Elvaston Steam Rally

Let us just start off by saying despite the name this is not just a steam rally, so don't let that put you off if you're not into it! It's a great fun weekend, and a chance for a cheap weekend's camping with masses to do!

Elvaston Steam Rally

At the event will be a vintage and classic car display along with motorcycles, and masses of old steam traction engines. In addition there is a model show, a variety of market stalls, entertainment for children, including an amazing vintage fairground.

Elvaston Steam Rally

Steam Traction Engines, Vintage and Classic Cars & Motorcycles, Vintage Commercials, Tractors, Stationary Barn Engines, Fair Organs, Miniature Steam Engines, Model Show, Vintage Caravans, Craft Displays and Stalls, Market Stalls, Autojumble, Working demonstrations of Log Sawing and Threshing and more.

Elvaston Steam Rally

What's Else is On?

Entertainment including amazing Old-Time Fairground, Bouncy Castles, Falconry Experience, Punch & Judy! We are also having a flying demonstration of birds of prey in the main arena and gundogs will be in the main arena. This year, weather permitting, we will be inviting adults into the main arena to have a go at steering a big steam engine as many have expressed an interest in this.

There is a licensed bar on the rally site (not the camping field) and all Day & Evening catering facilities.

Elvaston Steam Rally

Where the Show is Held

The show is held in the grounds of Elvaston Castle Country Park, just south-east of Derby, and comprises a castle along with over 200 acres of woodlands, parkland and formal gardens and is worth a visit just for that! As well as visiting the rally, you can enjoy wonderful walks around the grounds.

Camp at the Show in your Tent, Caravan or Motorhome

Elvaston Steam Rally

Camping is from Friday 30th June at 1pm to noon on Monday 3rd July. So you can turn up on the Friday afternoon, or evening, get settled into your pitch, ready for all the fun on the Saturday and Sunday.

Free Bus Services

Elvaston Steam Rally runs a free bus service to and from Derby and the surrounding area. Special Buses will be showing "Elvaston Steam Rally" destination boards. Click here to download a printable version of the Bus Timetables

For more show information visit their website but make sure you come back and use our booking form to save the biggest amount!

After you have Sent off your Advanced Booking form

Your tickets will be available to collect when you arrive at the show.

On the weekend of the show, please arrive AFTER 1pm on Friday. The gates may be locked before that time and there's nowhere to park on the lane. There's a big Asda nearby in Spondon so you could park there or in the Co-op car park in Borrowash at the top of the lane leading to the rally should you have mis-timed your arrival. If you park in the main Castle car park you will be charged. Please don't enter before 1pm even if the gates are open as we have young cadets working in the field before noon. If you do go onto the camping field before noon you will be directed to the pay and display Castle car park opposite. You can also arrive on Saturday morning if that is easier.

On arrival you will be given a registration slip to fill in so please bring a pen!

If you have a blue badge PLEASE wave it at the stewards who will give you your registration form otherwise you WILL be in the wrong place.

Likewise if you're needing to either reserve a pitch for friends or are joining friends already there tell the gate steward and make arrangements for your friends to meet you.

Once you're clutching your registration form you will be directed to your pitch. You can then get set up, have a cuppa at your leisure then take the completed form back to the stewards who will exchange it for your envelope containing your camping passes and wristbands which you need to wear all weekend to gain entrance to the showground. Each person has one wristband which is for both days and Saturday night's entertainment on the showground. Please don't lose it or take it off during the event as it costs £16 per person to replace it!

Please check all your tickets are as ordered before leaving the booking in area

Please keep to the speed limits shown, there will be kiddies, elderly and disabled people around. Repeat offenders will be removed for the safety of everyone.

Due to the dreaded elfnsafety there are to be no mini-motorbikes, motorised mini kiddie scooters and similar things and no bouncy castles so please leave them at home.

Discounted Weekend Camping Tickets Here - Save £15 Three nights camping (tent, caravan, motorhome) and two days entry to the show for 2 adults and 2 children under 16, and including access to the Saturday evening funfair for just £45!

