Returned to this beautiful campsite after an absence of about 4 years - delighted to see it's as good as ever, even when it was crowded over a weekend the facilities coped and there was plenty of hot water and no queuing for showers etc. I'm surprised to see no-one has written a review about this site this year so far. Maybe like me, people are a bit reluctant as we'd prefer to keep this wonderful site a secret! There's lots to do round and about including walking along the beach from the campsite to the delightful little town on North Berwick, going to see the Concorde now at the excellent Museum of Flight at East Fortune (booking for a "Boarding Pass" is essential before arriving), visiting the beautiful Dirleton Castle and gardens, enormous Sunday Market at East Fortune, or just lazing around the campsite, reading. Heaven! Will definitely be returning some day.

Have just come back from a night here, its a very nice site close to the beach. Toilets with hot water, clean and cared for. Very much a family site with a good playpark(flying fox!)so was noisy until about 11pm. Has a small on site shop and is very close to north Berwick with a good fish and chip shop. Will definitely go again soon.

Just returned from a few days at Tantallon and thought the site was great. Toilet and showers more than adequate and although busy never seemed to be q's for the showers. The beach was a 10 min walk along a path and down round the edge of golf course. The beach is lovely, my two kids 4 and 2 had a great time. They also met lots of friends which kept them happy and gave me time to read which never happens at home! Childrens play park was good.
Would recommend this site to families.Fairly quiet at night although we went during the week so cannot comment what its like at busier weekends. North Berwick itself is a pretty little town close to Edinburgh so a great base for sight seeing and visiting the capital and all that it offers. Good selection of restaurants too and nice shops, with a lovely big park in the centre. We will be going back soon I hope.

On the whole we were slightly disappointed with this campsite. The grounds are lovely, we pitched our tent on a lovely big expanse of grass & there were some beautiful views. The beach was a 10 minute walk away and there was a somerfield shop a 15 minute walk away.
The campsite does have a reasonable sized shop, although we found that we had to check our change everytime we were served by a particular person as it was always short!
The toilets & showers were generally clean, however the mens toilets near where we were camping often got swamped with water and god knows what else. We think there might have been a leak somewhere. The ladies showers near where we were staying weren't at all powerful. The ladies in our party all ended up walking to the showers at reception.
The actual campsite was of a good standard, but we found that it wasn't very well organised. When we arrived we were told to pitch anywhere, it seems everyone was told something similar as no-one used the marked pitches. At busier times we struggled to get our cars out. We would have preferred if we had been allocated pitches. One of our party had to leave early, and his empty pitch was soon pitched on by another party dispite him having already paid for it. There were also tents from other parties within 6 metres of ours (1 metre approx), we felt that they should have been told to move for saftey reasons.
Another point of concern that we had was a broken lower window in the games room. This pane was left unboarded up for four days and was still broken when we left. The childrens play area was situated only a few metres away from this and a child could easily have cut themselves on the broken glass.
The campsite itself was good (although I'm not sure it was a five star campsite as per their website - we have stayed in better), however we felt that we didn't enjoy our camping as much as normal due to the points mentioned above.
We intend to feed this back to the campsite in the hope that they can improve the service that they provide. This should not deter people from visiting as it was a nice area and the campsite was still of good standard.

March 2004 This was not the first time we have been to tantallon I may add! It's a lovely big site with not really that much in it but the scenery all around makes up for the rest. The shower blocks are spotless, so is the campsite grounds. Tantallon overlooks the golf course, the sea & the Bass Rock & Morrisons isn't that far away for all your groceries too. Best site around.

18-20th June 2004 Beautiful very spacious caravan park over looking the Bass Rock. Very clean and well kept site. There is a games room and play park for the kids, as well as a on-site shop and laundry. Very good park for disabled users as it has disabled toilet and shower. It also has many toilets and showers so there is no need to be waiting to get in for a shower in the morning! The only dis-advantage about this park is that it is not in walking distance of the town centre of North Berwick, so a car is neeeded when staying on this site. The advantage of this being that because it's not in the town centre you don't hear any noise at night. We would definately use this site again and recommend it to anyone, we had a lovely weekend here!

June 2001 We visited here as a last minute getaway, it's only an hours drive from home. The tent field was great (not too far to walk to showers/toilets) plenty of space for kids to run about play games etc.

Aug 2002 I have used this site for weekend breaks for a few years now in our caravan (which we have now sold and will be using a tent this year!) There is a good playpark for the kids and the toilet/showers are excellent - really nice and clean. Lovely views over the Forth - a nice relaxing place to be.
