Just back from a two night stay here. We were pitched in front of the river and where shaded by trees. The site is nice and peaceful, two sets of toilet blocks, we were closer to the old block but I did use the new block for a shower as it was so much nicer. I also didn't notice the windows in the ceiling, not sure if they have changed them as they are now frosted glass. There is a laundry, space to hang out washing, games room with arcade games, pool and ping pong, a good kids playground in the middle of the site, dog walking area and lots of lovely new caravans to ogle at! Again as said before the shop is mainly for caravanning but there is a garage at the entrance which you can get all you need from. The site is about a 15 minute walk from Peebles, which has a good selection of pubs and places to eat, you can also do a lot of lovely walks starting from here (there is a tourist information shop on the high street to help guide you) It is about a 10-15min drive from Glentress Country Park which is part of the Tweed Valley Parks, this place has loads of walks for loads of different levels and also claims that it is one of the best places for mountain bikers again with tracks for all abilities. We walked around and it was a beautiful place to see.

Spent two nights (£16 per night) here and would visit again. As previous reviews have said, the new spotless toilet facilities are an example of what other campsites should be aiming for. Fiddly combination door lock seems a bit pointless though, but I guess this keeps the riff-raff out. The site entrance also has a card-operated gate (£10 deposit for card)
Some pitches have built-in waste and mains water supply so motorhomes and some vans will be happy but it's an extra £2 a night for that. Grass pitches are mowed regularly, even if the rabbits do a good job of keeping things tidy.
We were quite happy parked on the site down by the meandering river amongst fairly mature trees and still managed to get a suntan in between rain showers. The site has a shop with a large selection of camping spares (water pumps, lights and other van stuff) although some items a bit pricy. No papers available but the petrol station next door has this covered. All staff very friendly.
A 15-minute walk into Peebles will allow you to root out the food and ales in the various pubs and restaurants. Make sure you check out the Bridge Inn next to the Church and the Tweed River (Borders pub of the year 2005), this traditional real ale pub announces 'no weans, no grub, no U18's' and has a great 'smokouterie' out the back overlooking the river, a nice sun-trap. A short walk along the Tweed takes you to a massive kid-friendly play park which seemed to be heaving with locals.
This site also sells caravans (new and used) which seemed to be a popular thing with visitors, two pitches near us were both changing their caravans for newer models bought on site. There are a few other sites we've visited that could learn a thing or two from the Crossburn, recommended.

Stayed here for a while in 2006, lovely site and friendly staff, new toilet block is spacious with shower, basin and dry area for each cubicle.
Kids play area is well sited and even pitched on the side of it was never too noisy.
Something we liked was seeing people obviously arriving to take delivery of their new 'vans with the 'vans being pitched for them to take their time looking round and changing their stuff over then maybe staying for the weekend. This alone probably speaks volumes for the owners attitude to customer service.
Surrounding area has plenty to see and do also.

Just back from a one night stay with 2 kids (7 and 4) and the dog. Had a lovely time, great weather, lots of rabbits and ducks wandering about. Good value for money as you could check in at 9.00am and didn't have to leave till 5.00pm following day. You did have to leave a £10 deposit though not sure what for but might be the barrier key. We only used the new toilet/shower block but found it very clean and well maintained, there was a cold tap on one sink and I didn't personally notice the windows acting a mirrors as mentioned on other reviews. The kids could reach to wash their hands when I filled the sink for them. Nice, safe play park. Good dog walking area with poo bin too. There was a couple of donkey as well which was nice. The little burn was right infront of our pitch which was lovely however I was a bit worried by the "risk of flooding" on the leaflet, not sure how often this happens, it didn't to us. Good "in between" site, wouldn't say quiet but definitely not noisy. Will definitely return later in the summer, lovely at Glentress forest only 2 miles away and there is a Sainsburry within walking distance. Campsite shop was more for camping gear.

