Very peaceful site but on such a slope the children were rolling down the hill. We had a hook up and they seemed to have the worst slope with the flatest site being used by 2 tents not using the electric. There is no shop on site at all as the owners say they couldn't be bothered as it was too tying! 4 miles is a long way to go for milk, newspapers etc. And it would have been helpful if the owners could have pointed out the nearest shop. Toilet block/facilities are adequate but very basic and kept reasonably clean. Although not far from the tent field I think the facilities are used more by campers than caravaners and if you're in a tent you're treated as a a bit inferior. Needless to say we won't be back as £5 per person is rather expensive to sleep in a not so flat farmers field.

Very quiet campsite, easy to find and with good facilities. Set in lovely farmland. We spent two nights at the site and there were only 6 - 12 tents there in total. Most campers appeared to be walking groups, so noise was kept to a minimum.
Tents are located in a separate field to caravans/motorhomes and also seperate from the wash room facilities, but its only a 50m flat walk, so its no issue - and it does help to keep the noise down.
The toilet/shower rooms were cleaned very regularly, and there is a good kitchen area complete with kettle and washing up liquid in case you forget your own.
Our only grumble was that the temperature of the shower was not adjustable, which was fine for adults, but it was too hot our 5 year old to stand under.
The tents were in the corner of a large oil seed rape field, which may be an issue for hay fever sufferers, but this should be harvested in the near future

Visited during our Hadrian's Wall expedition. Previous reviewers have said it all really - nice big field for tents, really friendly owners, great value for money (£4pppn). Thought toilets/showers were perfectly adequate. There is also a separate room for washing up which also houses the washing machine and a kettle (fab!). A basic site, but very friendly and relaxing. Would go back if I was in the area. (Did not explore surrounding area as had walked 20 miles through Newcastle and across footpaths to get there!)

We stayed at this site for one night in the pouring rain. There was loads of room for the kids to run wild and plenty of room inbetween tents. It is cheap at only £4 a night per adult and free for under fives. There was a shop but it was only open briefly on the Sunday and until then we did not see any staff at all. There were a noisy group of people who were partying until at least half 12 and noone around to monitor the noise levels. The toilet block was a little walk from the tent field. It was not as clean as I hoped but not too bad by camping standards! There was a washing up room with a kettle in which was very handy for filling my hot water bottle! Corbridge is lovely and Hexham is nearby too. There is a big tesco and waitrose at Hexham incase you go and have forgotten anything major. The tesco even has a camping section. I would go back to this site again. I liked the views and found it to be a chilled out site.

Lovely and peaceful site, owners were very helpful even provided a jump start when we left the fridge plugged into car over night. Showers were clean and tidy and water was very hot BEWARE.No play park for children but lots of wide open space to play. Owners dogs were also very friendly my Westie enjoyed the company. Corbridge is a lovely little village not far in car would not advise to walk roads are a little narrow.Hexham is also worth a trip.

My husband and I visited Wellhouse Farm site with our two children, aged 3 and 6yrs. The camp site is situated on a working farm which added that extra interest for the children. The rural landscape and the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere really gave us that 'getting away from it all' experience that was great. The family who ran the farm were always very friendly and willing to offer advice of where to go and what to see. The shop was open for limited periods but the man on the tractor would get his wife to open it up if we needed anything which was great! The toilet and shower block was new and kept spotlessly clean - I know that we kept bumping into the cleaning lady so she must like to mop the floors! There was never a shortage of hot water which was essential having two young children who never tired of getting dirty. The farm is only a short drive from many historic sites such as Hadrian's wall, Corbridge and Hexham. We also visited Gateshead Metrocentre which was fantastic for shopping! All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back soon!

Just stayed friday night with two tents and four kids, only six tents in the field and not many more on the saturday , so there was plenty of room both for the tent and the kids to play . No noise problems at all , facilities were clean , plenty of warm water and free washing up liquid ! friendly pub 2 minutes drive down the road with good food at reasonable prices . Went into Corbridge a couple of times , nice sandwich bar in the square and plenty of cafes and pubs , roman fort worth a visit . Overall a good site , WILL visit again .

Stayed here over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend. This is a basic site, with clean and functional facilities. The showers are basic, but clean, as are the washing facilities. The site no longer has a shop, but a walk down to the farmhouse to enquire as to the location of the nearest shop and the owners were happy to supply us from their own larder - can't ask for better service. Oh - and on the Saturday night the owner came round on her golf cart handing out free doughnuts to the children - what we thought was a nice touch. There are 2 fields - one for caravans, motorhomes and tents requiring hook up - another for tent pitches. The caravan pitches are all designated where as the tent field is pitch where you want. Most people were sensible and kept a reasonable distance between each other. Pitching on the outer edge of the field can be a bit risky in the wind though - we'd noticed the wind direction and pitched where there was shelter from trees, but we did end up helping out a family whose tent literally blew down. The site is quite isolated in it's location and a fair amount of travelling is involved to get anywhere. There's a nice pub just up the road (Robin Hood) and the site is ideally located for exploring Hadrian's Wall. We'll probably be going back - so that's the best recommendation I can give it, cos we can be quite picky about the cleanliness of facilities!

This is a very basic site, comprising 2 fields, one for tents, the other for caravans. Having said that the facilities are very good. The shower block only has 2 toilets and 2 showers, but it also has a disabled toilet and shower. These were very clean and there was hot water all day, so no scramble to the shower at 8am. There is also a laundry room. The only downside I would say was that the rule for dogs being kept on a lead was not enforced, and at least 4 dogs were running about freely throughout our stay. The ground was reasonable flat, so easy to pitch. This site was very nice, and tucked away down a little lane. We stayed on a bank holiday weekend, arriving around 2pm and there were still loads of decent pitches to choose from. On Saturday night, Mrs Richardson came round with a tray of donuts for the children, needless to say we all became children at that point! - A very nice touch we thought. All in all a lovely site and we will definitely return.

What a haven of peace and tranquillity ! It was a fabulous secluded site that caters for tourers, tents and motor homes and offers electrical hook ups too. Shower block was basic, but clean and free showers. Those of you needing a hairdryer will need to take your own. Dish washing and clothes washing facilities were again basic, but more than adequate. The new block did have a room for an on site shop, but it was empty during our stay. Superb location for exploring the North Tyne Valley and Hadrian's Wall.
