We stayed at Thriftwood in July and had a wonderful time. The owners had only been there about 7 weeks and were lovely and helpful.
We stayed near the children's park area which my children loved (aged 4 and 2).
Where we pitched wasn't level so for relative beginners to touring we had some help from a lovely Dutch family and used the yellow blocks (technical term!?).
There was a group of us made up of caravans and one family with a tent.
The clubhouse/pub wasn't open yet but we had a look in and looks like it will be a nice spot when it is.
Most of the machines in the games room were out of order too (not bothered by this).
The outdoor pool when we first used it was FREEZING and could only let the kids stay in for a short amount of time and my two year old didn't go in at all. However on the second day it seemed to be working and was beautiful and warm and enjoyed by all.
The showers and toilets are ok and warm but I think need a re-vamp which I believe the new owners are soon tackling.
There are some beauitful walks round there and we took a wak to a nearby pub (about a mile away) and had lunch and a few drinks - you can either go the road way or footpaths with stiles (not suitable for buggies/wheelchairs etc). There is a Co-op and fish and chip shop a short drive away and little villages and walks.
They do stock a few food items and sweets/chocs on site but we bought everything with us and took a trip out to the co-op.
We will be back very soon and can't wait to see how it develops.

My Family and I have stay here Twice in the last 6 weeks, This park has just been taken over and I've got to say that the whole family are trying to my this work.
Pool and showers are cleaned every day, kid play area, nice walks round the woods. Feels secure for the kids to play.
Mark and Sam are always running around showing people to pitches or helping someone, sorry did I say running (quad bike, thanks for the ride) and the rest of the family are always about helping.
If you have a problem on this site, don't complain after, the guys will try to sort anything.
We will hopefully be returning again before the end of the summer.

We went with 2 underfives and had a lovely time albeit only for one night. My husband had a driving experience at Brands hatch which is just up the road. The site is pretty smart and clean - there were a couple of rough patches but the new management have only been there for 7 weeks and are on top of everything. We booked late so the only pitches were at the bottom on a slope but we coped. And the adjacent picnic bench was a boon as we haven't yet got a table. The swimming pool was very welcome and the play area is lovely. When we went to get some milk in the morning they had run out but went and got half a pint from the house so we could give the girls some breakfast.
We would go back again.

Just got back from a wonderful stay at Thriftwood. The park is superbly kept and wonderfully clean. The pool is like a hot bath, the games room is well stocked, and the shop has fresh bread, milk, all the stuff you need and plenty for the kids. The new owners are lovely Genty and Natalie behind the desk at reception are very welcoming. And sam billy and mark are all so helpful I loved it and will be back soonm.

We came from Germany and had found this place by a searching machine as 'close to London'
It was our first stay in England, but immediately in front away: it was a very nice stay with the option to the return.
The camping place lies in Kent and has made curiously on many attractions, castles, leisure parks in the surroundings.
First we were impressed because of the nice pitches.
There are 2 possible kinds: Places on grass and places on hard subsoil.
Both are very nice and partly shady. The toilets and showers are flawless and clean and there is warm water without every fee.
The place has a small pool with heated water.
There are possibilities for the billiards and a day room.
In the adoption there are some well-chosen articles also for camping.
To London we went by the train and got a day ticket of Stansted railway station for 4 adults and a child for 28 British pounds.
It is the best way to go to London and to use all media like underground, coach etcetera.
Thus we have enjoyed London and a really nice, informally controlled and very friendly camping place near the capital.
If we are again in the United Kingdom, we will book certainly again this place.

Have just got back from a week at Thriftwood holiday park. My husband and I were in a 4 man tent, close to showers and laundry facility's because my husband is disabled, [although I understand it was a one off time as the main campsite is the usual position for everyone] I found just like your other reviewers, that the new owners Sam,Mark, and Billy very friendly and nothing appeared to be to much trouble (and believe me I tested them especially Sam)
One or two points ie the price I paid to pitch the tent per night was £18 then 2 friends came for 2 nights later in week which was another £20 even though they were staying in my 4 man tent, and the van they arrived in had to be left outside the barrier at a charge of £2.50 per night. Considering the club house was closed (opening soon) I felt it ended up a little bit expensive for me and I asked Sam if it wasn't fairer to charge per tent capacity as opposed to how many people stay unless they put another tent up.
But on a lighter note everything was kept immaculate from the toilets to the grounds, and I must mention lovely Natalie who was in reception come rain or shine answering the phone to potentially loads more visitors I'm sure.

This site is under NEW management. Whilst we did not know the previous owners, I doubt they could be more helpful than Sam and his family. They were totally committed to fulfilling our every need, (even offering to supply us with some strong tent pegs). The facilities at the site we very clean and well kept, with plenty of electric hook ups available. The pool was more like a warm bath! The local COOP is 10 mins drive away, with an ASDA up the road in Swanley, if needed.
My wife and I stayed for 3 nights, with the option given to us to stay longer if we needed. We were very impressed by their willingness to make the site as customer friendly as is possible. We recommend that you give this site a go!
We wish them every success for the future and look forward to going back later this year, firstly to experience the friendly welcome again and secondly to see what more has been done to the site.

We just spent a great weekend at this site. It's under new ownership and the new owners were very helpful and accommodating.
The pool was lovely and warm and all the facilities were clean and water nice and hot. There is small playground too.
We went to The Moat pub a short drive down the road. You do need to drive to get to shops and pubs. There is a co-op nearby and the owners can give directions.
The security was excellent - entry is by a barrier operated by a card.
Give this site a try. It was very spacious and we will definitely go back.

We came to this site because it was close to home and to try out our new tent. The site had recently changed management and whilst I didn’t know the previous occupants the new owners, Sam and Mark, were really helpful, accommodating and very enthusiastic. We chose not to have hook-up and as we were there at a quiet time could select where we wanted to pitch the tent. The toilet facilities were more than adequate for us and always kept clean. Didn’t try the camp shop because we had brought what we needed with us but there is a co-op and fish and shop nearby. The swimming pool was lovely and warm and a great hit with granddads and grandson. The children enjoyed the play area and there was plenty of room in the field for kids to run around.
Also being on the Downs and close to Trosley Country Park and the Pilgrims Way there are lots of walks to choose from.
Can see this being a regular local weekend getaway site.

This was the first time we had taken our children camping (4 & 2) and what a perfect site to visit. The site is clean, quite and very well priced. We chose this site as they were very flexible on the number of nights you had to stay. We didn't use the pool but it did look very clean and I would use as and when we go back. I am sure the new owners will do a great job, they appeared to be very customer focused, we wish them every success. We will be going back, for longer and with friends.
