Elvaston Steam Rally and Camping Weekend July 2015

The Elvaston Steam Rally is held near the lovely Elvaston Castle in Derbyshire. It offers two days of events on the weekend of July 4th and 5th 2015. You can camp on site from Friday to Monday.

Details of the Weekend Camping Tickets here

Let us just start off by saying despite the name this is not just a steam rally, so don't let that put you off if you're not into it!

At the event will be masses of old steam traction engines and a vintage and classic car display along with motorcycles. In addition there is a model show, a variety of market stalls, entertainment for children, including an amazing fairground. It's a great fun weekend, and a chance for a cheap weekend's camping with masses to do.

Steam Traction Engines, Vintage and Classic Cars & Motorcycles, Vintage Commercials, Tractors, Stationary Barn Engines, Fair Organs, Miniature Steam Engines, Model Show, Vintage Caravans, Craft Displays and Stalls, Market Stalls, Autojumble, Working demonstrations of Log Sawing and Threshing and more.

What's Else is On?

Entertainment including amazing Old-Time Fairground, Bouncy Castles, Falconry Experience, Punch & Judy, Pauline Reader Dancers, Dizzy Wizzard, Heanor Gate Steel Band and Derby Hospitals Band. All Day & Evening catering facilities.
The ever popular J. C. Balls 'DIGGER DANCE' team will be there on Sunday, an amazing entertainment show exhibiting the flexibility and talent of JCB drivers. The Digger Dance team follow a precisely choreographed routine to music, containing several daring manoeuvres and even balancing the machines on their sides.

There is a licensed bar on the rally site (not the camping field). The fairground and some stalls are open Saturday night with full catering and the bar. There is entertainment in the beer tent both Friday and Saturday night. The whole event is designed to be family friendly and they welcome children.

Camp at the Show in your Tent, Caravan or Motorhome

Camping is from Friday 2pm on Friday 3rd July to noon on Monday 6th July. So you can turn up on the Friday afternoon, or evening, get settled into your pitch, ready for all the fun on the Saturday and Sunday. You can even stay for Sunday night, and leave Monday morning, to make it a nice long weekend.

The discounted rate for advanced bookings has now closed however you can still turn up at the weekend and prices for camping for Friday after 2pm and Saturday before noon arrivals as follows; Camping for 2 adults and their children is £50, Solo camping for one adult is £40. Prices for camping from Saturday NOON to 6pm Saturday; Camping for 2 adults and any children is £40 and Solo camping for one adult is £30.

More Information

The show is held in the grounds of Elvaston Castle Country Park, just south-east of Derby, and comprises a castle along with over 200 acres of woodlands, parkland and formal gardens and is worth a visit just for that! As well as visiting the rally, you can enjoy wonderful walks around the grounds.

Generators are permitted but can only be run between 10am and 6pm. You need to tell the stewards you wish to use one when you arrive. You will be pitched in a seperate area if you are using a genny.

Elvaston Castle Steam Rally Limited reserve the right to refuse admission.

For more show information visit their website !

You'll also find the latest updates and further info about this event in our message forums

Sent off your Advanced Booking form already?

Some information about what happens once you arrive at the show:

Please arrive AFTER 2pm. The gates may be locked before that time and there's nowhere to park on the lane. There's a big Asda nearby in Spondon so you could park there or in the Co-op car park in Borrowash at the top of the lane leading to the rally should you have mis-timed your arrival. If you park in the main Castle car park you will be charged. Please don't enter before 2pm even if the gates are open as we have young cadets working in the field before noon. If you do go onto the camping field before noon you will be directed to the pay and display Castle car park opposite.

On arrival you will be given a registration slip to fill in so please bring a pen!

If you have a blue badge PLEASE wave it at the stewards who will give you your registration form otherwise you WILL be in the wrong place.

Again, if you have a genny, please tell the stewards on arrival or you may end up in the wrong place and not be able to use it.

Likewise if you're needing to either reserve a pitch for friends or are joining friends already there tell the gate steward and make arrangements for your friends to meet you.

Once you're clutching your registration form you will be directed to your pitch. You can then get set up, have a cuppa at your leisure then take the completed form back to the stewards who will exchange it for your envelope containing your camping passes and wristbands which you need to wear all weekend to gain entrance to the showground. Each person has one wristband which is for both days and Saturday night's entertainment on the showground. Please don't lose it or take it off during the event as it costs £15 per person to replace it!

