The location of this site is brilliant, not the surrounding area, which is pretty ugly and industrial, but the fact that Oxford is a very pleasant half hour walk along the river and the bus stop is right outside the door.
However, the site itself is not a campsite, it is a car park. I have never stayed anywhere with so little space or privacy. The customer service also left a lot to be desired - 'jobs worth' is the expression that springs to mind. The only redeeming feature about the site itself is the abundance of hot water in the shower block - provided you didn't need to use the facilities during the unusually long periods they were closed.
Since the service was so bad, I would normally boycott the site, but the location is so convenient we probably will end up going again.

Its location location location for this campsite. The nearest and handiest for visiting Oxford. Many bus services and about 10 minutes by bus to the city centre. There is a handy Tesco Express about 5 minutes walk away that do lovely warm croissants from about 7 a. M.
The site itself, once you enter past the out door shop is quite attractive with plenty of water points etc. Very little in the way of hard standing. The shower and toilet block, whilst clean and usable badly needs updating. There is a washing machine/dryer. No play facilities for children. There is a park and an indoor swimming pool a short bus ride/15 mins approx. Walk away. No motorhome waste disposal. Some traffic noise but we didn't find it intrusive.

This is a busy site just outside of oxford city, If you approach the site coming over the bridge you might miss the entrance as the sign post is covered by a tree, it is right beside the go outdoors entrance and actually shares their car park entrance. The site is dated but very clean, good access for wheel chairs and mobility scooters, buses run every 15minutes from outside the site into the city, 30 minutes on Sundays, nearest pub and shop about 10/15 minute walk on flat path.

Not expensive. Good showers -not push button which is good! The shower block was fine -not sure why people are so fussy about shower blocks -i mean how long do you spend there! As long as they are clean with hot water -which they were. Friendly site managers. On reading other reviews I notice that someone said a 20 minute walk along the river. We didn't notice the river so close -did I miss this? I would have thought it would take much longer to walk into Oxford, the 'start' of Oxford centre being Folly Bridge. We took the bus and also cycled into Oxford. Oxford is amazing ! I never realised that it had so many beautiful ancient buildings housing the many (around 47) educational institutions. Also all the bicycles! We cycled along the canal (which begins at Hythe Bridge Street). We just made it up to Wolvercote which didn't take long. 3 pubs there. The Trout Inn had a lovely location by the river. I will just deduct one point for the fact that we (and some others I noticed) arrived before 12 but had to wait until 12 to be seen and also the shower block is closed between 12 and 1. 30pm but apart from that it was excellent.

We had a great 8 days at Oxford site so convenient, wardens really friendly and welcoming, could not do too much for us, facilities a bit dated but always clean, cite clean and tidy at all times busy cite but well organised will definitely go again, the cite is very convenient for supermarkets, and the shops and restaurants in Oxford are great. A great little site for visiting Oxford. We missed the entrance, down the side of Go Outdoors store, through their carpark and the site is just behind.
Its an old site and the toilet / shower block is dated - but its very clean, piping hot showers and no push buttons. Laundry facilities, chem disp but no motorhome service point. Whilst wardens were a little apologetic of facilities they were fine and certainly wouldn't let it put you off visiting, to be fair the facilities are no worse than a lot of the older C&CC sites.
Wardens are top class, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable - a real credit to C&CC. When we stayed grass was still quite wet following recent bad weather so we were parked up on the little roadways that lead to pitches, perfect.
Park + Ride into Oxford goes from outside the site. You can also walk in along the river in 20 minutes. There is a Nisa and Tesco within 5 minutes walk plus a chip shop and a couple of pubs.
We visited Oxford and loved it - the Covered Market is a must, brilliant shops and cafes in a 1940's style market hall. The buildings of the university are stunning, get a free city guide and you can easily walk around the majority in a day.
We used the City Bus Tour and have to say its disappointing. At £14 per head for an hour we expected to see a lot - really it just did the same as we could have walked in an hour plus a couple of roads out to the railway station and Woodstock Road. Our advice is not to bother and see the city on foot.
If there is a downside to the site then there is a fair amount of noise from the railway which starts early and goes on late, traffic noise is not intrusive.
Whilst the site is old its well kept and well run, would not hesitate to recommend this one for Oxford or the surrounding area.

