Tried to book third year in a row but a telephone message said closed for refurbishment. Had a look when at another site and it is empty with Rose Tree sign gone. Empty park and no apparent work being done as of August 2015. Doesn't look as if anything is happening, pity as it was reasonably priced.

Apparently this site is closed for 2015.

No auto-response on their email. No response to an enquiry via this website. Their website link doesn't work either, but if you chase it up by phone there is a very sketchy answer phone message.

No helpful really, and not difficult to make better either.

Just hope the 'major construction' they are undertaking is worthwhile.

Stopped at this site for 1 week in September 14. First visit with folding camper. Basic facilities but did the job. Owners really nice and helpful. Pitches on the grass area could of been a bit better marked but only a minor niggle. Under the bristol airport flight path so a bit annoying with planes but not the sites fault. Price was fair. Road to the village (right out of the entrance) quite narrow, not ideal for walking. All in all we would visit again.

Reasonable site, facilities basic but adequate, disturbing amount of do' s and don't' s posted everywhere, £36 pounds for 2 nights with hook up ok, however our brother in law and his partner joined us for one night and had to pay £25 without hook up? It does say no under 30's which means our niece was not allowed on site to visit even for an hour.

We had a lovely week at the Rose Tree Touring site, the site owners were most helpful and we are really grateful for their help setting up as it was our first time caravanning. The site is beautifully maintained, they are really proud of working there. Recommend it more highly, we will definitely be going back again.

We came to this site for the first time and were very happy to be here. We have used all types of sites large and small and this place did not disappoint. A small site for about 30 pitches, it is for the over 30s only, so no chance of noisy children or disruptive teenagers.

The site facilities – toilets, showers and personal washing facilities - are limited in number, basic, but clean. There is a closed gate to open and shut every time you drive on and off the site, but that didn’t bother us as another Weston site we used last year does the same thing.

The site is part sloping and part level, but this doesn’t seem to be a problem.

Do not recommend walking the mile or so into the village – the roads are narrow and have numerous blind bends which can pose a danger.

If you like farm cider (scrumpy) Home Farm is only a few yards to the right around a bend where you can buy their own farm cider – it is recommended!

The prices here are very reasonable; this is the least we have paid in many years for a week’s camping.

Very minor downsides:

The area is directly under the flight path for Bristol airport so take earplugs if you are a light sleeper or need a quiet night’s sleep.

Owls hoot sometimes incessantly late at night so -again - see above.

Would definitely use again.

My wife and I spent four nights here in a tent during mid August in mostly fine weather. The site is for over thirties only, and large groups are discouraged. Dogs are allowed, and although we don’t own a pet, other campers showed courtesy, keeping their dog on a lead and walking it on the doggie area.

We paid sixteen pounds per night including EHU, and would have stayed longer but was not happy with paying twenty five pounds per night for the August Bank Holiday Weekend charge. We don’t support this level of profiteering.

The site is split into two fields, both sloping but not too badly. Dave, the warden, was friendly and showed us to our pitch which was generous. The grass was cut short and the ground was easy enough to get our pegs in.

The site facilities are of the concrete block, corrugated roof variety and kept very clean. Two unisex showers, which are free, provide a good shower during the hours of daylight. One “rule” is no showers between “Dusk and Dawn” which I fell foul of when returning after a hot day out. The shower lights are off, and a sign on the door reminded campers that showers are not available after dusk. It was 10. 50pm. I was able to strip wash in the Gents facility which has one urinal, two loos and washroom. Again clean and well kept. There is provision for washing up, and a small 10p charge is made for hot water at this point.

The gates to the campsite are locked at night, and should you arrive back late then your car will have to be left outside the gate until the morning, preventing the headlights from late returnees disturbing the peace of the site.

The site was quiet. Which we liked at lot. In our week there no one disturbed us through loud music, drunken late night banter or even overly loud TV’s. Aircraft noise, mentioned by other reviewers was not an issue for three nights; only on the last night did air traffic increase a little. Local facilities include a Sainsbury’s and Spar within two miles, and “sizzler” chain pub within a mile that serves food and drink. If you are not familiar with this chain, think Wetherspoons, but the beer isn’t just as good.

We visited many National Trust properties including Tynesfield and Clevedon Court which are worth a visit if you like historic houses. Weston Super Mare is only a few miles away and seems to have improved somewhat since last time I was there, twenty years ago, shedding some of its run down image. Worth a visit.

So is Bristol. The Cathedral is free, and there is much else to see and do. Make sure you visit the old market in Bristol for cooked food from market vendors, as well as original crafts.

Overall, we liked this site and the area. It’s small, well kept and warded by Dave and Donna though it can’t claim outstanding views over the local countryside it is quiet and well placed for local amenities.