Please check all your tickets are as ordered before leaving the booking in area

Please keep to the speed limits shown, there will be kiddies, elderly and disabled people around. Repeat offenders will be removed for the safety of everyone.

Due to the dreaded elfnsafety there are to be no mini-motorbikes, motorised mini kiddie scooters and similar things and no bouncy castles so please leave them at home.

Not that I'm anti-social or anything, I just like my own space lol. Plus if I was in the thick of everything the dogs would bark like crazy every time someone came too near the tent, and I wouldn't like them to annoy anyone.

Well then I apologise for being stupid, but while Bob has indeed previously posted that we can't book until after Easter, the website says there is a form available:

"For more show information visit their website     but make sure you return here use the booking form on this page to ensure you get your discount!"

Except, obviously, that it's not, because it's not out yet. Perhaps the webpage could be modified so that the easily confused like me won't misunderstand.

The main camping weekend details are up on the Elvaston website now but PLEASE don't book from there or you won't get your special UKCS discount.

Please note, we have another new postal address for this year and it will help me enormously if you could all follow the instructions on your application.

Should you wish to bring friends who aren't members may I respectfully suggest they sign up to UKCS to benefit from the members discount otherwise please direct them to the main Elvaston website where they can print off a form and pay the full rate.

Hi Dolores, we accept Postal Orders or, alternatively, do you have a friend/relative you could pay cash to in exchange for a cheque?

There's always the opportunity to come along on the weekend and pay cash if that would suit you better.

Just make sure you choose a direct route, Barry!

Camping will be in different fields this year so no going up to Spondon.

Thank you, Tracy!

I should be getting the next batch on Tuesday night, all being well and will try to update the list on Wednesday 20th May.

After that there will be another gap before you hear from me, probably the second week in June.

It's rather unfortunate that the new chap who deals with the steam rally mail lives a way away and doesn't have the opportunities to drop it round like the previous lady did so please bear with me.

Me again, have had a question, the answer to which may apply to some of you.

Should you wish to make a booking for more than one unit it's absolutely fine to send one cheque for the group as long as it's clearly marked on the back which people the cheque is for and there are separate application forms and addressed envelopes for each unit.

Should others in your group not be UKCS members they will need to either pay the full advanced rate of £40 OR join to get their discount. To make it fair to all the discount is only for UKCS members.

HTH

So just join the UKCAMPSITE.CO.UK IT IS FREE.

Thank you SO much for all the applications. Looks like there will be a LOT of newbies at Elvaston this year. I hadn't realised this when I composed the acknowledgement email so, if you're a newbie who's not included on the latest batch this is for you!

On arrival you will be given a registration form to fill in so please bring a pen! You will then be directed to your pitch; should you be a club member please make the gate steward aware of this. There will be time to set up your unit and settle in. Once that's done you need to take your registration form to the booking stewards who will exchange it for your envelope containing your wristbands, car and camping pass. Should there be extra adults in your party you may purchase their passes at that time. There will be a small discount on the gate prices and, more importantly, they will give access to the Saturday night event which is not open to the general public. On the Friday afternoon/evening you are most welcome to join us on the showground where there will be some trade stands open along with catering and the licensed marquee with entertainment.

Thank you again to each and every one of you for the support you give to our event which is run by volunteers. The profits all go to local charities.

If you've not yet applied but are thinking of coming PLEASE remember to write your details on the back of the cheque as described on page one of the application. Also we ask for a self addressed envelope. This is for me to use for your passes which you collect from the booking in stewards.

It's REALLY helpful if you could both enclose an envelope and write on it with the details we ask for. Done correctly this saves me a lot of time.

Sorry to moan but there's only me doing all the paperwork and there's a lot of it!

Thank you for your support.

However here are all sites within 5 miles of Crich Museum

Hi All, we're away, too and the Wi-Fi is pathetic so thanks to everyone who's replied on the thread.

Barry, our daughter says there's a pub in Crich which allows caravans in the car park. There are no facilities and the loo is only open pub hours but it might be cheap! Perhaps you could google pub, camping, Crich as she doesn't know the name of it.

You could try googling Alderwasley as that's not too far away and there are a few sites there, guess it depends how close you need to be.

Did you know if you buy a ticket to Crich you can use it for the rest of the year?!

