We've just got back after spending a week at this site. It's an excellent base for exploring Bruges. We took the bus into the centre on a couple of occasions even though you can walk it in 20 minutes and cycle in very quickly. We discovered on the last day that parking is free on the ring road that runs round Bruges
It was a very busy time of year, lots of transient campers with small tents crowded very close together. We booked a hook-up pitch (in March) and were given a large plot but I know that some of the larger tents were given quite small spaces and the motor homes were very close together.
However the site was quiet at night. We didn’t have children with us and saw there weren’t any swings etc provided but the children we saw seemed to be very happy– and there are woods nearby. Showers and toilets were clean and there was little queuing. There is no soap and no toilet paper so make sure you bring some.
You can get wifi by buying a ticket from a slot machine (1 euro for an hour) The ground seemed to drain well – (and we had two torrential downpours). There are three supermarkets within a 10-minute walk, a camping shop in the same precinct and those shops and a swimming pool next door to the site.
It is a brilliant area for cyclists. Motorists have to give cyclists priority in Belgium (and they seem to do this-elderly cyclists and very young children seemed to sail under the bonnets of huge lorries with impunity) and the cycle paths are great.
We rode all round the outskirts of Bruges next to the canal on a great cycle path. Nearby (easy drive or cycle) is Damme just down a straight canal path if you want a change from Bruges.

We rented the Gypsy Wagon for 2 nights and it was absolutely awful. The shower curtain was very smelly and was covered in mould. The shower tray surround was also covered in black mould. Two pillows were supplied and did not have any filling in them. There was one blanket which could have done with a good wash. In our opinion it was very expensive and to be confronted with that was a huge disappointment. Kitchen utensils were basic. We would have appreciated a small bar of soap in the toilet and some lieu roll. Not even a liner in the kitchen bin.
The situation of the Wagon is not ideal because it is right next to the exit of the site therefore creating vehicular noise at all times of the day and night. The toilets and laundering facilities are right outside, too. I
had cause to use the camp site toilets and they were absolutely disgusting. No bins in the toilets and the one outside was overflowing with all sorts of unpleasantness. We will definitely not be returning. We did make an official complaint to the Manager who tried to make all sorts of excuses but as I pointed out, it is her responsibility to make sure things are kept clean and they certainly were not.

Stayed here for 4 nights with 2 children aged 4 and 10, and 4 bikes. Extremely well situated for visiting the centre of Brugge which is about a 15min bike ride to the centre on extremely flat, safe bike lanes. We used a trailgator for our 4 yr old and felt very safe.
The site is very flat and well maintained. The loos and showers are very basic but do the trick,(make sure you take your own loo paper as there is none provided in the toilets). Staff very friendly and helpful. We are returning again in Dec for the Christmas market.
Definitely a site to use for visiting Brugge and surrounding area, but not a site if you intend to stay put during the day, as the pitches in high season could feel very close together. Site right next to great swimming pool and small wooden playground, although our kids were fine on site as there were other children

We stayed four nights at Memling and had a great time. The site is easy to find from the motorway. The journey from Calais was about 90 minutes. The site was quiet due to time of year so we could pitch anywhere.
The facilities were basic but ample and typically continental. As stated by others the site is fantastically positioned, the cycle into central Brugge taking about 15 minutes. We also cycled to Damme which was great. All in all a brilliant stay on a welcoming site.

Stayed there for 3 nights in August 2009. Towed from Dunkirk. Borrowed a Sat Nav, which got me there no bother took me a couple of hours. The site is on the outskirts of Brugge, yet is very near to the city walls … the site is small, and the pitches are flat, grassy, small and uniform …. There were no physical borders between pitches … I paid £21 Euro per night in August – I consider this good value for a city location…
The shower/toilet area was clean, but busy, I guess due to my Peak summer visit … the site was quiet at night …. There seemed to be a good mix of European visitors on site, Spaniards, Italians, German, Dutch and of course Brits.
Just outside the site are many Supermarkets – 5 mins walk …. And a good selection of café / bars ….The site is very near to Brugge, and the best option into town is by bike (everyone rides in Brugge). The site DOES hire them. There is also a bus stop just outside the site with frequent buses into town. You could also drive the 1 mile or so to the city wall, and park up, and walk the 25 mins or so into town.
Do you have kids? if so, there is a fantastic swimming pool, with slides just outside the site – admission was approx £10Euro for myself and my 3 kids …

My partner and I stayed at this campsite for three nights on a tour of Belgium and France during summer 2008.
A lovely site with excellent facilities, we were very comfortable for the duration of our stay and although it was quite busy, there were never any problems with having to queue for the showers / toilets and noise levels were kept to a minimum.
The only minor issue was that the tents appeared to be quite crammed together in places, although we managed to find quite a secluded corner pitch. There is a great bus service into Bruge which picks you up and drops you off almost right outside the site entrance.
Would recommend the site to others and would visit again in future.

We spent four days in the Trekkershut at Camping Memling and found it warm, comfortable and well furnished. The site is smallish and well equipped. Its suburban setting means supermarkets and Brugge itself are nearby, whilst the surrounding woodland makes staying feel countryfied. If you're not driving then hiring bikes is a must to get into Brugge, and the camp site rents these for only 5 euros a day. We will be looking out for trekkershuts at other campsites around Europe, as it was a very comfortable and cost efficient way.

We found this a very clean site. Very busy with a lot of people arriving and departing everyday. I think the site is used by a lot of people for a stop off prior to the Ferry. Everyone was friendly and the kids had plenty of friends to play with. The kids found an assault course at the rear of the campsite in the forest. This kept them amused for hours.
The Site is about 30 mins from the centre of Brugge. And about 10 mins walk from a large supermarket, mcdonalds etc.
I found the Motorhome pitches tight! You literally come out of your door and meet your neighbour face to face. But this was not the type of camp you use to holiday in more a sleeping area when you return from the beauty of Brugge.
I would rate is as a 7 out of 10.

We stayed for 8 nights, the site was really nice and the staff very friendly. A very busy little site with a good mix of nationalities. Toilet and shower facilities were very good although showers were sometimes on the cool side.
Site is very well located just a 20-25 min walk to the centre of Bruges. Although there is not a shop on the site there are supermarkets within a 10 minute walk.
Would certainly recommend the site and would not hesitate in staying there again.

Stayed here for 4 days. What a lovely, friendly, quiet and clean site. Shower & toilet facilities excellent.
The pitches were a little small, but a tip is to get near one of the 'gardens' between some of the pitches as this is nomansland!
We walked into Bruges every day and evening. Well lit at night along main streets so no hassle. Only took 20-25 minutes to walk into the centre.
The brewery is well worth a visit.
Good nearby food can be found at Sacre Coeur on the right hand side as you enter the City gates from the campsite and the pub next door is certainly worth a visit.
Would certainly return and recommend.
