I had a wonderfully happy stay at this site. 28 days up to January 3rd, so right through the snow and ice. I last stayed here in 2001 and found that very little had altered !
In spite of the tiredness of the facilities, the Wardens, who were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful, and kept a great festive season atmosphere going throughout, keep these facilities spotlessly clean and looking as good and pretty as such elderly facilities possibly could.
Heating in the shower block would have been nice in this extreme weather, but the water was lovely and hot, so the thought of showering was worse than the reality !
The site was noisy, due to it's position so close to the main roads and recycling ( I think that's what it is ) plant but I was not disturbed by it, and the digital TV reception with freeview was perfect, as was the wifi connection using a dongle. This is a perfect location for Oxford City Centre.
Oxford New Theatre can be reached in 5 minutes by car at only 2.3 miles away, but unless taking a taxi and thus avoiding having to find parking, the costs are extortionate. I paid £23 for an afternoon and evening parking !
However, it's a pleasant, flat 30 minute walk or better still, the Oxford Bus Company sells a travel card, known as 'The Oxford Key' at £37 for 4 weeks unlimited travel on any buses in the local area and the park and ride centre is a 3 minute walk from the site.
I purchased mine from the Debenhams Travel Centre in Oxford. Regardless of any work done or not done to this site, I'd return like a shot.

This was our third stay on this site, the reason being purely down to it's close proximity to the city centre,as the site it self is looking really quite 'tired'. I still haven't really noticed the much talked about 'update' I thought it was getting! For me though the major downside is the lack of any hardstanding pitches, which means that at this time of year,y ou are required to pitch up along the site access roads. Not very good for what could, due to it's location ,be a flagship site (It's not the same league as some CC city sites,eg Baltic Wharf,Bristol).
Also, although not overly expensive, considering the time of year, it isn't exactly cheap either (Especially as we didn't even get a 'proper pitch').

Nice site easy to find.
In easy distance of Oxford either by foot or bus as bus stop is just outside caravan site.
Toilet block is a little scruffy and dated but does the job and was clean.
Got a very handy go outdoors at the entrance.
Can go to lots of places by bus and don't have to use the car at all. We didn't.
Staff we really helpful and nice.
Would return if wanting to visit the area again.

Friendly helpful Wardens. Site seemed very tight to move around -we had to move from the pitch we were given by the entrance as it was needed for a very large caravan that was arriving. Very convenient location - the Park & Ride bus is just over the road so we walked round Oxford in the glorious evening light. It's a noisy site, but the CCC Handbook does warn you - so close to the bypass and railway, it's unavoidable.
A few quibbles - There's only one toilet block for 80-odd pitches, so when it's closed for cleaning for 90 minutes in the morning, there's nowhere else to go: other sites have a disabled or family room that can be used if necessary. The Handbook says the site was upgraded in 2009, and I think they could have converted the far end of the long run of toilet cubicles into a disabled / family bathroom. I don't mind the toilets being dated, but the time switch turned the lights off in the morning so no-one could see to shower, put in contact lenses etc. In fairness, the Warden did come and switch the timer on when I told him.
We got the last EHU pitch, and the site was full next night so we had to move on next day. We'd (book and) come back for another visit to Oxford, but being in a motorhome we'd move on to other areas rather than using this site as a base - it wasn't so good that we were sorry to leave.

The site is situated within walking distance to Oxford along 1 road or better still the park and ride opposite takes about 5-10 minutes. The site facilities are ok but dated, the showers are small and you have no dry space to stand after a shower. Even accepting the site is close to a town so not in green fields it still has a very dour feel with no chilled-out feel. It is great if you are of a certain age who likes to watch TV in their caravan but if you like the outdoors and relaxing, grin and bear it and enjoy the location to Oxford. The reception staff were very friendly but the warden a little over-bearing- lots of questions and concerns about my awning. I had to get out of the van for what he could have explained without doing so.

We used this site as a base for attending The Reading Festival on two successive years.
It is very well set up and close to the Bus Station which we used to visit Oxford because we were warned that parking is very difficult in the City Centre.
We also got the train to the festival from the city and this journey was easy on our return too.
The shower/toilets and washing up facilities were clean and well maintained. The people that run the site were very helpful, patient and gave good advice. Not sure how child friendly the site is as we took teenage kids. We will be returning next year.

A lovely site that was clean and tidy despite the heavy thunder storms that caused local flooding. Staff were very helpful. The showers were clean and although dated were very functional.
Site was completely full when I stayed.
Very easy to get into Oxford by way of foot or bus.
The Go Outdoors shop next door was always very busy and had some excellent bargains in the sales.
The children can ride their bikes safely on site and mine made many friends from all over Europe who were staying on the site.
Will definitely come back again to explore the area more.

Excellent site with very helpful staff. Handy for Oxford, 20 minute walk to centre. Bit of noise from outside site, but to be expexcted fro location, so near centre.
Staff were very good and GO Camp shop next door, for emergency camping supplies. Toilets a bit dated, but perfectly OK for us. No complaints, well worth joining Club just for this site.

Stayed at this campsite for a weekend visit to Oxford.
The people that run the site were very friendly & helpful on arrival providing all the information needed to find your way around the site & what to do in Oxford. We booked well ahead & there was a sign saying it was full - but the tents were well spaced out which was good.
The site is well located for a visit to Oxford with the park & ride next door - although a much more pleasant way of getting to the centre is to walk down to Donnington Bridge and then walk in down the river to Folly Bridge.
My only complaint about the site is the night time noise from the neighbouring dairy yard & the railway. This is unlikely to bother anyone in a motorhome or caravan - so it seems a little odd that they've situated the tents right opposite the dairy/by the train line. The dairy clanks throughout the night whilst loading the milk floats & trains seem to use their whistle as the pass the site. So would be an idea to move the tents to the other side of the site - but otherwise take some earplugs if you're a light sleeper.
I thought the toilet block was pretty good with plenty of cubicles & good showers - though they could have done with some of those wooden floor boards to stand on in the showers as they seemed to flood every day.
There's not a lot of amenities near the site - The Duke of Monmouth is a short walk down Abingdon Road - but it's not one of Oxford's better pubs & there's also a chippy nearby but we didn't eat there. That said this wasn't an issue as you're spoilt for choice with Oxford just down the road.
All in all good site to stay at when visiting Oxford & we'll be back - just equipped with earplugs next time!

This is a perfect site for visiting Oxford City Centre. Site is behind Go Outdoors, and once you are in the site you really do feel you are in the middle of the countryside.
The pitches on site are extremely spacious, site wardens are very helpful and friendly. You've got everything you need on site, plenty of fresh water, showers, waste disposal.
We felt it took around 30 minutes to walk into town, but the park and ride is about 3 minutes walk from the site and runs until 8pm. Travelling back after this time you can still use your tickets on other public transport.
Plenty to do and see - if you fancy going further a field London is only an hour away on the train. Look to book online - we did for £8 return!
Plenty of pubs and restaurants all in walking distant and excellent fish and chip shop about 10 minutes walk.
First time we have visited Oxford would highligh recommend a trip and also a stay at the site.
