We stayed here for the first time and our on our very first visit to Cornwall for one week, and LOVED IT!
The site owners are the most amazing, lovely and cool people. They live on site as the surrounding campsite it is their own land that they have opened up to holiday makers. The location of the site is stunning and a stones throw away from both the beach and the town.
It takes around 5 mins to walk to the beach and another couple to hit the town. St Michaels mount is also only a 15 minute stroll along the beach and across the causeway, so close and yet you feel as though your abroad somewhere, it's all just so beautiful - can you tell we had a good time!? and that's only the immediate surroundings of the site in Marazion!
There are so many other things to do within the surrounding areas, St Ives is very close and very lovely and quaint, as well as Lands End (amazing!), Porthcurno beach, Peranuthnoe beach and Cafe, and the Eden Project for those rainy days.
Marazion is Beautiful and the town is very sweet, our jaws hit the floor when we saw it all for the first time and we're delighted with our very unresearched campsite location - it really is a gem!
Over all we really really ejoyed our stay and could only have been improved (slightly) by providing more updated facilities. The shower & toilet block had everything that was needed and had nice big showers, but small toilets and generally needed a revamp/resize.
It would have been nice to have warm running water to wash up with but can be got around by boiling a kettle before taking your pots and pans for a rinse. In no way whatsoever did these things ruin our stay.
The campsite owners we're very friendly and accommodating even offering to charge up our electrical goods for us should we need it and refreezing our ice-packs whenever we needed (which was usually daily).
We we're very happy here, didn't want to leave and shall certainly be returning in the future!
Well worth visiting!

We loved this site! We chose it for its price and proximity to the beach and it exceeded our expectations.
We had read the reviews about the toilets and brought our own toilet and pump up shower. We soon gave up on the shower and used theirs instead as they were clean and spacious and 50p gave us a shower for two! We never had to queue either.
The pitch was superb. We had bushes and small trees around it and the site was quiet at night. (We hate to hear screaming children still playing out at bedtime, so that was great).
The location of the site was perfect. It was a short walk to the beach, a few minutes more to the shops and it was so easy to drive to other places. It was 20 minutes drive to the Geevor tin mine, Land's end, Minack theatre, St Ives etc and the roads were easy to follow. We cycled into Penzance to the Jubilee pool (seawater and cold, but lovely!) in about 30 minutes (slowly).
We then went off to the Isles of Scilly for the week and, for a small charge, the site owner took us and all our gear (a car full to bursting!) to catch the boat and to bring us back again. We left our car at the site for half the price of the car parks in town and we knew it and the bikes would be safe.
The staff on site were always friendly and helpful and the site had a safe and calm atmosphere. It was also a fraction of the price of the site we had originally chosen near St Ives (which would have had more facilities though - which we would not have used). If you prefer a campsite shop, playground, swimming pool, wash blocks, washing up areas, entertainment etc, then it would be best to go elsewhere.
If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing base for a holiday in beautiful surroundings, then this is the place.

Just returned from another visit to Dove Meadows, and the site just gets better and better each year. We started visiting the site some years ago now when our children were younger because there was so much to do in the area for them and the beaches are very safe.
Now the children are grown up and it's just the two of us, but we still go to Marazion, it's well worth the long journey from North wales. The site is only a few minutes walk from the beach and only a short walk into the town.
We arrived on the site and had a very warm welcome from the site owners and the wardens. These are the people who make the site such a lovely place to come back to each year, nothing is any problem to them and they always have time for a friendly chat.
We stayed on the site in the middle of the school holidays when the site is at it's very busiest. Any other site and I would be reluctant to do this because in the past we have been to sites where the facilities are unclean during this period and it can also be very noisy.
This is never the case at Dove Meadows as noise is not permitted after 10. 30pm which I believe is very reasonable. I was very sad to see previous comments on here about noise from bongo drums, we were actually beside these people playing the drums, and I certainly don't remember it being a problem late at night, and if it was the site owners or wardens would have been on to it straight away.
The toilet block is probably one of the cleanest that I have seen, and this is due to the warden who is there at least 3 or 4 times a day cleaning, always soap in the dispensers and always loo rolls.
Once again we were very sad when we got to the end of our 17 days at Dove Meadows, so this year we made sure we booked for next year before we came home, as the site is such great value for money.
Many thanks to the site owners and the wardens who once again helped in a big way to make our summer holiday such an enjoyable one.
Here's to 2013 at Dove meadows !

I've just come back from a lovely break at Dove Meadows. It just gets better each year. I have three children from 15 years to 4 years and they are kept happy at this site.
The surrounding area has all you would want for the family, lovely beaches just a walk away, friendly shops and a wonderful pub down the road that welcomes dogs.
The staff member that cleans the toilets works very hard to keep it to a high standard, only if people would keep it this way.
The showers are big enough for myself and my four year old. We also had time for both of us to wash.
The pitches are the biggest we have ever had and with a bush each side you have your privacy.
All the staff and owners are very helpful and friendly. Great value for money. We have already booked again for next year.