"Our" Tracy has stayed at the site at Wirksworth where our daughters live so perhaps she could advise what that one's like, it's not TOO far away from Crich.

From what I remember the field isn't TOO bad, perhaps Tracy & Co could confim.

Some of the steam engine men have tin baths hanging on the outside of their living vans and use them...we are far more civilised and have a shower in our motorhome!

For those of you who don't know, we also have a 1936 10 ton steamroller called Chichester which my husband and our family will be exhibiting so we camp on the showground.

Was rather concerned that someone phoned my P O Box man on his home phone to enquire why she'd not had confirmation of her booking.

Don't know how the lady concerned got hold of his number but, of course, he wasn't able to help her at all.

If you have any general camping questions please ring me, Monday to Friday between 9 and 5 on 07969 264 879. If you have a general question or a specific question about your booking then please email me

camping AT elvastonsteam.co.uk

Generally I'm not able to answer specific questions about your booking by phone as there's an absolute ton of paperwork for me to wade through so you could be in for a very long call.

I appreciate it's really frustrating when your booking appears not to have been received or your friend has had email confirmation and you haven't but there can be several reasons for this happening so please be patient. I try to do my best for all of you.

Thanks

Pam

The showers are in a large mobile unit and have separate cubicles. They are only available at certain times of the day and times are advertised on the unit door. You may need to ask the stewards where the unit is sited.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, Barry and Tracy!

Mattandtrish, you will be camping on a farmer's field and there are NO facilities other than those stated ie, portable toilets, a shower unit, fresh water taps and waste water disposal.

Gennys can be run, from memory, between 10am and 6pm but Tracy will probably be along to correct me, she's good like that.

Kind Regards

Pam

Hi Gang, you now have just one week left to post off your applications to camp at the steam rally.

Advance bookings at the special rate close next Saturday, 20th June.

After this date there will still be pitches available if you'd like to come "on spec" but it will cost you £50 instead of £37.

Hi Gang, looks like there WILL be a separate genny field this year but it won't be the usual one. It's on the top left of the main field as you look from the gate, rather than the usual one on the right.

Well that's according to the map I was give yesterday, IF it is definitely decided by the powers that be!

Don't forget, just one week to go until the Advance Booking Closes and you you will no longer qualify for the UKCampsite.co.uk Members Discounted Rate to the Elvaston Steam Rally at just £37 instead of the full price of £50.

Book in advance to get the exclusive discounted UKCampsite.co.uk Members price of just £37. This includes 3 nights camping in any type of tent, caravan or motorhome, and admission to the rally on both days and Saturday night for 2 adults and their children. The cost for single campers is just £28.

Download the advanced ticket booking form from here

You can still turn up on the day and pay on the gate, but you will pay the full £50 rate.

Me again.

I know this is a bit late for almost everyone but if you've not booked yet PLEASE ensure your application has sufficient postage as the chap who runs the mail service for the rally isn't able to go to collect and pay for under-paid items meaning I won't get them.

Someone from UKCS is going to be disappointed that their envelope never arrived.

Hi, Ladycake, cos like it says on the first page of the booking form;

"Include all telephone numbers and an E-mail address if possible so that we can contact you if necessary. Enclose a C5 (23x16cm) (9x6inch) unstamped envelope with your name and address for collection of your wristbands and permit on arrival to site."

It also gives you instructions on what to put on each envelope. This both speeds up your application and saves me a LOT of work when done properly!

If you've not signed your cheque I'll soon shout, by email!

Sorry to all the newbies if it sounds as if I make things complicated for you but when folk get it right it makes my job so much simpler and remember there's only me here to process all the paperwork.

So far we have over 150 advanced bookings, both UKCS, other clubs and public camping. If everyone can write the necessary details on their envelopes, cheques and forms it saves me hours of work. Imagine if I had to write on the back of all the cheques and write on everyone's envelopes! I'm SO grateful to everyone who helps me out.

Yes, I know, you're all sick of me rambling on by now but PLEASE only book for yourselves and fellow UKCS members using the UKCS website application form.

We've worked successfully with UKCS for a number of years now to our mutual advantage hence offering a pre-booking extra discount to club members which is not available to the general public.

Please don't abuse the system. If non-member friends want to come along with you and get extra discount simply ensure they sign up to the site, it's free to do and very easy. This keeps everyone happy and makes it fair to everyone.

Thank you for reading.

