The site was tidy and well maintained.
The toilet and shower block was clean, although a couple of the hot taps didn't work.
They could do with adding a little on site shop for basic food stuff, maybe a coffee shop stall.

Welcoming site,
Beautiful setting,
Clean facilities,
Plenty of room, nice wildlife,
The pitches are neat and grass was cut and easy to camp on.
I would recommend and will return.

Noisy and depressing site, came back after day out to find new campers had pitched so close they might as well have moved in with me.
Constant road noise.
Some units partied into the small hours with no warden intervention.
Grotty showers and toilets too, the full package. Never again.

Mixed feelings about this campsite, Is actually is a fishing site with 3 lakes but is ruined by a dozens of children around the fishing lakes who were running wild screaming and shouting some little kiddies only about 3 years old running very close to the waters edge! very dangerous, no parents with them, I noticed fishermen getting annoyed some actually packed up their fishing tackle early as it was impossible to fish. There is nothing for kiddies to do on this site, so why not make it an adults only.
It is a nice well kept site with nice pitches and a nice big toilet/shower block which was kept clean and had hand sanitizer outside the entrance which was good.
A small cafe on site although we didn't get chance to use it so cant comment, nice friendly helpful warden.
We would return if it was changed to Adults only site.

First visit to this site but it won't be the last. Booked it as it has a, carp lake. We were sited on the main area with eh but next time will go off grid beside the lake.
The wardens were smashing people and really helpful.
The toilets and showers were clean with hot water at all times.
There is a small hut where you can buy bread, milk and a few essentials on site.

I booked us in here because of the name - Crystal Lake is the setting for the scariness in the Friday the 13th film series!
The fishing pools dotted around are picturesque, but aside from those this site was a bit of a disappointment. A warden-type person asked for my booking reference number, and even though I showed the paypal receipt e-mail on my phone, seemed to still want the 8 digit number?! I couldn't find it after a few minutes faffing around in thew cold and rain with my phone (not a great start!) and we were left alone, but just a word of warning if booking in advance. Your name may well not be enough, very odd. And no owner around to rectify this :(
The toilet/shower block is very spacious but there were issues with the lights not working sometimes - I couldn't find a switch so don't know where these are controlled from. Showers are hot but be careful of pressure if the other cubicle is also occupied, as this seemed to drop to a dribble at times. There is a large pot washing area in this block too. At £17 per night including EHU I didn't really think this was great value, management could be a bit more visible.

Friendly staff on arrival - once we found them, although we did arrive Sunday afternoon.
Toilet block Gents had almost no working light bulbs and only two working loo cubicles, despite some being reserved for 'seasonal' use (August isnt high season, how come?). Only 50% of basins had ANY water, let alone hot. Only one of two showers had a lock, although there were two more 'out of use'. On the 3rd day the 'lockable' one's shower unit had been smashed, but I was surprised to find the other one now had a lock. Unfortunately part way through the power in this shower went off - end of shower. Drains were getting blocked every day so hours without any facilities at all. No comment on the Ladies block as my wife avoided using it.
Refuse facilities were two skips and both pretty full from day one, by day four, litter all over the surrounding area. Generally litter drifting around the site most of the time.
Units are parked close together. Power leads trailed everywhere from units to sockets, and in one case over 50 metres to a residential unit. In one case the power leads crossed the access road and were being driven over - not safe.
Wash up facilities had no lighting or hot water.

Really disappointed with this site. The staff are friendly enough when you can find them, but the state of the toilet and shower block are appalling! If you want to go fishing for the day, then the facilities are just about adequate, but as for staying overnight, we wouldn't do it again. The litter and rubbish around the site, made it look an eyesore, and the net dips were stuffed full of rubbish. The men's showers stunk, and there wasn't a clean toilet. Couldn't find a hot tap in there that actually worked! The women's toilets were dirty and the showers were disgusting. Someone had left a whole lot of hair on the window sill, and the tiles needed a good wash down to get rid of the cobwebs! There was mould growing on the push button of the shower and the extractors do not work. There were no locks on the men's shower doors either. You have to have an electric card for the men's shower too. The laundry room is very outdated.
All in all, a lot of money needs to be ploughed into this once wonderful site, this would be a fantastic site
