This was our first visit and we couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more if we tried. The weather was very much against us for a couple of days but other than that a fantastic time. The front office staff were very helpful and we found the toilets/shower blocks very clean and tidy. We stayed for 5 days and were lucky as we pretty much had the place to ourselves (only 3 other tents). North Berwick itself is a lovely place and if you get the right weather you can spend days exploring the area. There is a superstore within a 10 minute walk whch provides everything you need. We didn't eat out whilst we were there but as we are going again in June 2007 we will probably try eating out more.

Nice clean tidy site, kids loved it.freedom to ride their bikes! A bit of a walk to the beach though, the right of way goes through a golf course, and the grumpy golfers don't an audience. The site has full hook-ups, 10A electric, water tap and drain at a limited number of pitches. Toilet block was clean enough, but the small shop has limited stock. Kids playground is good, and closes at 9pm, for some quiet.

We (2 adults and a teen) received a very welcoming attitude from the initial phone call about fifteen minutes drive away (at 7.30 p.m.), with no booking. On arrival a number of possible pitches were pointed out to us on the map of the site. As the camping field was full we chose a site off to one side, close to an ablution block. In general the ablutions were clean, and we noticed a cleaner in every morning. We were very thankful for the well treed, protected camping area, as we received a good 36 hours of heavy wind and rain. The site was well drained with no buildup of water, for which we were thankful. During our stay of one week, our first time in Scotland, we found the staff very helpful and friendly, and the shop in reception very useful! I would definitely recommend this site.

This is a nice family campsite. The site wasn't very busy the weekend that we were there so there was plenty of open space for the kids to run around and play games. I dont think I would've enjoyed the site as much if it had been full - the allocated pitch space seemed quite small. The toilets were ok - they were working and clean enough. There were a couple of soap dispensers that weren't working even though you could see they were full of soap but otherwise I couldn't really fault it. The beach is a (very steep) 5 min walk which definitely isn't suitable for buggies or people with bad backs. The beach was brilliant - the kids enjoyed looking for crabs in the rock pools and flying their kites. You can even walk into north berwick along the beach and check out the RNLI lifeboat centre and the seabird centre. The staff were friendly and helpful and there was lots to do nearby. We would definitely return to this campsite.

Visited site over the weekend. Thoroughly enjoyed the view, play area, beach only 5 min walk (hard for buggies). Toilet and shower facilities were adequate for the tent area but I would suggest the better toilet block located within the caravan area as they have larger cubicles with basins. The pitching arrangements are as other writers have expressed very crushed. We arrived around 2pm on the Friday and it was a free for all. There are designated pitching areas but because it was so busy everyone crushed in and if you wanted your car out well forget it! Not convinced of the 5 star rating but good for a couple of days stay as views are incredible.

Stayed on site May bank holiday with friends and family (all male group of nine aging from 35 to 70) made to feel extremely welcome. We had an excellent weekend. All facilities where very clean and well maintained.excellent site for visiting Edinburgh as there is a good train service from North Berwick (so no need to use the car). Train journey to Edinburgh was approx 30 min

There was a very large area of grass pitches for tents, and the pitches were in great condition, however the views of bass rock benefits the caravans and motor homes, you can only see trees from the tent pitches. I couldn't find the path to the beach but its only a 5 min drive. There were lots of toilet facilities, and the toilets by the wood wigwams have a plug socket that is useful for hairdryer/hair straighteners. The showers were clean and hot. There is a good size play park for kids, and there is plenty of space for them to run around. There is also a games room which had a pool table, an air hockey table and some arcade games. The shop is small but well stocked, there wasn't a pub on site and I couldn't see one near by. The tent area was quite busy and was noisy up until when it got dark, but it was just people sitting outside chatting. All in all a nice site.

Just come back from a 2-night stay here with two other families (7 children ranging from 4 to 10). All new to camping and had read reviews of this site so thought it would suit us well. It was ok but we certainly wouldn't rave about it like the other reviews seem to do. Firstly, the relaxed pitching arrangements meant that it seemed quite crowded, and we weren't given any advice of where to pitch which would have been appreciated. The play park had good equipment but is not within view of the tent fields which meant the children could not go on their own, and there was no grassy area for them to play ball games or similar. The loo blocks were dated and not terribly clean or well cared for (lack of soap in some, hand dryers not working, unreliable showers in the gents). The ones for the tent field do not have individual cubicles with showers, toilets and sinks together. Other than cleaners on the first morning, we saw no-one from the site checking things (and no cleaners the second morning). Great location - we enjoyed our time on the beach, and the second night we had the tent field to ourselved which was nice! - but the only site we have to compare it with is Blair Castle which was a much easier site to go to with children

This is a very nice site with excellent sea views from most areas including out towards the Bass Rock. North Berwick can be accessed by a pleasant walk along the beach and has plenty to do, including the excellent Seabird Centre. There is lots to do in the surrounding area as well, including castles at Tantallon and Dirleton. The campsite facilities are excellent, with clean toilets and showers (the shower cubicles also contain a sink, mirror and toilet which is an excellent idea), a good play areas for the kids and a putting green and games room. The site has a large field for caravans and motorhomes and this contains quite a few hardstandings. Quite a number of the pitches are sloping though however this area has the best views. There appeared to be a couple of tent areas and one of those looked pretty flat and appeared to have hookups as well. Overall a very nice site and well worth a visit.

We visit this site two or three times every year. The views are second to none and the pitching arrangements are very relaxed, you just choose your own pitch when you arrive. Anyone can walk into town in half an hour. You can choose between walking along the road (not too busy) or over the golf course then along the beach. There are buses stop outside the gate. We live and work in Edinburgh but in the summer hols we often have a week here and just go off to work some days.
