I will only write a short review. We stayed at this site for one night over the May bank holiday weekend. We turned up on spec but were very lucky to get the last pitch. It is a peasant site and to be honest the loos and showers are fine - I have seen much worse. The couple who run the site seemed quite friendly as well. However, I have to concur with other reviewers' comments about the noise from the dairy - it is awful. The site is handy for Oxford, so if you decide to risk it anyway - get as far away from the dairy as you can ! we hardly slept a wink all night.

We have stayed at this site many times over a number of years, even before it became a camping club site. In all these years I dont think the shower block has had any attention. The only reason we continue to use it is the fact its handy for Oxford. Its over priced for the standard of facilities and heaven knows what overseas visitors think. The staff seem to be typical of club staff and there word is law.!

The park and ride is really good.Plenty of places to eat in Oxford, its a pity local pubs are poor.

Not at all a large site with just 85 pitches, this easily accessible site appears well maintained, although the single toilet block has seen better days (wear wellies in the showers as the water, and those from the next cubicles, does not flow away too well!) Alongside the site is a children's playground, but I don't think it is accessible direct from the site. We didn't find the site warden as helpful as she might have been, although the opposite can be said of the chap who guided us to our emplacement.

Although not a 'city centre' site as described in the C & C handbook (actually on the southernmost outskirts), their description 'can be a little noisy' might be considered an understatement. You can indeed, during quieter moments, hear only the traffic on the A34 by-pass; this is usually overshadowed by the hum of the adjacent Dairy Crest depot, although that too is drowned out when their lorries run (for hours) the refrigeration units on the vehicles. The Dairy Crest noise does, however, cancel out the noise of the slower trains passing by, but the fast and the goods trains' noise and vibration is not so easily overcome. The trains' real party piece, however, is the ear-piercing blast from their horns - try getting the kids back to sleep when they do that at 7 a.M. Try to get a pitch on the east side of the site, which may be quieter.

Parking space in Oxford is at a premium, but the adjacent Park and Ride, plus a good evening service from normal buses, makes car use unnecessary. And a nice walk is the Thames towpath, which is not far away - turn left at the main road traffic lights and then turn right at the next traffic lights 100 yards further on as you walk towards town - turning south (right) onto the towpath takes you to nearby pretty Ifley lock (with refreshments available), passing a riverside pub and a nice cafe on the way. There is a newsagents/general stores a couple of hundred yards up the main road towards the city centre, and a useful outdoor shop at the entrance to the site.

Dog owners should be aware that although the site is indicated as `dog friendly', there is no dog exercise area on the site. Those not wishing to allow their dog to foul the site could go out to the main road and cross over at the traffic lights, where there is a wide rough grass verge running alongside the foot/cycle path. Just what you need if Bonzo gets taken short in the night.

Despite my comments, probably the best site for exploring the city of Oxford, but don't expect tranquility. We would go back again because of the site's accessibility and the ease of getting to Oxford, but not whilst we still have a dog.

The site is accessed by driving down a narrow road beside the "GO Outdoors" camping shop. The signs outside say "No Vacancies, bookings only" and another says "No late departures", all very sensible if the site had been at all full - which it wasn't. I got the impression that they were always there. This sort of set the tone for the site.

The site itself is flat and the grass well tended with the electrics close enough to each pitch. The pitches were large enough, although I did feel that the inch perfect precision with which I was expected to place my van was a little over the top. 12 inches inside my pitch was not acceptable, I had to move it.

There are few facilities on site - the toilet block was awful, smelly and dirty. We took turns in the Van rather than shower there.

The site is well situated for the Park and Ride into Oxford (Return: £2 per adult, kids free), and the town itself was lovely.

There is a great children's Ball & play park around the corner. As you have to walk along the main road to get there and the local kids were there we chose to accompany and then stay there with ours.

As we were leaving (along with everyone else) at about 11 on a Sunday, we got stuck in a traffic Jam on site. You have to drive through the shop car park, and it was full. According to a member of the shop staff (as I asked them to page the driver who had blocked the exit) its always like this at weekends.

All in all, a great visit to Oxford, but the site is not up to the club's usual standards.

Potentially an excellent site  -  very friendly and helpful staff.  Nicely laid-out site and very easy to get into Oxford either by bus or along the river, a lovely walk.  The adjacent 'Go Outdoors' store is a real bonus.  However, as others have noted, the toilet block is way past its sell-by date  -  not acceptable on a club site in the 21st century.  The staff do do their best to keep it clean but it's just not a nice place to be.  Several of the cubicles were out of commission, there were leaks from basins and it was in a very poor decorative state.  Cannot understand how the club can ignore this.

Superb location for seeing Oxford. The Park and Ride bus service is a few yards away from the site main entrance and provides a rapid and frequent service into the city centre.

If that's too mundane, a boat service runs from Iffley (about 15 minutes casual stroll) straight into town -but check times of operation. They were a little random when we were there, but it was out of season.

The wardens were very helpful and friendly and any negative comments are the fault of the club, not the wardens.

The shower block was below expected standards for a club site. They are in poor condition and desperately in need of cosmetic and remedial surgery. Having said that, they were as clean as the wardens could be expected to achieve.

Our pitch was level and spacious enough, although the site does feel a little cramped. The site itself is tucked behind an outdoors clothing store (good value - an excellent shop) so the approach is not the most attractive or easy to access.

Overall, a good site for visiting the attractions of Oxford, but the club are not doing their reputation any favours. Could do better.

Clean facilities and maintained very well. However I did find the staff too strict with their rules esp with regards to the toilets being cleaned 1 1/2 hours, not good when you only just got in the shower. Still I always did say I wanted to be 16 all over again and they all made me feel it.
Good location for the park and ride if you need to get into the city centre, good information available at the reception

Excellent stay at this site, clean facilities and really nice helpful staff. Access to Oxford is easy, loads of buses within 2 minute walk. An excellent traffic free cycle route, through the park and through a bit of built up area, with very little traffic, along the riverside and right into the main street of Oxford with hardly any traffic whatsoever, takes about 15 mins. All on the level.
Pub about 5 minute walk which does nice food and good beer, chip shop a bit further along the road.
You can hear some noise off the railway which passes nearby but I think would only disturb the very lightest of sleepers. There is a camping shop just at the entrance to the site which stocks quite a range of products. This is a site that we will be visiting again.

A really convenient, very clean and well laid out site.  It lacks character and landscaping (its a flat, neat city centre site) but the location is excellent: easy to reach from the ring road, a 15 minute walk to town,  or a 5 minute bus ride from town (with buses running up to midnight).  Its important to book at bank holidays as it can be very busy: that said - the helpful wardens very kindly squeezed our tiny camper onto a camping pitch when we made a last minute decision to join family on site.

There are not many campsites in the Oxford area and this is a noisy one. The site is near the A34 which is a very busy route, so expect traffic noise. The site also backs onto a railway line, which is not very busy but again expect noise. On the other side is a milk delivery depot which has refrigeration units running 24/7 and delivery vehicles loading and unloading early in the morning. Unfortunately the site does allow dogs, which again cause noise.

The tent section is fairly bumpy, and ants are a real problem. While the wardens were sympathetic, I had to move location twice to prevent ants crawling all over the tent. There is a park nearby but it is not very well maintained and dog foul is a problem.

On the upside the location is in Oxford itself and walking into the city centre is easy. There is a small stream which runs down one side of the site which is nice. The shower block is well maintained and clean. There is a large shop on the front of the site for all camping / caravanning needs. Water supply is available. I have stayed in much better sites but for a city location it’s not too bad.