Advance camping bookings closed on 23rd June.

Hi Pam, I’m still here and dead chuffed they have changed their minds, I know it’s for charity but we have the worst OAP in Europe so every penny counts when going away even for a weekend.
Neal will be coming to see me in the next week or so and I’ll make out a cheque for him as well as myself, hopefully see you there.

Sure you have emailed me previously

No worries if you can't do this, we can catch up at the rally. Hope we will now see many more of the Grantham Massive.

Hello, Friends,

So far we have the grand total of two UKCS bookings; have to say this is most unusual for our normally very enthusiastic members.

If any of our regulars would care to email me privately to let me know why you're not coming this year it would be really helpful to see what more we can do. We have kept the price the same at £45 for the advance bookers and £60 those who prefer to come on spec. Single campers pay £35 in advance but £60 on the day.

I am mindful of the cost of living crisis, maybe that is putting people off as, for many, it is a very scary time with so many uncertainties yet lots of our non-UKCS regulars have already committed to the weekend.

Remember, advance bookings close in just over 2 weeks time on Saturday 17th June.

This is your one week warning!!

Next Friday, 23rd June, is the date advance booking close so if you'd like to come along and save yourself £15 on the gate price please post your application to arrive by then.

There will be space available on the weekend but the cost is £60 to all, members and public alike plus there will be NO single camper discount available on the weekend [not my decision.]

Thank you for all your support.

Please remember, if you don't have a printer, don't let that put you off, just handwrite the form exactly as it appears on the webpage.

If you are paying by BACS it is ESSENTIAL you also send in a form so that we can identify you and that you will have an envelope ready for collection on arrival. So far we have had one BACS payment and we have no idea who paid it!

Please note we cannot accept bookings by email with an attachment as several people have tried to do this time.

The only was you can currently pre-book is by sending a form, printed or handwritten, along with your payment.

Remember, if you want to come on spec, the cost is £60 CASH for singles, 2 adults and any children.

Thanks

If you want to be in at the special UKCS discount price you will need to send your booking off to arrive with us by Friday 23rd June

Due to a change in our systems [not my choice] we can no longer accept late bookings; there is, quite simply, not the time to get everything sorted and where it needs to be.

Newbies, I have had an email from someone enquiring as to why their tickets haven't arrived yet!

Follow the signs for weekend caravans or non-booked camping [it's all the same place] opposite the main Elvaston Castle entrance which is brown signed.

On arrival our stewards will meet you and give you a registration form before they direct you to your pitch. Please let them know if you are disabled, have a generator, are pitching a large tent/trailer tent or wish to save spaces for friends who will be joining you later.

Your registration form is ESSENTIAL should we need to get hold of you urgently. For example a few years ago a trailer tent caught fire, once we had contacted the fire brigage we could get in touch with the owners. Please bring a pen; you are welcome to set up then have a cuppa while filling your form in. You then take this to the stewards' booking in area where they will exchange your registration form for your pack containing camping permit, vehicle pass and wristbands. If you have a motorhome please display both passes in your unit. This year the child wristbands are green and narrower than the adult bands. We expect these to last you all weekend so please don't lose them!

Any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Hello Friends, thank you for your support and goodbye for another year.

HUGE thank you to your head stewards The Nichs and their team who worked so hard over the weekend, we couldn't do this without you. I am so sorry for the couple of issues you had but hope this didn't impact on any of our campers, hopefully it wasn't noticed by anyone and no one else was affected; after 45 years on the job and despite being an old lady now I like to think I still know what I'm talking about!

Sorry to those I either didn't get to say hello to or, in the case of Barry, was feeding the 5,000 when he came or his dog didn't like what was going on in the craft tent! [I was having a belt made!] Hope she soon calmed down. bless her.

If all goes to plan the camping forms will have changes so an advanced warning please read carefully!! Wishing you all well and fingers crossed I will see you all next year.

Pamcram
