We have just come back from camping at this site for one night. We were looking for a site last minute and close to Whitby, we found the site quite and only 4 mile taxi ride into Whitby which was about £8 down n the same back up
We found the site was well maintained, flat ground and the owner very helpful. She did explain there was only two toilets, no showers, n only cold water which we were fine with as we only stopped for one night. There was lots space to put tent up, park the car, etc and we would return. But if you went with children you would have to take games and things to entertain them. But for the price we paid we were well impressed

This site is situated about 3 miles out of Whitby, high up on the hills and has stunning views of Whitby and the coast.
This is a farm site and centred around a working farm. The farm buildings form a square at the centre of the site with the pitches located around the edges. The farm buildings are fairly dilapidated; there are piles of rubble, stone and slate, there are barns with half the roof missing etc. However the caravan site and the pitches are well maintained and there is a very peaceful feel to the site.
Around half the pitches are hardstanding and around half have uninterrupted views. The site isn't an adult only site but there are very limited facilities and things to do for children.
The hardstandings are of gravel and only wide enough for a caravan, not a car and caravan. There are very limited facilities on this site; there is no shop, there is no restaurant, there are no showers.
There are two toilets, and others have commented on them. They are located in one of the barns. Do not expect toilets from a 5 star hotel. You will be sorely disappointed. They are in a barn; stone floors, roughcast walls, dead daddy-long legs, cobwebs, rusty hinges, old barn doors etc. However the actual toilet bowls are kept clean and if you reset your expectations then you will find they are perfectly adequate. There is one wash basin with cold water only.
Most (if not all) pitches have access to electric hookup and there is a chemical disposal point. There are various fresh water points and at the time of our visit, daffodils were out - they had been thoughtfully placed around the site. I never found a grey waste point and when I asked another caravanner he indicated that it was ok to run it into the hedges.
Given the site is high on a hill, I believe it is a windy site. It was windy every day of our visit and others have commented in these reviews on it too. So you get the views but it is exposed. In fact we arrived in a howling gale and had to pitch with the wind whipping car doors out of our hands etc. Interesting! However once sorted we sat back with a glass of red wine and watched the daylight fade over the coast and Whitby slowly start to twinkle in the dusk. Magical.
TV reception was very poor but this could have been due to the windy weather. There are no dog walks on site, but there are various walks into fields just across the road from the site entrance and the farmer (not sure if same one) has kindly left a decent margin around his crops with open access too - so you can walk your dog for quite a way off the road (the small road is surprisingly busy). Further up the road there is access to a bridleway that provides further dog walking, plus from the bottom of the site there is access through the fence to the lower field which also has some options for dog walking.
We ate at the Passage To India in Whitby. Really excellent Indian food and very good value. We also ate at the Ming Palace, Chinese in Whitby. Decidedly average. Finally we ate at the Stables pub/restaurant just outside Whitby on the A171. Exceptional food albeit a little on the pricey side. Booking advisable.
Overall we had a really fantastic time on this site - it has a great feel to it and for us provided the perfect balance between the two extremes of; a large commercial site with lots of facilities and an empty field with fresh water. The views are to die for and we will definitely return.

My husband and I spent a lovely 3 days at this idyllic site. The owner was very friendly and helpful, and walked us around the site, showing us the available pitches and benefits of each.
We had a lovely hard standing pitch, lots of space and a great view of Whitby. The grass was well kept, and Willy cut the grass before we erected our awning.
We successfully locked ourselves out of our caravan and Willy came to our rescue, he dismantled the door window, to enable us to undo the lock and he carefully put this back again.
We were so grateful for his practical help. A site I would definitely recommend, 4 miles from Whitby. Very chillaxing.

We have just come back from a fantastic weekend at this site.
The lady who owns the site is very friendly and very helpful.
The site is clean, spacious and has the most stunning views over Whitby. The weather was glorious but the lady who owns the site did advise us that it can be a little exposed up there at times.
There were 3 toilets, all clean and a wash hand basin with cold water. The owner did make sure when I booked that I was aware there were no shower facilities on the site.
There was plenty of room for me to play with my dog (on his long lead of course) and the same area could be used for Children to play ball games on. There was also a tyre swing for the children but no other facilities for them.
This is a quiet little gem of a site that charges very reasonable rates (£16 per night for 3 adults, 1 dog and electric hook up).
We certainly intend returning

After reading several reviews on this site we decided to choose this camp site as we were only staying the 1 night in our 2 man tent. The owner was friendly and welcoming on the phone as well as on arrival. Pitches were well spaced and had ample room in all areas. The views were amazing and its tranquil and peaceful and is good for a quiet break. As there isnt any showers I would recommend only a short stay but there are 2 toilets with fresh towels and a sink with cold water to use. The site did lack lighting at night time and waste bins were needed. But overall a really nice site

Just returned from a fantastic 4 day break at this campsite. Spotted it on the way back from the over-crowded mess that calls itself Middlewood Farm.
Lound House Farm is exactly how we expect a basic campsite to be. Friendly owners, fabulous views and a great location close to Robin Hoods Bay - quaint, delightful 'smugglers cove' and Whitby - picturesque harbour town.
Try The Wayfarer if you visit for the best food in the Bay.
We were spoilt with great weather and will definitely make this site a regular on our campervan travels.

This is a great site if you are looking for the basics, electric hook up gave us all we needed the site has great views over Whitby which is just 4 miles away. The owners were pleasant and gave us three or four options to pitch our outfit.
There are two toilets on site but that is it as far as extras go but plenty of water taps to fill water drums. If you are looking for a quiet site this should tick the box 2 or 3 good pubs nearby selling good food and beers we stopped during Whitby Goth weekend and will be returning here next year.

A splendid weekend at Lound House Farm. We arrived on a damp Friday and were greeted by very friendly owners, who showed us a choice of pitches. Fabulous views were masked by low cloud, but were revealed the following morning and are stunning. Facilities are basic, but good enough for our needs, and exceptionally clean and tidy. Pitches were flat and spacious and very well tended. A good location for exploring both the moors and the coast.
All in all, a very friendly place, well kept and very good value for money. We knew in advance that the facilities were basic, and it is refreshing sometimes to get back to the basics of camping!

Went to this site for the August Bank Holiday. It is only a little site, nice and quiet, very picturesque with good views and well maintained. Lady who owned it was very friendly and helpful and just left you to sort your van out as you wanted.
Basic toilet and wash facilities but we are not bothered about that as we have all we need in the caravan anyway.
We found the campsite easy to get to. Downside was it was not in walking distance of Whitby but we already knew that before we went.
Had a great weekend and will definitely be returning.

Lound House Farm is a little gem that can be found 4 miles outside Whitby. It has 16amp hookups and the pitches are very spaced apart.
The site has 3 very clean toilets and one handwash basin with cold water only and numerous fresh water points around the site. There are no shower facilities so it may not be that suitable for tents. The owners are very friendly and a warm welcome awaits.
The views over Whitby are fantastic and this is a great base to explore North Yorkshire. I must recommend Beacon Farm tea rooms full English cream teas for under 2 pound and fantastic ice creams. My family 2 adults and 2 teenage boys had a nice stay at Lound House Farm and hope to return very soon go on give it a go its fab.
