Arrived at Hurn Lane after a s very stressful journey after M5 had been shut and had to take diversions through villages around Weston. Had phoned ahead to let the staff know we were running late and we had no idea of our ETA.

They were very considerate to the situation and said they would phone back later if we hadn't arrived by 7pm. In the end we did arrive before this time after 8hrs on the road and were greeted with a smile.

The site was only about a third full the time we were there, so no difficulties with the clean and tidy facilities.

The large hardstanding pitches were extremely well cared for and flat, and there was a permanent food station on site selling burgers, fish and chips, which we had used on our first night avoiding the need to cook so late after arriving.

Took a lovely long bike ride, part of the pier to pier cycle route, to Kinston Seymour where we stopped at a cafe, The Owl in the Oak.

Also cycled to Weston some of which was along the beach at Brean.

The site was very quiet, however, it is edged by a large Holiday Caravan site, whose children's park is adjacent to one edge, which I could imagine being noisy in the Summer Holidays.

A lovely site and would recommend

Typical CAMC site with good sized pitches probably 50% grass / hardstanding all with electric. Super helpful wardens who were happy to help.

Facilities also good standard you expect from the club. Laundry £5 per wash, £1. 25 for 15 mins dryer.

The site is surrounded by campsites - it's fairly peaceful but noise from other sites, such as loud music, was noticeable at times.

A 5-10 minute walk up to main road. Buses only run hourly in each direction - we waited but driver wouldn't let anyone on as said bus already full.

From main road another 5-10 minutes walk through sand dunes to beach.

On site we noticed several 4 wheelers dotted around parked up behind pitches on the grass - not on marked pitches. Areas of dead grass would say there had been others. If owners were on site would mean them driving across other pitches to access - and being very close to marked pitches.

During our stay 'site security' vans drove round the site a couple of times a day.

All in all a good well kept site.

Friendly lady on reception and male warden very helpful and rang to advise we had only x time to get there before they closed, so very thoughtful and considerate. When we arrived they even looked at us as old duffers that would not like to be pitched next to the play area (war zone) and they were right, so we were allowed to pick our pitch which again was very considerate of them. So we were very impressed.

Then we went to the scruffy looking trailer in front of reception, supposedly the food venue for the site, which we can only surmise was an external vendor, as everywhere else was neat, clean and tidy so why was this unhealthy looking vendor on the site, nobody was buying anything which said a lot, we quickly moved away and cooked for ourselves in our caravan.

Phone and Wi-Fi signal were not great so we gave up trying to steam Goggle box and listened to the radio, fortunately it was Michelle visage followed by spooney so we were well entertained, and at 10 pm we respected our neighbours and turned off everything intending to go to sleep, fat chance of that as two little 5/6 years olds nearby were running a mock till god knows when, not the fault of the campsite but the disrespectful parents who did not give a toss.

A bottle of red helped us get off to sleep at 11pm ish despite the racket outside yes they looked 5 to 6 years old. Then in the early hours we were awoken by the shouting and arguments from a couple of pleasantly mouthed individuals who sort to wake the entire site so that we could all hear their matrimonial problems. Peace followed, well until about 6. 45 when 3 mins out of every 5 were occupied by the sound of aircraft overhead on the flight path flying into Bristol Airport.

In short this site is good for an overnight stop to break up the journey but not great for insomniacs.

Regards

E and F

Conveniently placed site close to M5 and beach. Extremely well maintained grounds and shower blocks, its clear that the wardens take great pride in their site.

The beach is about a 20 minute walk - wear long trousers and sturdy shoes if walking through the nature reserve. We accessed the beach via the car park to save stings and scratches.

We stopped at the lovely cafe/pub here, with a terrace overlooking the beach.

The site is also walking distance to all that the Brean Amusement park has to offer.

As a C&MHC site the facilities were up to their usual standard of care and cleanliness.

The wardens were helpful and the site was accessible.

There is a little cooked food hut open mornings and evenings (I think it was 5 out of 7 days/nights selling burgers, pizzas, chips and more).

We didn't use it but it would have been much appreciated if we'd needed it.

The site is divided into grass pitches area (some with fully serviced pitches) and hardstanding pitches area. It wasn't until the day we left we discovered the facilities block in the grass pitches area was much more modern with better shower cubicles set up than the hardstanding area one.

It's a flat site with not too much in the way of trees and shrubs so the problem we found was that there was not really any appreciable shade and the sun was full on.

A bonus was that it is a short walk to the dunes and the beach and also the bus stops for Burnham on Sea and Weston Super Mare.

Stayed here for 2 nights, in the week that the hot weather broke, delivering us a huge storm on our first night!

This was our first stop of our two week holiday and was pleasantly surprised by this lovely site.

For sure this area is full of caravan (both static and touring) sites, with what seemed like hundreds of mobile of homes on each.

The site itself has nearly 140 pitches both grass and hardstanding, and all seemed to be mostly level.

The hardstanding pitches were well maintained and the grass pitches were also in good condition.

There were 2 toilet bocks, one cleaned in the morning and one in the afternoon which meant facilities were always available.

Wardens were helpful on arrival, and whilst they were visible during the day, we didn't have any other reason to interact.

There is a bus stop just over 5m away that will take you to Burnham or Weston, Brean is a 30m walk away where there are plenty of holiday type takeaways and bars.

It was quiet during our stay, maybe because the schools had restarted after the summer break, which made our stay peaceful.

Would certainly recommend this site

This is a handy site for North Somerset coast and levels, it's only a 10 minute walk from an 8 mile sandy beach and dunes, although the first part of the walk is along a bendy lane with no pavement, so care should be taken.

I went in September and although busy it was quiet with plenty of space and pitches to choose from. I imagine in the height of the season that there would be lots of families and this is reflected in the large kids playground.

The dog walking facility is practically non-existent, just a fenced in short strip of grass, not ideal.

Facilities were always clean and the site well maintained, as expected from a CAMC site, and the staff very helpful and smiley.

Pros. Lovely clean site. Nice wardens. Good sized pitches.

Cons. Dog walk area is about the size of two standard pitches. May as well not have one. No shop nearby.

Unity Farm Holiday camp is next door so a bit noisy at night but it is as advertised.

This is a nice friendly site the facilities were perfect and cleaned often. It's short to the beach walking through the sand dunes.

The beach itself is very good and long enough to find plenty of space to spread yourself out on.

Whilst there we drove about a mile down the road to Brean Sands where there was a market on and we managed to pick up a few items

There is not much going on at the site and the pub is a long way off so take your own drink

The pitch is very large and you have plenty of room for an awning.

If this place had a clubhouse it would be perfect

I did not see a children's park but there may have been one

We enjoyed our stay at Hurn Lane for only one night as we were returning home to the Midlands from Cornwall and wanted to break our journey.

We have stayed on previous occasions and we knew that the facilities would be up to the usual Club high standards, for which we were very grateful as we arrived in the middle of a rain storm and wild winds!

Staff as usual were efficient and helpful - Thanks.
