Very basic, but good site. Was perfect for first time camping as a single person with 2 kids - although could have done with a play area/park. Facilities all clean & plenty of hot water in shower. Owners friendly and reasonable charge for pitch. Would definitely return.

Should be nice site given the location, about 2 miles to the beach down a forestry commission road (£2 toll but that includes parking), if your prepared to walk a bit down the beach you can get away from the masses and get some piece an quiet - which you may need!
The owners are nice people, although he has a very dry sense of humour - so dry it could upset some people!
The facilities are limited (hook up, 2 gents 2 ladies, 2 showers - the showers being in big rooms so excellent for small kids - but all very dated and in need of modernisation, that said they are clean and they work - showers are 20p)
The hookups are set out down 2 edges of the fields and the tents etc just get piled in the middle - bit close for my liking!
The real problem with this site - in our experience is that although there are clear rules about dogs being on leads and being walked off site this is ignored and the owners do NOTHING about it (even when the evidence is presented to them in a nappy bag! - three times!). We had to ban our children from leaving the awning and its not pleasant to 'find' the pile rights outside your gas locker when you go to change the bottle!
Also the dogs in question were of the 'bull terrior' variety in one case - I am sure it was nice dog but if it isnt it could/would od a lot of damage. I think its a bit much to have one wandering round a field with kids in it!
Nice location but won't be returning due to the profusion of dog mess and the owners inability/unwillingness to deal with the issue.

As a one parent family this was a very friendly site. Ideally situated for the beach and very cheap. The owner was always around to help and his wife was extremely helpful. The site was very basic but everything worked and I would certainly recommend the small field for peace and quiet.

September 2004 Fairly basic site, but very clean. 1 loo & shower block by owners' house. 2 toilets in each. Showers 20p and washing up room (hot water 10p). Walking distance to local shop, chippie and pub.
Road past site ends in Forestry Commission (Newborough Forest) - £2 toll for cars (bikes free). Drive down to the beach for loads of sand, kite surfing or walk along the peninsula/island to see Pilot's Bay and the lighthouse.
Owner is prepared to quiten people down if they are playing music too loud etc. They may sound a bit grumpy on the phone but they are very friendly really!
Shelter for tents from the wind from hedge around the edge. Bit of a slope on the field, but well drained. Charge for extra car/boat etc on your pitch, even when not busy. Cost us £10 per night for a 4 berth tent. Bit steep?
