Great weekend at this site. It is quiet yet it is close to the town centre and the beach, both of which can be reached by a riverside walk.
I see that some reviewers have described Ayr town centre as a bit shabby and tired but we were pleasantly surprised at the variety and quality of the shops.
Facilities block was spotless and the staff were friendly.

Ideally situated just 10-15 minutes easy walk into the town centre and another 5 more to the beach.
Facilities typical, clean and well kept - a little old. Showers hot and fantastic high pressure.
Pitches are a good size on gravel, lots of trees overhanging.
For us the location makes the site, Ayr has plenty to do and see, the beach is fabulous and there is a great cycle track along the coast.
The walk along the river is great for dog walking and there is a another walk out of the gates.
All in all great site and will come back again.

A very well run park with very friendly staff.
A great site for a relaxing break, and only a pleasant fifteen minute stroll into the centre of the lovely town of Ayr, which has a great variety of shops, restaurants and Great little Pubs.
Not an expensive site, but very pleasant and very well run.
The beautiful Ayr beach is also within reasonable walking distance.
We will definitely return for another break in the future.

Part of visit on Scotland tour
Very nice clean site, friendly informative wardens, close to the college and river, walk to river and along great for dogs and quite interesting, town center just over the river bridge (cannot comment as did not visit)
Ayr sandy beach nice and quiet due to time of year.
Convenient for Troon ferry (10 miles) to Arran, took a day trip a lot to see in one day. (56 miles round with a few detours)
Had a ride out to Largs as it was the Viking weekend difficult parking but worth the effort.

Site is located close to the Ayr University and is of a standard you should expect of a Caravan & Motorhome Club Site. Pleasant & welcoming site wardens and the flower arrangements around the reception are very attractive. The tarmac at the gate entrance is rutted and uneven, care needed if cycling out.
Good Freeview signal and mobile reception, prepaid site WiFi available. Manic one-way road system around Ayr best avoided if going for a cycle ride. Pick up the local cycle path along the River Ayr and follow this into the town centre.
The NCR 7 crosses New Bridge (A719), turning left takes you to the seafront, right takes you through the port along some very rough roads, once out of the port area things improve.

This is a clean site, the facilities do need updating, but nothing will be done apparently as the lease is due to expire over the next year or so, so I guess they're waiting to see if it's renewed before they spend any money on the place, so fair enough.
As mentioned old showers etc but kept clean. 4 showers in the ladies, and quite a few washrooms. Only queued twice for a shower.
The site backs on to the university which was closed while we were there. About a 15/minute walk along the river into Ayr town centre, which I thought was really run down, and not very clean, lots of litter about. Beach was about a further 15 minute walk further on, lovely beach but the entire area needs some investment.
The site. Is like one giant car park hardly any grass, all tarmac and gravel.
We won't return.