I'm the only one with the correct info but it's very rare, if not impossible, for me to be able to check a booking by phone as there are over 160 forms to wade through so that's best done by email.

Hi Gang, gentle reminder today is the last day to post your applications off, first class.

After Saturday there will be no more advanced bookings taken and the form will be removed from the website.

There should be space available to turn up on the weekend but the cost, for all, will be £50.

Thanks

The advanced booking form will be taken down shortly both here and on the Elvaston web page. There will still be space available for anyone who wishes to turn up "on-spec" any time after 2 pm on the Friday. The price, for all, will be £50 on the gate.

Will update the attendees list shortly.

WAARRGGHHHH, my phone has hardly stopped ringing all day with, "Am I too late to get my booking in?" Feel like replying, almost certainly, yes, dear, you've only had 10 weeks or so to think about coming along.

I'll be glad when tomorrow comes and I can say a definite no to all the members of cuttingitfine.com

We now have over 100 UKCS booked in and 79 public campers so it looks like we'll be having a bumper year.

Hi Gang, your weekend booking incudes weekend passes for TWO adults. A few folk have asked me about prices for extra adults wishing to camp with them or visit.

A FULL weekend wristband pass costs £16 per person and can be only purchased from your stewards, not the steam rally entrance. This wristband includes admission to the steam rally both days plus the Saturday night showground entertainment which is not open to the general public.

Should any extra people/visitors not wish to buy the full weekend pass then £10 day tickets can be purchased at the steam rally entrance, not from your stewards. They will cost £10 for one day but cannot be used for the Saturday night admission to the showground.

There are NO concessions on ticket prices this year as we have re-introduced free admission for children.

Hi Gang, just had an email from someone whose tickets haven't arrived!

For clarity's sake here you go:

The gates will be open after 2pm on the Friday afternoon. Please follow the signs for weekend caravans or weekend camping. We will be using some different fields to previous years but the entrance will be the usual one, directly opposite the main Elvaston Castle entrance. Please don't use any showground entrances as there won't be space to turn round!

Please note your cheque will not be cashed until the week beginning Monday 28th June.

Thanks

Pam

I keep saying we must add, "Please keep checking the UK Campsite Elvaston Forum for regular updates." Then, by next Easter when I'm writing the forms, I'll have forgotten all about it again.

The vet showed me the X-rays and the sack around his heart has filled with what the vet thinks is blood from the tumour, Im hoping if I keep him quiet it will stop bleeding and the Frusemide and Prednisoione will clear it, he is peeing a lot which the vet said he will do.

Thank you Steve and Angie....and this is before I start looking at the high finance!!!

Enveloping applications is usually pretty straightforward using my system but incredibly time-consuming.

Every envelope collected is a potential "spot the deliberate mistake" for your poor long-suffering booking stewards but they are superb at checking each one on opening so I'll apologise to everyone now for all my errors.

Please will someone rub my back, make me a stiff cup of tea and mutter, there there? Am quietly crawling walls here with phone calls and emails asking when the passes will arrive.

IT WON'T and we haven't sent passes out for years now as is explained on the application form. If only folk could take the time and trouble to read the information it would save them a lot of worry and a lot of my time......and what about confirmation by telephone is not available? Does anyone seriously want to hold on while I search over 200 forms?

Sorry for the rant and not being my usual sunny self but am trying hard to get your envelopes packaged up and I keep getting interrupted.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate the majority of folk who fill in their forms properly, submit the details correctly on cheques and envelopes and understand the procedures we've tried hard to write in simple English.

Prob preaching to the converted here but the reason we no longer send passes out is twofold.

Firstly, you all know how Royal Fail generally don't deliver a few applications each year? Well when we used to post them out it doubled the problem instantly as some of the passes we posted out didn't arrive.

Secondly, we had increasing amounts of fraud although why anyone would want to defraud a charity event run by volunteers is beyond me but more folk were doing it so we decided enough was enough an instigated the collection system.

I know this is harder work for your stewards and more time consuming for them. It is also frustrating for our campers who like to have their passes but, for the time being, we're sticking with our current system.

Another "preaching to the converted" message. If you've not had an email from me confirming your booking check your spam box. If still no email PLEASE don't contact the good folks at UKCS admin. All they can do is direct you to this thread to search for your username. They don't hold a copy of the attendees names, emails and addresses so won't be able to help you.

