We selected this part of the country based on the weather reports for the weekend & chose this campsite following reading the reviews on this website.
On arrival we found the staff pleasant and easy-going and were instructed to pitch our tent anywhere in the grassed area.
Following all the rainfall we have had this month the grass was immaculate (amazing drainage). The site itself has a central grassed area that had tents & caravans. The outer circle contained both static caravans & tourers.
The site itself was perfect in size (not too big) for our 3 young children who constantly made use of the small playground to the rear and came and went as they pleased due to the site being small & fully enclosed plus having a safe happy feeling to the place.
The toilet blocks/showers/washing facilities/laundry is at the top of the site and is kept pristine.
There is no on site shop however you can pre order newspapers & bread rolls, also the shop is approximately 10 minuets walk away.
Alternatively there is a pub next to the site that is very friendly, clean, comfortable that sells good food and beer at a very reasonable price.
I would recommend this site to anyone.

Great little site toilet blocks etc were unbelievably clean and respectable. Very helpful staff and the other campers were great as well. Nice little pub at the end of the road where food was great.
Will certainly be going back now that weve upgraded to a caravan we will try it out there first as its only 30 miles or so from us and would be ideal for our first outing.
They took us in with the tent at short notice and the owners and campers were all very friendly.

We have been at this site quite a few times and mark this site as one of the best around.
The site & facilities are always clean and tidy, the owners are very friendly. There is a pub (Blackbird inn) just minutes from the site and a regular bus service takes you either into Dundee or Blairgowrie.
If you fancy a stroll 10 minutes takes you inro Alyth, were there are plenty of shopping for all your needs.
Papers & rolls can be orderde each morning from the reception, which is an added bonus.
The site fees are very reasonable, and at this time of year its £16.

We stayed at Five Roads site for a 2 night weekend break with our 2 children; we were joined by the in-laws in their tourer, with their 2 kids also. This is a fairly small site with a combination of statics and touring pitches, a couple of seasonal tourer pitches and a centrally grassy area with some EHU's mainly for tents.
This site was a total find, a delight, and even although it was really close to where we actually live, we will definitely be returning there again.
The tourer pitches are around the perimeter of the site to the right as you go in, there appears to be around 18 touring pitches all hard standing with EHU.
There are a number of water taps, bins (good recycling facilities) and waste water disposal either in the centre of the grassy area or at the main toilet/shower block.
Toilets and showers are spotless. There are male and female blocks, each with 2 shower cubicles (1 very spacious and 1 less so)but I never saw a single other person in the toilet block or shower the whole time we were there - I think during the peak season when the site is a lot busier though this could be different.
There is a small children's play park at the top end of the park, this is enclosed and completely safe for the kids, there are swings, some climbing equipment, a football goal, etc. The kids in our party (5, 7, 9, 11) loved the park, and there was ample space for them to ride their bikes around the road on the site, with little or no traffic.
The owners of the site were exceptionally friendly and helpful, fresh rolls, milk, papers, eggs, etc were offered to be available for the following morning, we ordered eggs for both mornings and rolls, they were waiting for us from about 8am and were delicious.
We ate from the fish and shop, and the chinese takeaway in Alyth itself, both were delicious, the fish in particular was yummy, one of the best fish suppers we have had. There is a little inn next to the site but the food and the inn itself were a bit uninspiring and we gave it a miss.
Alyth was a revelation. We spent a brilliant Saturday afternoon there exploring the village, there is a great playpark next to the river bank in the village, and Alyth Museum was amazing, a tiny wee bit of local history that was completely fascinating - what a great discovery, well worth a visit if you are in the area.
There was also some brilliant information about the Cateran Trail. We also had brilliant home made tea and cakes at the Singing Kettle, admired all the fantastic cakes that the owner baked (wedding cakes her speciality) and bought some home grown organic tomatoes (yes, tomatoes from a tea room - just great!)
There was some noise from the main road during the night, but we were more than glad to listen to the owls and woodpeckers from the nearby woods, even though they were loud.
We really recommend this site, I suspect that booking in high season would be essential.
Great site, great location and great weekend.

A lovely small quiet site just outside Alyth and a reasonable drive from Blairgowrie. The toilets were immaculate, and the rest of the site was nicely kept. The site owners were friendly and helpful, even securing our awning when we were out for the day and the winds hit near gale force. There is a nice small playpark and the children could play and cycle quite safely round the site road which has a 5 mile per hour speed limit, hopefully without annoying anyone.
There's no shop on site, but you can order rolls and newspapers from reception. Good range of shops in Blairgowrie, including two supermarkets and nice little local shops and tearooms.
The entrance to the site is well set back from the road, and although there is a bit of noise from the road, it's not bad and the site itself is quiet.
Great value at £18 per night for five of us with an awning and electric hook ups on a holiday weekend. Other sites were quoting £30 + per night.
Ideal for exploring the surrounding area, about half an hour's drive from Perth and 20 minutes from Dundee.

We have just returned from spending a three night break, over the Easter weekend. It was our first visit to this campsite & we were very impressed with it.
It is very small tidy & quiet, even though there is a busy road nearby you don't really here the traffic. The owners were very friendly & helpful, the toilets were always very clean & although there were only two showers, they were very good with plenty of room to put your clothes & a bench & radiator inside the cubicle.
We used the wi fi which was very reasonable at £2 a day. There is a pub at the entrance that serves food but we did'nt use it as we like to cook our own meals.
The town of Alyth is in walking distance & has lots of different shops to look around, also a big common at the entrance where you can walk dogs.
The town of Blairgowrie is about 5 miles away & is worth taking a look also a big Tescos there.
We will definitely pay a visit again.

This site was great. Small but perfectly formed! Lady that owned it lived on site, was very helpful, kept toilet blocks very clean. No shop on site but Alyth close by that has everything you need, it is walk able.
Quite a few static caravans with families that regularly stay on site, but everyone was very helpful and welcoming. Definitely be back, try it!

Great tidy wee site.We used it as base to go to the Highland Games.(worth a visit.Going back next year!).Small and quiet, toilets clean and tidy. There is a pub at the front door for great bar lunches and dinners.(it is in the middle of refurbishment).Lots of small 'farmshop' cafes to visit as well.
Lots of small villages to visit round about.
Good walks through the fields and country lanes and tracks for the dogs. Aylth is about a 15 min walk.( for the car nuts. There is a fantastic garage that restores old classics )in Alyth.

Site is very small, we had hard standing pitch, very small kids play park on site. Toilets & showers are very clean, hairdryer is 20p. Tent area is good as benches are provided. There is a Pub at the entrance of site this is needing refurbished but the drinks are cheap, they do serve food but we never tried it, has a seating area outside if weather nice. Alyth is a 15min walk with a few pubs. There's nothing to do here would be great for stop over but that's it. No shop on site

Hi all this is a great small site good for access to the glens made it base camp for a week. Weather was a bit wet but no flooding grass didn't get to wet. Staff were great toilets clean. Nice pub just out side if you don't feel like cooking. Near by Blairgowrie has all the shops you need and cottage hospital which we had to use they were great. Fishing permits you can get from the fishing shop in Blairgowrie. You have Kirriemuir just up the road well worth a visit Barrie birth place writer of peter pan for the kids 2 great parks the Den and the Hill don't forget to try the ice cream to die for.
A winner all round will be back many times over.