Lovely lovely, would definitely recommend this site. We are quite private campers and don't like being too close to the next people, and this site catered for that. All the facilities are good, clean, and no fuss although my husband mentioned he had to put 10p in to use the washing up facilities, I have no idea if that's true as I don't wash up:-) Grass is cut, there's a good dog walking area, the recycling area is sooo good! The owner is clearly passionate about recycling and you can't knock that at all. She caters for that and makes it easy.

The site is secure with closed gates. It's very quiet, other than being under a flight path to Bristol airport but that didn't bother us (Londoners, and I lived under the Heathrow flightpath) it may bother others but I don't think they fly all night. It's not as close to any beach as I first thought, (maybe I read it wrong) as in, I wouldn't walk there, but there are 2 great beaches within a short drive. Sand bay is quiet, weston is a great family beach but not tacky like some others. Please be aware you cannot take dogs on the pier at weston. Burnham isn't a fun area, bit depressing, sorry Burnhamers, and also dogs are restricted on a very dull beach/area. Finishing on a high note, love this campsite will go back if they will have us lol:-)

Owner and Warden made us very welcome. The site is quite small and split into two small fields - all are grassed pitches. One field for season pitches and the other for touring tents, campers, caravans and hikers. There are reported to be 30 pitches, but half are being used by the season pitches. The touring pitches are very well spaced, approx 9mtrs per pitch and well marked. Site is for adults only over 30yrs. If you have more then two people staying on one pitch, the fee is quite high for the additional person/s.

The site does not attract large groups of people, however, we visited with our parents and we were sited together (Family group of 5. ) The field is very well maintained and 10amp electric hook-up available on most pitches. The field is sloping, with most pitches on the slope. They provide concrete blocks to level the caravan and extended power cables to reach the electric points.

The site has extensive waste recycling, but was not enclosed, so was quite visible and an eyesore from some pitches. Also at the bottom end of the touring field, they recycled food waste from the site along with the grass and hedge waste - this was a bit smelly at times and did attract small flocks of gulls and other wild beasts. The edge of the park was ditched, so should be well draining pitches. The water points were both located in the Season Touring field. The grey waste was disposed of in the water points. The Chemical Waste was located alongside the toilet block. There was a sink to wash dishes at a cost of 10p.

There was no facility to wash or dry clothes. The very small toilet block/s were very compact. Gents = 1xflush toilet, 1xflush toilet + wash basin, 1 x Wash basin, 1 x Urinal & 1 x Shower. Ladies = 1 x shower, 2 x wash basins and flush toilets. All are spotless. The toilet block are very old outbuildings (concrete blocked sheds) and has asbestos roofs. They are very well ventilated, which would be cold in inclement weather.

There is a dog exercise area and dogs were welcome. The site is positioned off quite a busy narrow lane. It is not safe to walk along the lane outside the site. Nearest shops and pub were about 1 mile away. T. V digital reception is excellent on all types of aerial. The owner also offers wifi, but I did not use this facility. There is a tall communications tower towards the top of the touring field.

The site is located under the flight-path to Bristol Airport - excellent for plane spotters. The site is easily accessed from J21 M5 (10mins). The actual entrance is quite shoddy and gates are closed 24/7, so you will need to get out of your vehicle each time to open and close the gate. The gate is locked between 11pm and 7am every day - not sure quite why.

The local Sand Bay Beach is not for bathing (sinking mud. ) However, within a few miles is the golden beach of Weston-Super-Mare, which has plenty to do and see. Brean sands is also a must - fantastic golden sands. There is small wooden shed near the gated entrance, which has extensive literature on places to see and visit, local pub guide and including welcomed dogs.

The site has many rules - too many to type in this report. This can be off-putting, as they are very visual and time-consuming to read. Also terms of booking is quite intense. If you are paying a deposit, it is non-refundable. They do not accept Credit Cards, only cash or cheques, which need to be cleared in advance of your stay. The site is very friendly, clean, quite and has a good county-side feel. It could be challenging in busy season, given the current toilet arrangements, however, we stayed out-of season and virtually had the field to ourselves - which made a difference. We had a good quiet break. I have tried to be honest with this report (good and not so!)

Have visited this site this bank holiday weekend and a few times before. The owner and manager are very helpful and friendly. They have very basic toilet and shower block but always spotlessly clean, washing up facilities for campers and chemical toilet disposal, dog walking area and recycling. Out and about there is a sizzlers pub within walking distance that serves good food, local spar shop and chip shop and a sainsburys for any thing you need. Close by is weston-super-mare, burnham-on-sea, sandy bay, brean sands, so there is plenty to see and do, or you can just stay on site and relax in the peace and quiet