It's usually impossible for me to run a check by phone as per page one of the rally/booking info/form.

Well the dogs go under my caravan in the shaded cool grass, pretty sure they won't mind if your daughter wants to join them they will expect lots of stroking tho.

Yeah no problem with that .if you all arriving in convoy just all pitch alongside eachother as long as the required distances between units are adhered too. If someone arrives before others just tell the stewards pitching that you want to save 2 pitches and they will sort it for you

Err, this weekend it was grass growing with soil underneath! LOL. We were there from Friday to last night in our motorhome showing our steam roller at the Derbyshire County Show.

The ground is actually pretty compacted and if we don't have any more rain between now and then it should stay rock hard. Perhaps bring both sets of pegs to be on the safe side.

URGENT WARNING.....

We have had a message from Derbyshire County Council regarding the high temperatures expected over the next few days which is triggering a Level Two Alert. It boils down to

There are lots of simple steps people can take to stay safe during the high temperatures. Our advice includes:

staying out of direct sun and especially between 11am and 3pm

drinking plenty of water and non-alcoholic drinks

keeping bedrooms and living spaces cool by closing curtains on windows that face the sun and opening windows at cooler times of the day or overnight if safe to do so without posing a home security risk

turning off non-essential lights and electrical items as these can generate heat

wearing UV sunglasses to reduce UV exposure to the eyes, applying sunscreen of at least SPF15 with UVA protection and wearing a hat

wearing light loose-fitting cotton clothes to minimise the risk of sunburn

looking out for others especially vulnerable groups such as older people, young children and babies and those with serious illnesses

don't leave anyone in a closed, parked vehicle, especially babies, young children or animals.

Thanks for reading

Pam

PLEASE take extra care this year as the caravan/camping fields share a common entrance with the car park fields. The pedestrian exit will be pointed out to you as will the caravan exit which is through another field.

Please don't try to walk in and out through the vehicle entrance as it's likely to be very busy.

It was great to meet so many new people and catch up with "old" friends.

A BIG thank you to everyone for bearing with your stewards on what was a difficult year given the change of fields due to issues with rally car parking which were beyond our control. Thank you for your support of our event.

This was the highest ever number of campers at Elvaston so I'd like to personally thank all the stewards who did an amazing job and worked their socks off all weekend.

Tracy and Alan will be doing it all over again at Barton Gate Steam Rally and Family Festival in just 2 week's time so I hope they have recovered by then. Good luck, Guys!

I certainly didn't feel abandoned, I love being on my own

It took me longer than usual to pack up this time - usually everything goes in the van exactly the same way every time but this time I had to rearrange things to make room for the extra dog in the middle, and it took some doing. I've never played Camping Tetris until today

I left at 12.20, had a good journey back until I got up the M6 north of Knutsford then I hit queue after queue - must think of an alternative route for next year.

Ladycake, sorry I didn't get to see you but I didn't know who or what I was looking for - I was in the genny field right at the top end on the left, blue tent all on its own.

Thanks to Pam, stewards and everyone else for a great weekend - and if there's anyone who didn't see the steel band playing in the beer tent then you missed a treat, they were brilliant, and I hope they are there again next year.

This was our first one with grown up kids and the grandchildren. The steam fair was absolutely brilliant and so cheap for the grandkids to enjoy the rides, all the arena events and the static displays were also cracking, unfortunately there were a few bits that need a bit of thought in the camping and caravanning area. No showers on the Saturday morning due to a soaked generator, only open for a couple of hours without any prior notification of the timings being posted anywhere but on the shower door. Portaloos worked well but as always, always need cleaning! But whichever individual thought of the traffic plan for exiting from the public car park needs their head testing, exiting traffic passed between the caravans/tents and the loos, so what was a safe journey involved what was in essence crossing a busy road for the majority of Sunday afternoon, not good for kids. Oh and to the thieving toe-rag who stole my grandsons toys from under the canopy, what did you gain, two broken toys he had since a baby, you are the scum we don't need in the camping and caravanning fraternity!

Favour needed, please.

Have heard from a few folks who had probs with their sat-nav taking them to the wrong place and getting stuck with their units. They are telling me we give the wrong postcode.

I'd like to do a quick poll of how many were sent to the right place and how many the wrong one? We are thinking of not putting the postcode on the booking form, just giving advice to follow the brown signs.

