Five Roads is deceptively small, somehow managing to give you the feel of a much larger site. It has all the traits and qualities of some of the best camp-sites I've been on. It is undeniably peaceful and charming with a characterful and highly maintained layout, displaying colourful and plentiful plantation.
We had mixed weather of hot sunshine and prolonged torrential rain - yet the site drained amazingly well. The soft rolling landscape of farm fields surrounding the site is not what we had expected, but is very pretty nonetheless.
The surrounding attractions and towns are great, I enjoyed Kirriemuir with it's Peter Pan history and lovely little park called The Den. Blairgowrie has some rubbish walks but is scenic and has a great Indian takeaway. Alyth is literally 2mins away on foot and has a very good chippy, a hotel with a bar and pool table, darts and allows dogs.
However, the site is not perfect. The fairly busy A926 is a stone throw away with a 50mph limit and could be concerning when walking into Alyth. The pub at the entrance, though different ownership, is in serious need of refurbishment - but we did appreciate that our dog was welcome. While we were there, the campsite toilets did not flush properly but the facilities were otherwise immaculate and I'm sure this problem will be resolved.
All in all, very good - we'll definitely be going back and I'm already looking forward.

We just spent a most enjoyable night at Five Roads Caravan Park on our way to Glamis Castle for the Vintage and Classic car show. We would highly recommend it.Their was a warm welcome when we arrived and It's in a lovely setting, very clean, with lovely shrubs and plants dotted around. With a pub at it's gates serving lovely food and service with a smile, and only a short walk into Alyth, Lovely. We will be back for longer next time.

TomTom took us straight to here using post code. Easy entrance & lots of space to manoeuvre. Friendly owner, level pitches and quiet, grave yard next door! Showers were the nicest we've had in UK, nice laundry room too. Close by there is an RSPB site with osprey nesting while we were there. Good central position for touring this area. Would go here again.

We stayed at this site as a last minute decision, and we were very pleased with what we found, it was a lovely, quiet site. The only downside we can mention was the near proximity to the main A926.

A fantastic site. Excellent showers with large shower cubicle with radiator & extractor fan - both of which were working. The site is ideal for visiting the local area & within walking distance of Alyth with supermarkets & pubs. We had some extremely wet days & the site drained well.

We liked this site. We stayed for 5 days. There was room on your pitch for the caravan and awning with the car across the front. The owner and the staff all worked really hard at keeping the site immaculate and making you feel welcome. The toilets were spotless (Such a shame that a family in a motor home using the site left them filthy. They never once mopped the floor after themselves)
We liked the pub at the entrance. Yep it was definitely rough and ready but we were given a warm welcome and so was our collie. The village was an easy stroll away just about a mile. Nice shops and again the bar in the hotel was dog friendly.
Just a wee negative. There's no dog walk on site and only one shower so I don't know if that would be a problem when the site was busy.
We will definitely use this site again.

Visited on a very windy January night. A small but very pleasant site a few hundred yards from the village of Alyth, which is reached by a good pavement.
All the facilities were very good: bathrooms were clean and the showers spacious and excellent. The site is pleasantly landscaped with plenty of grassy areas. The fee was very reasonable.
The adjacent Blackbird Inn was in desperate need of a facelift and the welcome was lukewarm. However, the Alyth Hotel (centre of the village) was very friendly and, although it's more expensive, the Lands of Loyal Hotel (five more minutes walking up the hill) is well worth a visit.
The area is good for cycling and there are plenty of interesting destinations nearby.

We stayed at the end of August for 9 nights. Five roads campsite is a lovely quiet campsite which provides a good base to go touring.
The site owners are nice and friendly and offer a newspaper and sandwich service for the following day.
The park offers a small play park, recycling facilities and very clean toilet and shower facilities. Although there are only two showers in each, we never had to wait.
I would fully recommend this site for a quiet peaceful break away. (there is a road by the entrance of the campsite where a little traffic noise can be heard).
The pub outside the campsite is worth a miss! It is in need of some work, but there are nice places to eat in the local town and village, which has plenty of small shops to get groceries from. There is a large tesco's about 6 miles away.
I can't wait to visit again - very good value for £9 per night!

Just spent two nights at this fantastic site 5th & 6th Sept. The owners couldn't do enough for us and the site was one of the cleanest and well maintained sites we've every visited. Small is indeed beautiful!
As a dog owner the site is a bit limited but the owners directed me to the Alyth Den. This is a forest walk with the river Ericht running through it not far from the site, absolutely lovely and an easy walk.
The pub near the entrance is fairly basic as is the food but it was nice as a snack. We ate out in the Alyth hotel second night and I must say the food and service was outstanding.
Overall I would strongly recommend this site to all, we certainly can't wait to go back.

Spent a weekend here in July 08 with 2 adults and 4 children under the age of 5! Small and very pleasant site. Hard standing pitches around the outside of the oval site and soft standing in the middle. Ample electric hook up.
Shower facilities are limited as you would expect with a small site (2 showers in the ladies loo and would presume the same was in the guys), but they were very clean with loads of free hot water and we never had to queue despite the fact we had 4 very dirty children to clean each night!
The playpark is situated at the bottom of the site which is away from the road and fenced off. It contains a small climbing frame and a set off swings as well as a large grass area for running around and playing.
Owners very friendly and accommodating and good to see that this site allows you to recycle your glass, cans and paper.
Alyth is a short walk away and the fruit picking (about 5 min drive) was great. There is a pub just outside the site which is very dated in decor but other than that seems to be fine. It does serve food but we didn't eat there. Children are welcome though.
