The site is now franchised management. The team on site were very helpful and seem to enjoy the job. We extended our stay a few days, and tho fully booked, they were able to juggle us in for some extra time. Nice site and excellent toilets, good base to travel around that lovely area. We'll be back, Thanks.

We have just spent a weekend at this site and it was lovely. Really friendly site managers and immaculate toilet/shower block. The showers were really spacey which was a rare treat!
We took our very energetic spaniel, and although the dog walk on site was sufficient, for our dog it was a little short.
Delicious burgers are sold from reception which come from the farm next door - I highly recommend them!
Overall, we would definitely return but perhaps leave the dog behind next time!

Lovely site with excellent washroom facilities. These look like they have been recently built and each area has it's own separate cubicle (toilet, shower). This gives a nice element of privacy. Each cubicle although being within the usual breeze block structure has been tiled and fitted with wooden accessories which give an upmarket feel.
The addition of a proper shop would be the only area of improvement.
Overall - a very nice site with super friendly staff. We will definitely be staying again.

This is a nice little site, with a great shower block however, we were unfortunate with the weather. We were in a caravan and given a sloping pitch at the bottom of the field. After 8 days of rain the awning area resembled a small area of the Somme. There are hard standing pitches available. The staff were friendly but I was disapppointed by the fact that the laundrey room cannot be used until after 9am, so the staff can do their washing. This also applies to the family/baby/shower room which is only available after 8.30am. At £20+ a night I would have thought the customer comes first.
Would I recommend this site - it depends what kind of holiday you are looking for. If you want a quiet, basic and in general, well laid out site I would say, yes. The shower block is the best I have seen in limited caravanning/camping experience.

April 2005 Well the first camp of the year and since Easter was early. Took a risk on the weather. Although a bit cold we managed to have a great time. So a little about this site. Very clean well manicured lawns and flower beds. Each part of the camp is made up of small portions and hedging gives a nice shelterd feel to each plot. Like the previous comments there are only four sit down toilets in the men and five in the womens. This I should imagine would be a problem when the site is busy. There is a busy road near to this site and its a fair distance to walk to Charmouth the nearest village. There is a small supply area on site where newspapers can be orderd in advance. The staff are friendly and helpfull and I would recommend this site for a clean and tidy and well managed site.

August 2004 This review was composed in August 2004, following a week’s stay on the site. Our party comprised two adults and one 7 year old child in a family tent, plus two grandparents whose caravan was on a premium pitch. There are two adjacent campsites at Monkton Wylde Farm, this one being leased to the Camping and Caravanning Club (non-members welcome).
The site has 80 pitches and much of the site is sloping, although the pitches are generally level. The pitches along the lower ground are hard-standing premium pitches with EHU, arranged in a linear fashion along each side of two ‘roads’. There are further hard-standing EHU pitches which are in a single line of terraces along one side of a sloping road. At the top of the site there are two closely mown grassy fields, enclosed by hedges/willows, where the EHU pitches are arranged around the perimeter in more or less a circle and a further large grassy irregular field, with a few EHU and mostly non-EHU pitches. The nearby busy A35 can be heard, and this is more obvious at the top end of the site.
However, apart from the road, the site had a very quiet atmosphere and the only other noise we heard after dark was the hooting of owls! All pitches are huge, although paradoxically the site’s maximum permitted unit width is 5.5m and the 6m rule between units is rigidly adhered to. Windbreaks can fall foul of this rule and are also not permitted on the grass in between the hardstanding pitches.
The site is beautifully maintained and the central shower/toilet/laundry block is exceptional. Solidly built, the beautifully clean toilet/shower cubicles offer complete privacy and the showers have both flow and temperature controls. When we visited, the site was full and it has to be said that the 4 shower cubicles for men/ladies respectively were not really sufficient. Between 11am and 1pm the shower/toilet block is closed for cleaning, leaving just one toilet cubicle (normally set aside for parent & child use) for the whole site – again this was a bit of a nuisance when the site was at full capacity.
The site has a small office which also doubles as a shop – however the opening hours are limited and the provisions are very basic (milk, eggs, sweets, soft drinks, washing detergent, tent pegs etc). Overall the site is very tranquil and the site staff are attentive and friendly. The grass and planting is well manicured, the bins are emptied frequently and kept spotless. The well-designed washing-up facility is pleasantly sheltered from the elements whilst affording a panoramic view of the site and an opportunity to chat to fellow campers!
A small rustic play area is provided for young children, plus a football area. During our stay, we did experience swirling mist and fog which shrouded the site on several occasions, which we believe is a feature of this part of the country, even though it was an otherwise hot and sunny week!
An excellent site for those seeking the simple pleasures of a quiet and relaxing stay on a site which offers standards that must be difficult to beat!