Thank you

Pam

Used the instructions in the letter reference the turn off and follow the brown signs, postcode was taking us past the borrowash turn off, son used postcode and ended up at wrong place. Why not give the GPS coordinates of the car park entrance, far more useful and you can easily get them off google earth (just a thought)
Best regards

GPS co-ordinates ay be a better option although for some strange reason most sat-navs get it right.

Thank you, Steve and Ange, glad to hear you found us OK.

I find it really odd that a small minority of sat-navs take our visitors to the wrong place. What I don't like is when people get cross with ME!

I do think sat-navs need to be used in conjunction with common sense and not followed slavishly though!

Dogs trust said 3 to 5 years!! but my vet and myself think about 1year to 18 months,
I think it was fate, I saw a photo of Betty at dogs trust rang them up and was told she had been taken, so I drove over to dogstrust on the Sunday but nothing was suitable, on the Monday afternoon I typed into google, looking to give a collie a home in south Lincolnshire and the first thing to pop up was a dog called Betty!! I thought the last dog I looked at was called Betty also, so I telephoned the number and wound up at dogstrust again!! I said to them I was only there yesterday why didn't you show her to me then, it turned out the people that had booked Betty never turned up the next day for their meet and greet, so she was available again.
The rest is history she is settling in well.

Regulars, please read this year's booking form VERY carefully once it's online after Easter as there will be a LOT of major changes. Failure to note these will mean your booking will not be able to be processed as I will be unaware of any problems until it's too late for the advanced bookings.

A bit of advanced info, some of you may be pleased to hear that this year, in addition to cheque and Postal Order advanced payments, our new treasurer, who is taking over the finance side of things, will be accepting payments through BACS.

Message posted by pamcram on 03/03/2016 16:00:55Report Post Report this
Your guess was as good as mine until last week, Barry!

It's a direct bank transfer payment from one bank to another; in this case from a camper's bank to the steam rally account hence everything has to be spot on as I'm no longer dealing with the money side of things, the new treasurer is. The general view is that it will be easier for people to do as many folk no longer have a cheque book. We usually have a large number of enquiries about BACS so people have more payment options.

For the benefit of people who don't do Internet Banking and the like we still have payment by cheque or Postal Order so no one needs to worry. Everyone who books in advance can pay by whatever method is most convenient to them. For those who come on spec it's still cash only.

We have managed to hold last year's special UKCS discount price which was £37 for a couple/family and £28 for a single person hence it's REALLY important that only members book using the UKCS form. Those who aren't members can either join free or pay the £40 general public advanced booking price.

Hi Riowanda, some UKCS members have flags or UKCS stickers in their window.

Due to the large number of campers it is no longer possible to separate the UKCS members from public campers as we did many years ago. Alan and Tracy, your chief stewards, would have a fit of the vapours at the very thought of segregating units!

This year the opening/closing and booking in times will be altering. We realise this may mean some of you will be unable to attend but there are sound reasons for this and for 2016 will not be subject to further changes.

I'm not owdin me breff, Barry! My main point is that people read the first page and form carefully.

There will be a different name on the cheques but the cheque system is still the same, ie, won't be cashed until the week prior to the rally.

Car reg will be essential this year. I know some folk change their motor between booking and the rally but as long as we're aware of any changes that's fine.

The envelope system for your passes and wristbands remains the same, I just hope everyone can get it right as I don't think it's too hard. It's hard for me though to have to write out lots of envelopes and fill in details on the back of cheques when folk haven't realised or bothered what needs doing.

We've also tried to make it very clear where the camping field actually is as there are a few sat navs which deliver people to the wrong address then they get cross with me for leading them astray with the wrong postcode! This year am hoping no one takes a range rover and 28 foot caravan down someone's private drive! I really wanted the paperwork to say don't use a sat nav to find us, use your common sense but that wasn't allowed!

It's a pity the RAC or AA can't put signs out it is a big event.
I have a feeling that a certain sat nav that has a blokes name is to blame you know who you are.

Ay??? TomTom?!!

The signs you talk about are horrendously expensive especially as Elvaston Castle is largely brown signed. Everyone needs to follow those signs to get to the B5010 or, for those thechy minded it's 52°53’40.0”N 1°23’14.9”W.

I can tell you, with everything crossed, that camping should hopefully be in the fields slap bang opposite the main castle entrance with the genny field reverting to its usual place. Again, all being well public car parking will be moved to another field.
