This is a beautiful location with the site bordered by the Beauly Firth to the North and trees on the other three sides. It is on an old POW camp as evidenced by some of the remaining buildings and has been terraced to make level pitches. We found the site very friendly and there is an area the size of several pitches set aside for children to play and which was equipped with a rope swing, volleyball net and space for balls games; there was also a set of swings a little distance from this area. A snack bar serving breakfast, dinner and hot and cold drinks opened in the morning and early evening and was well used.

The current site owner took over last year and is actively working on improving the site further, he and the remainder staff were very approachable, friendly and keen to help.

The number of showers and washing facilities was good but the water tended to fade away if several people are using the facilities, this was due to be rectified in the next few days with the fitting of a new pump. Toilet paper, hand washing soap and electric dryers are supplied.

Inverness is a few miles down the road and is well served with supermarkets and the surrounding area is awash with places to visit or walk or cycle to. A feature of the area are the dolphins that frequent the area near the Kessock bridge so take your binoculars. Red squirrels are to be found in the local area, I didn't see any in the site woods but did in the countryside to the south west. If you are into arboreal things then a look at the effect of coppicing the trees (presumably during the war) in the woods on the south side of the site and then leaving them to grow might be of interest.

Overall I would have no hesitation in recommending this site and the surrounding area.

We were on our way back from Stornoway and decided to go the 'scenic' route and scout around the campsites in the area. We drove into this campsite and adored it immediately!

We pitched out tent right on the shores of Beauly Forth and spent a magnificent afternoon and evening watching the sun set and enjoying a lovely barbecue.

The campsite was level, the ground not too hard. The toilets were in good working order, however the showers were a bit dirty and could do with a 'freshen up'. The onsite shop was okay, but not stocked with too much 'real food' like meat and veg so a quick foodie trip was in order. Other than that, the campsite was a real joy and I would definitely recommend it.

According to our neighbours the fishing is good and allegedly, if you get up REALLY early, (about 4am ish) you can see the dolphins - though we never made it up that early.

Don't know what playground facilities there are for the kids, but the ones we saw seemed happy enough riding around the site on their bikes.

All in all, it's a great site and I will definitely be going again.

Decent enough camp site with very pretty views over the Moray Firth. Badly let down by the outdated and scruffy toilet/shower block. A new modern facility would make such a difference to this site. Not an expensive site, but for the price we paid I was very dissapointed.

A beautiful campsite overlooking the Beauly Firth with great views. This is a great site which is really well maintained but the toilets and showers really let this place down. There are only 3 showers in the female block and about 8 toilets which is no way near enough for the size of site. An extension to the kids playpark would also benefit the site as there is only some swings. There is however a dedicated area for ball games which was great.
Overall, a great site for an overnight stay and if your not too fussy about where you shower!

We have camped for many years in Scotland but this year decided to try a static, we had mixed results at Bunchrew. The site is on a lovely location on the sea shore with stunning views, close to Inverness and there is plenty to do in the area. Our caravan was one of the newer ones on site, but was let down by the finishing touches.
A mix up of crockery and wobbly steps may seem unimportant but along with off white bed sheets and a carpet in the toilet the caravan lost some of its appeal. We ended up using our own sheets which we had brought with us.
The toilets/showers on site were a bit run down looking but I cannot really comment on them as I did not use them.
The one thing that did annoy us was the amount on touring and static caravans with people living in them, and I mean living in them ( touring caravans in the driveways of static caravans), the caravan behind our static would not have looked out of place if used as a tea hut on a building site. To be fair, the people in them did not interfere with out holiday, but for us the site looked more like a place for people to live in rather than have a holiday in.
The good location means I would consider returning for a short stay with our tent, but not to a static.

We have been to this site for 4 years running now, the kids like it. Tony the owner is always very helpful, does his rounds about 1030/1100 pm to make sure everything is quiet. Lovely scenery and not far from INVERNESS or for touring the highlands.
The site has a few downfalls the shower and toilet block could do with modernising plus it could do with a second for the amount it holds. The site gets very full in august due to the Black Isle Show. There is a play area for ball games and other activities but when busy I have known him to park vans & tents in this area. All in though it is not a bad site ideal for a few nights stop over

Spent two months here in Spring 2006. It is a stunning location well situated for accessing Inverness city and facilities, as well more rural parts. Far enough off the road to be fairly quiet.

Tony, the proprietor was very helpful, especially when I had a problem with my unit's electrics, BUT it has to be said that the park is very poorly managed.  There is a small shop in reception, but the Co-op (or Lidl), a mile down the road, is much cheaper.

Units can and do pitch anywhere, and when busy, as at peak times, there is no discipline over pitching, and sometimes little consideration for others. I was stuck to get my car up to the unit a couple of times.

There is also no discretion over who the site accepts - couples, families, singles, but also youth groups.

Whilst I appreciate that this is a historic former wartime military camp site, some of the buildings (the toilet block, laundry and washing up area) are undoubtedly buildings surviving from this era. Unfortunately the fittings don't appear to have been updated since 1945! Several taps were missing in the toilet, one sink was cracked and unusable, the hand dryer unserviceable, and at least two loo doors had no locks.

The toilets did not appear to be cleaned every day, and especially when youth groups were on site, could get into a disreputable state. The Belfast sinks in the washing up area lacked a plug; I went out and bought one for my own use, but few other people seemed to use this 'facility'.

This site could have so much potential if someone prepared to invest in new facilities and to manage it properly - living on site - could acquire it.

Unfortunately, in its present situation, it cannot be recommended.

Very warm and friendly welcome, choice of pitch given, beautiful views over the Firth, enjoyed watching the herons feeding in the mudflats. Gorgeous sunset.  Close to Inverness, a beautiful city. Bus stop from outside the site if required. Plenty of information in the shop / reception. Showers could do with an update and water was luke warm but for a stop over not really a problem. Would visit again for the views.

Campsite had beautiful views of the Firth, however can become over crowded easily. As there was no control over where people pitched their tents. Also the toilet / shower block extremely dated not kept in the best condition. Staff very helpful. Scenery was great and the winery nearby is worth a visit

First entering this site looks a bit like permanent static van city, however on trundling further down the hill one descends upon the touring part which is undulating to level and stretches right down to the waters edge. Staff friendly and the price was right for our smallish tent £10- night.
Location quiet at night but as said before only few minutes for the impressive Inverness. Grass was kept short, with lots of rubbish disposal points. Play area for children well fenced off, making it easy to decide to pitch close to, or well away from this area as one decides.
Only two faults we found, firstly there are no marked out pitches and at our time of staying the site was fairly busy with two groups of children / teenagers also staying on site in tents, thus making space a little tight. One could easily go out for the day and return to find there being no space for your car and guy ropes crossing between tents. This could’ve made it difficult for us to power our lights from the car without a little persuasive negotiation  with our neighbours.  Secondly the toilet facilities are woefully inadequate and very very dated for the number of persons they service. They also seemed to be infrequently cleaned and with the number of teenagers using them, by late afternoon they were disgraceful, so much so my wife refused to wash in them for the last evening & morning.
A shame for such a beautiful site to be let down by its most basic facility. I know this reflects in the price, but one would willingly pay more with a better standard of facility. Inverness itself is a busy and lovely city, with plenty on offer for all walks of life. All the locals were warm and friendly. Would I go back to Inverness?……….you betcha, would I go back to this site?………. Alas no.
