes and a few enormous examples were to be seen on the lower field.

Wow, gorgeous site. Visited this site last year and returned for the bank holiday weekend at the start of May as the kids had raved about the site from last year and had asked to go back. Site did not disappoint. Spectacular views, generous pitches - we stayed on a serviced pitch at the top of the site, there are new services pitches being build further down, nearer the playpark, which in my opinion is where the best location for the views over the Ochils are, they were not ready yet but should be for the summer. And, as the previous reviewers have said, the toilet block. Oh. My. Goodness. Me. Jawdroppingly marvelous! Kids loved the play area, we loved the peace and quiet, great location for Stirling, the shopping outlet at Sterling Mills, Alloa has a really good range of shops. Loved this site and will be back

Arrived early afternoon on a Friday for a one night stay. The lady on reception was very friendly & helpful. We were able to choose our pitch. Pitches are large & well spaced with lovely views of the Ochil Hills.
We caught the bus into Stirling (a 20 minute journey)where we spent the afternoon.
Back at the site in the evening, struggled for ages to get a tv signal only to be reminded by a fellow camper that there are ariels at each pitch. (Which it clearly says in the site booklet!) Brilliant reception after that.
Went to the restaurant for a drink. You would need to book if you wanted a meal as it seems very popular not just with campsite users but also local diners.
Bar staff very friendly & although we were the last ones left, we were not made to feel in any hurry.
There are two toilet blocks. They are magnificent! The best toilet blocks we have ever seen. Sparkling clean, fresh smellilng, warm & lots of hot water. Not to mention mood lighting, radio & a TV in the laundry area.
Will definitely stay again. Highly recommended.

We are just back from the woods campsite and were very impressed with the brand new toilet block, it is superb all round. The site has very large pitches and most of them are flat. There was a weak tv signal but we did get to watch Britians got Talent. There are ariel sockets for an ext wire but we didn't have an ext wire with us. The staff were friendly and welcoming. So this site would be a recommended site from us if your in the area.

Just returned from a weekend at the Woods enjoyed it so much we are taking the grandkids back this weekend. We have been to this site a few time over the years, it's been around 1 1/2 yrs since we were there last (due to work) there's around ten wooden lodges on site now & more being built down the bottom end of the site.
The staff are very helpful & pleasant with a nice warm welcome, the toilets 'B' block are spotless 'A' block is being fully refurbished. The pitches are large & level with 16 Amp power the TV reception is poor depending where you pitch but the owners have supplied most if not all pitches with an aerial socket to plug in your extension. Don't know if you can buy or hire a cable from the office, I always keep a good long aerial extension cable in my van for emergencies anyway.
I would recommend this site to anybody & it's open all year as well.

The views are spectacular from this site. We stayed here when it was covered in snow so it's a bit difficult to comment on most of the facilities. However, we were unable to use the motorhome grey water waste simply because we would have had to reverse into the bung wall to gain access to the waste drain (which the Warden agreed). The facilities were relatively clean (see comment below re workers) but though the communal entrance was toastie warm, when you went into the main shower area, it was quite cool and, didn't entice either me or my partner to shower.
Also it appeared that there were quite a few work people who used the site as a base.
However, the main shower block was undergoing a major reburb, so should be great for the summer.
My main gripe, as always, is with the electric supply. If sites are open all year, then they should supply a minimum of 13 amp - this site had a notice in the shower block stating that electric supply is max 10amp and could be as low as 6amp! Ridiculous when the temperatures are usually expected to be minus several degrees in Scotland in winter months!
I was a tad disappointed as this site is a Caravan Club affiliated site that it's allowed to offer less facilities, yet for no lesser fees.
There is a restaurant on site, (I believe was only opened recently), but we didn't experience due to weather conditions, sadly.
I think I saw a For Sale board outside this site, which would explain the 'laisse fare' attitude of the staff!
|
Management response: As stated by this reviewer, the main shower block is currently under major refurbishment and with the grey water waste point being next to this area of work, motorhomes are, on occasion, having to reverse to manoeuvre over the waste point. As for the shower block being quite cool, we keep these facilities warm throughout the year and especially so through the winter. We have had no complaints regarding the temperature from any of our customers throughout this winter, but if this reviewer had of requested an increase in the heating temperature, the park staff would have been more than happy to accommodate such a request.
We have no pitches on The Woods Caravan Park that have an electric supply of 6 amp. The notice in the shower block is an information sheet regarding how many amps standard caravan appliances and heating units use. The reference to this site having “a maximum of 10 amps and could be as low as 6 amp” is incorrect and has been removed from the notice board. The majority of our pitches have a 16 amp supply and those which have a 10 amp supply are scheduled to be upgraded to 16 amp in the Spring.
The “For Sale” notice outside the park relates to a town house that is for sale, which is sited next to the caravan park. The Woods Caravan Park is not for sale. We think this misunderstanding, along with other points raised, could have been resolved if the reviewer had of discussed them with the park wardens at the time. |
