 We enjoyed our one night here using the CAMC "free night" offer. A very warm welcome from the Duty Manager. The site is surrounded by trees and has no views out, but the autumn colours are attractive; choose your pitch carefully if you want morning or evening sun.
Very quiet in the evening - just birdsong. This is the only CAMC site where we've got the Wi-Fi. Children were not using the play area but were having fun cycling round the site.
There are excellent walks along the River Ayr in the grounds of Craigie House and the College - we walked as far as Dalmilling Golf Course before turning back, the dog absolutely loved it.
We laughed at the review that said "The central block needs to be. Knocked down and rebuilt. The showers in the male section had the worst shower I have used in my entire life. " No need to worry!
The toilet block is spotlessly clean, the showers are not the dreaded push-button ones & the water is hot & powerful; and I can live with pink tiles. My criticism would be that there are only 4 women's showers for 99 pitches and even in autumn on a nearly empty site, they were all in use before the 10:30 cleaning closure - the site needs fewer modesty cubicles & more showers. (The lease came up for renewal not long ago, there'd be no investment while the site's future was in doubt. )
A huge Morrisons is in walking distance & has cheap fuel.

The mixed reviews for this site made me think twice about booking it but as we are CAMC members and have used numerous club sites over many years felt reassured to book.
No need to worry. Well established site (with an impressive array of mature trees) in the town so easy walking distance to all Ayr has to offer.
Large, flat, well drained pitches (it’s been very wet over the last few days) and clean facility block (with private basins which we both really appreciate). What more can you ask for?
I grew up in this area but haven’t visited for about 30 years. The High Street no longer has the big stores I remember but the rest of the town is unchanged and the seafront and harbour improved.
If you have children the Heads of Ayr Farm Park (not walking distance but an easy cycle) looks like a great day out.

Great weekend at this site. It is quiet yet it is close to the town centre and the beach, both of which can be reached by a riverside walk.
Facilities block was kept spotless but it is very old and tired. It was difficult to mop the floors because of the tiling, so that end of the toilet block was often very damp.
The staff were friendly.
We had a good visit to nearby Dumfries House where the gardens were beautiful and the lunch in the cafe was very good.

First time we’ve came to Ayr and honestly not too impressed by this site at all. Reasonably sized site around 90 pitches and grounds could do with a bit of a revamp.
Untidy and overgrown in areas. Service points are old and basic. Not really much in the way of views.
The main issue is the facilities. The central block needs to be refurbished or better still, knocked down and rebuilt. They are old, a bit dingy (modern lighting would help) and the lack of water pressure is a major issue.
The showers in the male section had the worst shower I have used in my entire life. This is not first of the CAMC sites I’ve been to in the last year that has disappointed. Standards of acceptance of CAMC sites has fallen so much I won’t be renewing my membership at the end of the year.
On a positive, if you want to access Ayr, the 15 minute walk into Ayr is pleasant, but that does not make up for the facilities.
I won’t be returning.

Short walk into town. Facilities spotless.
Plenty places to eat in town. Nice and quiet

Quite nice site in an established location with trees and greenery.
Nice large pitches, however the facilities are woefully inadequate and time for an upgrade. 4 showers in ladies for 90 pitches, if it's busy, hardly any water pressure or decent temperature.
Ayr itself is a good walk away but sadly like a lot of places has deteriorated.
Served our purpose but would not return again.

It was good to get back Ayr after the restrictions of the previous years and the chance to visit some of the local attractions. Craigie gardens is surrounded by trees, has good sized, level bays in somewhat regimented arrangement and a single amenities block.
It's a fairly easy walk into town past new and impressive university buildings. The town has a good selection of shops and cafes however it has a rather 'past its best' look - not helped by the weather at the time of visiting.
From Ayr, it is a fairly straightforward drive to Alloway, the Robert Burns museum and Burn's cottage. Both well worth a visit and free to National Trust members. Slightly further south is the spectacular Culzean castle and grounds - also National Trust.
Overall, a good base for visiting Ayrshire and if you're fans of horse racing, Craigie gardens is an easy walk from Ayr racecourse.

O Find Site:- From the A77 town bypass take the A70 towards the town centre and at roundabout opposite Ayr Station turn right. Once over the river bridge, at roundabout take second exit onto B747 and continue to traffic lights where you turn right into Cragie Way. Continue to roundabout and take second exit and watch for campsite signs and a right turn to site.
Ayr Craigie Gardens is rectangular in shape and is surrounded by mature trees despite being in a semi urban environment set amongst various university buildings.
The 92 mainly spacious hardstanding pitches all accept awnings. To break up the rows of pitches colourful shrubs have been planted. There is one central toilet block, whilst its perfect clean and functional it does need an upgrade, the lighting in particular is poor and really needs to be updated to modern LED.
There are a couple of service points strategically placed around the site although they are a long way from some pitches. There is an open grill motorhome waste point in front of the toilet block. Electric points are convenient to pitches and are rated at 16 amps and use CEE17 blue connectors.
Some are the old twist and lock variety. There is no TV booster system which is a shame as the signal is only rated as fair and we did get some picture breakup using our roof mounted aerial. There is a small enclosed playground probably suitable for younger children.
Site wide WiFi is available which can be purchased online if you are not already a subscriber. We used our phones and found the 4G signal which was fine. There is a small information room near the entrance. Reception didn’t seem to have anything for sale which seems to be an increasing thread at Club sites.
The site is ideally situated for visiting Ayr which has a good shopping centre and a lovely sandy beach. There are also lots of opportunities to explore the coast both north and south. Ayr has a rail connection to Glasgow. Robert Burns birthplace and museum are on the outskirts of Ayr.
For food shopping there are both Morrison and Tesco supermarkets nearby and an M&S in the town centre.