This is our 8th year visiting Dove Meadows. We return each year to this quiet, beautifully positioned touring site because of the friendly atmosphere that the owners & wardens provide. The site itself is well maintained with many shrubs & trees to provide privacy & protection from the wind.
Our son was 7 when we first visited and has enjoyed his stay over the years. There isn't a playground on site but with the beach a five minute walk away & a huge council maintained adventure playground down the road, it has never been an issue for us.
Occasionally our enjoyment has been marred by wayward children allowed to wander without supervision while parents relax & ignore them. The owners/wardens have had to interrupt their celebrations & remind them of their parental duties. This however is hardly the wardens fault & cannot be used against them!
There are 3 toilets & 2 lovely hot showers that are cleaned at least twice a day. If any visitors haven't left them as they had found them then it isn't long before this is rectified as they are monitored regularly. These are busy during the height of the season but you are not required to wait very long for them to become free. If any issues have come up, a quick word to the wardens/owners & this has been sorted quickly.
If you are the type of camper/caravanner who likes a site with many showers & lots of other facilities then this isn't for you, however, if you want a quiet holiday in a clean, friendly no frills site then try Dove Meadows, Marazion.

We have just come back after a lovely, relaxing 14 night stay at Dove Meadows.
This is the third year that we have stayed at this particular site and have already booked up for 2013.
Every year we see an improvement in the site.
The owners and wardens are friendly, very approachable and always available for a chat (even if it means delaying what they were trying to do!).
The site facilities are cleaned and maintained to a high standard (even though other campers seem to leave them in a disgusting state at times!).
It is in a excellent location and not too far from most facilities (i did hardly any driving during our holiday which suited me!).
For dog owners (like us) there is a short walk to a nature reserve and a dog friendly beach at Longrock (about 1 mile away). Also dogs can go on the beach at Marazion after 7pm.
All in all a superb site and we can't wait to go back next summer.

Dove Meadow was a wonderful place to stay. The site owners could not have been more friendly and helpful when we arrived.
We had a problem when our fridge broke and being new to camping, the site wardens were great. They switched ice blocks with us daily to ensure our food did not go off and even tried to fix the fridge!
I could not rate this site highly enough. It's clean well maintained and very pretty indeed, it has everything you need.
If your looking for camping close to the beach in a beautiful Cornish village then this is the place for you.
We can't wait to go back again sometime.

We have just returned home after a lovely two week break at this pretty, well located site. The wardens were extremely helpful and always had a smile, the same I can say applies to the owners. Nothing was too much trouble.
I was saddened to read on recent reviews that some people found the facilities lacking and unclean, I however, cannot agree.
I must add that if these people felt this way why did they not take a few minutes to address the issues with either the owners or wardens, who I am sure, would have rectified any problem immediately to ensure they enjoyed their stay.
We mentioned to the owners that one of the toilets had run out of toilet roll, no more than a few minutes later, toilet roll was placed in the toilets and the toilets re freshened at the same time. Please visitors, take note, don't moan later like cowards, speak to the owners and give them a chance to solve the problem!
All in all, yet another enjoyable break, and many more to follow, thank you Dove Meadows.

We stayed at Dove Meadows for a week in our caravan. We found the site easily from the directions given-there is a very sharp bend to access the road but once in the site manoeuvrability is easy.
The site is approx. 10 minutes walk to the beach, St. Michaels Mount and Marazion village, which comprises of lovely shops, pubs and places to wander.
The site itself has good points and not so good points:
Positives:
*Excellent location
*Friendly owners/staff
*Pitches are well spaced
*Well maintained
*Child friendly
*Away from the road
Negatives:
*Only 2 showers and cost 50p (this was not advertised on website), always a queue!
*Only 3 unisex toilets for whole site (always a queue!)
*No separate sinks for washing, only tiny basins in toilet cubicle.
*Shower/toilet facilities started off clean in the morning but by lunchtime were filthy.
*No hot water in the pot wash.
Things to be aware of:
*Lots of children on site-this equated to lots of noise, especially in the evenings. We were unlucky enough to be the other side of the hedge to a large group which played music (and bongos!) constantly well into the evening.
*The chemical waste was adjacent to pitches.
*If you get a pitch the wrong side of the hedge you will have no sun after 4pm. The site was East/West facing.
Overall, a pretty site in an excellent location but in view of the poor facilities (which we never used and made do with our caravan facilities, ) £20 p/n was too much. We will definitely visit this area again but will shop around for a site that is better value for money.

This site is great. The owners are lovely & so helpful along with the wardens who help on site. The shower facilities are limited if you're looking for a five star luxury block, but if you want adequate shower/wc facilities on a fantastic, well kept site in an outstanding area with friendly owners, this is the place to come. After all, isn't camping mainly about the surroundings, which being about a ten minute walk from the St Michaels mount causeway is a top place to be. We enjoyed ourselves so much for two weeks last year, we've booked for three weeks next year. Can't wait!