We visited this site for a long weekend at the end of half term with two small children. The site owners were very friendly and we had a choice of pitches and were guided on to it. The leaflet you receive on arrival details everything you need to know and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The site is near main roads and a railway line but we didn't find this intrusive at night at all. We were expecting the worst with the shower blocks from reading reviews but were pleasantly surprised to find them in full working order and very clean, especially given it was a muddy time of year, we didn't once go in and find anything dirty they were beautifully maintained. The block is dated but I've been in some lovely modern toilet blocks that an hour after cleaning are filthy, not the case here at all the owners use the facilities themselves and maintain them all day long. The showers aren't the greatest but they are enough to get you clean! We loved that we parked the car on arrival and didn't touch it until we departed. The park and ride is a doddle and there are walks around the area although we didn't go on any this visit. We also visited the nearby Duke of Monmouth pub which provided us with a good meal for a very reasonable price. We had a lovely weekend and will be back again next year.

A well kept and organised site. We were greeted by the warden and taken to our pitch, all the facilities were explained clearly. The showers and toilet block etc were kept immaculate, plenty of hot water. It rained heavily when we were there but although large puddles appeared it soon drained when the rain stopped and no problems getting off the pitch. Easy to get in and out of Oxford, using the park and ride bus from opposite the campsite. A ten minute walk takes you to the Thames towpath, there is a lovely lock at Iffley which is worth a look. Shop easy to reach on foot and it looks like a new supermarket being built a bit closer.
The campsite booklet was very comprehensive, explaining shops etc but unfortunately did not show where the drinking water taps were situated, a map of the site could be useful
We had a great 3 days despite the rain, and we will return I'm sure.

Our second visit to this site, chosen simply because of it's close proximity to Oxford which is, as previous reviewers have stated, easily reached by bus, bicycle or on foot. We didn't use any nearby facilities, other than a shop and the bus service, choosing instead to spend our time in the city. One local facility we would have definitely used had the weather been better is the outdoor heated swimming pool in Hinskey Park, about a 15 minute walk from the site. We recommend you walk or cycle there as parking appears to be quite limited. If you are visiting with children you may want to do this, or perhaps use the Local Authority park next door (you need to leave the site to access this) because there are no recreational facilities on the actual site.
Office/shop offers a very limited range of produce, but you can get essentials and much more at a mini market around the corner on the main drag into the city, no more than 5 min walk from site entrance. You'll also find a pub along here that serves meals, we didn't try it, but it looked ok. Regarding nearby shops, possibly one of the most unique features of this site is its immediate proximity to a camping shop, Go Outdoors.
Although we visit this site principally for its location, there are other thing to recommend it for. We have found it to be a relatively peaceful site, if you ignore the background drone of traffic, the occasional train and the emergency services' two-tone sirens. It's a nice size, level and well drained and surrounded by mature trees.
We have no issues with the dated toilet/washroom facilities, the reason for their condition has been well documented here, perhaps we're just not fussy types, but we find them perfectly adequate and as tent dwellers they are our only option for ablutions. Good undercover washing up facilities and chem toilet disposal point, refuse area information point complete the package.
The staff/managers deserve a special mention, they work tirelessly to ensure the cleanliness and smooth running of the site. Very friendly indeed.

Very good site the location is excellent with a bus stop and a park and ride just outside with buses every 10/15 mins. The site itself is fine even though they can only get yearly lease so haven't spent lots on money on it. ( Which I think the price reflects). The showers are clean as are the toilets and the water is hot. The site is very busy and the wardens are very good on site shop is handy. The walk into Oxford by the river is lovely only 40 minutes. Would go again I only hope the C and C club are able to keep this site.
