Nice, but basic campsite, this one. Friendly feel to it, some lovely site dogs. Toilets adequate, electric hook-ups fine.
Lovely views out over the water towards Isle of Lewis to wake up to.
Uig isn't the biggest place, with just one shop, a brewery and a pub. The shop is relatively well stocked if you didn't stock up at Portree or Broadford. The brewery produces excellent beer which is available at the pub near to the campsite, Bakur Bar. We didn't eat but the food looked good too.
There's also a hotel, Uig Hotel across the other side of the bay near the folly with excellent views.
The campsite cost £18 for four people, electric hook-up and a motorhome.

Stayed here last week for 5 nights. Very friendly owner and dogs. Toilet facilities basic but clean, and maintained at least twice a day. For £4 per person per night great value! Good views from further up the camp site. There are 2 pitches at the side of the B & B which have great sea views more or less situated on the shore (Will try and book this spot next time) Well situated for ferry, fishing from the pier, lovely sunsets, local pub serving food (we never tried here) went to pub further up the road, within walking distance.
We were a little put off reading previous reviews but thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return.

People very friendly and helpful but was a bit dissapointed about the website pics, thought we'd be able to camp at the waterside but was in main park which was ok but not the sea views I had thought there would be. Toilets and showers ok water hot. Had nice lunch at the B and B round the corner and bbq at night. The pottery shop is nice and the beer shop is worth a visit if you like sampling real ale. Would stay again but only if we needed to catch the ferry

Nice site - if you park rear end away from the port you have a nice view of the ferry arriving/departing and the sunsets. Warm welcome and good facilities. There is a B & B just round the corner that does a smashing cooked breakfast. The pottery and the beer shop are well worth a visit so is the small Tourist info tucked away behind the petrol station next to a woodworking place. Would return.

There is nothing wrong with this campsite but I did feel their website painted a slightly different picture than the reality. We stayed just one evening, to catch the ferry the next day and didn't use the camping field, which was quite nice although sloping in places. Instead we stayed at the bottom of the field on the un grassed section- by 8 o clock it was literally like being on a car park with loads of motorhomes parked right next to one another. The only views to be had must be from higher up the field because lower down there certainly aren't any, which is why I think the website paints a different picture. The owner is very friendly. I would only use this site as a stop over.

A pleasant little campsite this one. Friendly owners, who also offer cheap food (burgers, B Butties, etc.). There is a shop nearby and a pub/restaurant also around the corner (food not great in here though, better to eat in the campsite or the hotel up the road). As several reviewers have pointed out, both the shop and pubs run at very odd times around here, as is typical in many small towns. In terms of transport, the bus stop and ferry terminal are both within a few minutes walk. One disadvantage is that the ground is a little boggy, and inclined at the top of the campsite. The facilities (toilets, showers, laundry, etc.) are average, but for what you pay in this campsite its still value for money.

Pleasant site with adequate facilities almost adjacent to ferry terminal. Isle of Skye real ale brewery 150 yds away. Lovely location and very helpful owners. Had to walk 1m+ to Uig Hotel to sample the local beer as none was on sale in the pub next to the brewery!

Good campsite which is situated right next to the ferry terminal, We sat outside our tent and watched the ferries come and go. The showers and toilet block are adequate. Laundry was really good and reasonably priced. The pitches are very large and the pitch prices very cheap. Cycle hire is available at the camp site it you fancy a ride out. The warden and his family are extremely friendly and welcoming. Ice packs are frozen for a donation which goes to charity. They serve snacks from 7am - 9pm which is handy if you dont have any food with you as there is no where to buy any food in Uig after 8.30pm. The petrol station closes at 8.30pm and the local pub at the ferry serves till 9pm but its not very clean and the food is not recommended. There is another eating place up the road about one mile but you have to book a table as it does get full. There is a cafe which opens at odd hours. In Uig itself there is nothing else, you do need to get out and about to see the Skye. If you fancy having a ride to Portree its well worth the ride its a lovely little town with lots of little cafes and if you fancy catching the ferry to Mallaig you can ride to Armadale and catch the ferry, make sure you arrive early and take a snack at the little cafe at the ferry terminal its called 'The Shed' you can sit outside and watch the ferries come and go for a few hours!

This site is immaculately clean and well cared for! Although set away from the main part of the village it is not far to walk to obtain essentials. There is a small brewery and pottery nearby but the 'beach' is very rocky and not suitable for children to play on. Martin is an excellent chap who helps out in every way he can. Beware the top part of the site as there is a very boggy part which is signed but can catch one out!

What a lovely site! Clean, well cared for and Martin and his family were so friendly and helpful. I would happily recommend this site to anyone - only I'd like to keep it to myself so it doesn't get too popular! It's lovely, too, to watch the ferries coming in and out of Uig harbour and of course very near if you are catching one over to Tarbet in Harris. The showers are brilliant - free with a push knob - and lots of lovely, powerful, hot water, though a stool / pull down bench in the two general showers would have been even better. I used the disabled shower as I had a bad back and needed the space. Best campsite we encountered during our holiday - Lewis and Harris campsites need a kick up the backside regarding their campsites - only three "official" sites in the Outer Hebrides and a fourth, south of Tarbet, that was indescribably bad (not listed anywhere, just camping symbols on the ordinance survey map). It's better to catch the ferry back to this Uig campsite, or vice versa, rather than stay anywhere in Harris. We did on the last night of our hols - and it felt like "coming home"!
