This was an unplanned, and surprisingly good, stay at Knock School. We were let down by Calmac Ferries 4 days in a row (I won't elaborate!) in our attempt to get to The Isle of Arran.
We were met by Pauline who was extremely helpful. The pitch was perfect, loads of space, well maintained grounds, some shelter and very quiet.
The facilities are within the old school outhouses and are rather quirky. All OK once you get used to it, clean with single electric shower unit.
Loads to explore in this beautiful corner of Scotland. Gavin Maxwell's bronze otter memorial is a short walk away, the coast line is interesting too, especially Ninians Cave. Port William, The Isle of Whithorn (Steam Packet Inn) and Garlieston (Harbour Inn) are worth visiting. The Mull of Galloway is about an hours drive, but again worth the trip on a clear day.
Calmac repaired their ferry and by Wednesday we were off. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will definitely return.

Peaceful, well-maintained, extremely clean and tidy site with lovely areas of flower borders.
My pitch was spacious and completely level.
The host was friendly and attentive.
Shower and toilets were always spotless and charming as they are part of the old school.
Surrounding area is beautiful and extremely quiet, I never tired of the walk to the golf course from the site every evening, memorable sunsets too.
Many walks nearby and interesting villages, Isle of Whithorn, Whithorn, Wigtown and Garlieston are all great to explore.
I will be back again!

Can't fault the site for anything. I prefer smaller sites and it ticked all the boxes.
Pauline met me when I arrived and explained everything. The site is very well kept and good value for money.
The area is good for both cycling and walking. When cycling, I found the roads to be quiet and the motorists (with two exceptions!) to be respectful of my position as a cyclist.
At low tide the beach walk is fantastic.
I couldn't recommend Knock School Campng Site or the area enough.

Location - excellent, nice and quiet with a short 10 min walk down a track to a lovely beach (there is parking at the beach but I would imagine it would get busy in peak season)
Site - perfect, small with just 10 pitches (all with electric hookup), has everything you need for a short or medium stop. Having only one shower could be busy in the summer but we understand it never gets fully booked which is a surprise going by the location, spotless site etc.
Owner - great communication, helped us park our caravan when we turned up as this was our first ever trip so caravan novices. Nice lady and her son who told us everything we needed to know about the site and the area.
Area - so much to do in the local area, Dumfries and Ayrshire coasts so a perfect base to explore fishing villages, beaches, coastal walks etc.

We had a lovely 3 night stay here.
Situated in an ideal position to explore the Isle of Whithorn.
St Medans Golf Course and coastal path within 10 minute walk.
Beautifully laid out compact, quiet site with very friendly and helpful owner.
Some hardstanding pitches, all near to water and dark waste disposal.
Simple, clean toilets and shower with plenty of hot water.

This site is quiet, spacious and peaceful.
The owner is charming and helpful and the facilities clean.
There is a lot to explore in the area with a long and quiet, sandy beach at the end if the track opposite the site entrance and Scotland's book town to browse a few miles away at Wigtown.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Small and quiet site in great location.
Very clean facilities, lovely flowers in the garden and beautifully maintained grass pitches as well as several hard ones.
Very welcoming.
No hesitation in recommending this place.
Might not be the best for younger children.

This was our first stop in Scotland on a 3 week tour and what a way to start it! We had 3 fantastic nights helped by incredible weather.
It is a very peaceful and relaxing small site. Nice spacious level pitches and good basic spotless facilities.
We were mainly visiting relatives and have been to the area several times but the first time camping and with our dog.
We will definitely return another time.
Thank you to Pauline who owns and runs the site. She is friendly and very helpful

Spent 2 weeks here with our daughter and son in law.
What a remarkably relaxing place to visit. A small site with a big welcome.
Plenty of walking and the sunsets and the moon rising were incredible.
Pauline is lovely, friendly and was very kind when my husband ended up in hospital for a few days.
We will definitely be visiting again.