Spent two nights here and site was very clean and well maintained. Showers and toilets could not be faulted. Nice to go for wash in morning and be able to use the wash basins within the shower changing / cubicle area. We used the newer block as was closer to our pitch. Bins emptied daily by owner. Play area for young kids but no football field etc for older ones. Had to chase them from the tents when they came in kicking a leather football around the tents and cars. Site shop well stocked for camping/caravanning needs but no milk / butter etc. So just a two minute walk out the entrance and to the nearby petrol station. Can walk to country park or Peebles main street easily from here and there is also a nice walk along the water from the campsite that takes you out at Somerfield. Plenty of bars/pubs and hotels/restaurants in Peebles. Adequate dog walk area and our dog just loved the donkeys they have, they are very friendly! WE would def go back for a weekend break, maybe when the nights are a bit warmer though! (Owners also running a caravan sales business on site too)

Only a short stopover of 1 night but we found the site clean and welcoming. Our pitch was a good size and the toilet / shower facilities were modern and well maintained. Nice playground area for the kids as well. We will definitely return to this site in the future!

This is a beautiful campsite, we enjoyed every minute. The site had good facilities which includes two toilet blocks and laundry facilities and a good sized playground for the children. They had two donkeys my two children enjoyed although they were a little noisy in the mornings. There is a supermarket five minutes away and a garage next door to the site that sell basics, the shop at the campsite is mainly a camping shop. Edinburgh is only about 45 minutes away from this site and there is a lovely farm in Dunbar which is an hour away but well worth a visit.

Great Site! Just back and had a great weekend, Site really lovely travelled with our two kids(7&2yr old) who had so much fun didn't want to come home had to book 1 extra night! Although site very busy fri /sat night it was quietier on sunday . Kids loved seeing the rabbits on the way to toilets .Had a great time in the burn although park a little hard for 2yr old but it didn't stop her. Pitches a little close together but on the sunday night it was just right. New toilets were lovely although no cold water to brush teeth and no hair dryer or sockets for this purpose.toilets very clean and great to have a mop to use if needed. Have to admit only used these a few times as glass windows on roof put me right off them. I mainly used the older toilet block which was old but very clean (not as busy either) Site perfect location and great for a walk into peebles.

The location is beautiful - very picturesque. The site is quite small which I think would be fine if it wasn't busy. We had a busy weekend and there wasn't a lot of room left around your pitch for the kids to play. Also due to the lack of room everyone tended to erect windshields to fence themselves off from their close neighbours. I like it when it's all open and there is a real sense of community - I didn't get that here. The play park was nice but definitely for older children . The toilets were very clean - taps were automatic which mean't you couldn't alter the temperature. The water was too hot to wash little ones hands, simly the showers were too hot for the children - I could barely stand under it. If you visit the toilet in the night from the tent pitch you seemingly have to walk a little further past the ladies toilet to activate the lights. We only found this out on the second night which mean't on the first night I couldn't get into the toilet as it is keypad operated and I couldn't see the number pad - so I had to walk back to the tent to get a torch. The kids loved the donkeys - however my husband thought they had more room in their field than we did! Oh and I agree with previous post - the velux windows in the toilets are like mirrors in the dark which means if you glance up whilst on the loo you can see all other cubiles - that put me well off. I am sure that must be against some privacy rule? However, Peebles is a lovely town and it was well worth the trip to see it but I don't think we will be back at this site until the kids are older and maybe not at peak season.

Just a lovely, lovely site. Very family friendly, very safe and well maintained, and pretty. We arrived en-masse late Saturday afternoon and were offered a choice of pitches. The sun was shining which is always a bonus, but made us very relaxed in pitching our tent. As a result, the kids were of playing, baby was playing and we took a while to set up. The children were never out of site and loved the donkeys, rabbits and little burn nearby. The playpark was a big plus and we could watch our 3yr old easily. There is a games room, but I never saw anyone use it. The older kids just played football along side younger ones on the large green beside the playpark.
Peebles was nice and provided us with much to do, see and eat. (would recommend the silver spoon tea room) Shower and toilet block was immaculate with ample piping hot water day and night. Unusual! The block is accessed using a code which is good, small kids could't reach the washbasins though. A mop and bucket is provided for mopping excess water before and after showering. There is a baby room with full sized bath! Excellent! Almost dont want to go on too much as site may become too popular and become too busy.
One thing - beware reflective glass in toilets! Just loved it, would go back and would recommend.
