This was a large, well managed site. Booking and arrival procedures were very efficient, and we were delighted to find that our pitch had been rearranged for a better one as the site was quiet. The caravan field has truly stunning views! Plenty of facilities, the important ones all of a good standard, though the games room was quite run down. The men/boys in the party were slightly perturbed that all the toilet cubicles for men seemed to be in the shower cubicles, had the site been busier this might have led to queues. Toilets and showers were clean and well looked after. Laundry was fine, and outdoor drying area was a nice touch as tumble dryers were expensive. The location was perfect, a lovely walk down to the shore, and a bit further to the railway station, from where trains ran to Edinburgh hourly.

We used this site for a week whilst I was working at The Open.
The welcome we received was very friendly. I explained that my wife would be staying on the site while I was away all day and asked if we could move to a site with a better view, which they sorted out. The site was on quite a slope, so we had to use double chocks to get level.
There are plenty of toilets and showers.
The washing up area is quite exposed, so it does get chilly.
Great play areas for children.
Lovely walks along the cliffs (not dangerous) and lovely coves to explore.
Fantastic views and sunsets.
Great bus service to Edinburgh from the Tesco which is only five or so minutes away along a safe path.
Thoroughly recommended, although it was a bit pricey, probably because of The Open.

Arrived at Tantallon on Friday and we usually have a pitch in the first area but as that was full we had pitch 16 which was good. Our electric hook up was too short but they kindly let us borrow an extension lead which we were grateful for. Noticed the toilets had hooks on the doors which is helpful instead of hanging your clothes over the door. Toilets were very clean but think parents should supervise their children in toilet area as some were not flushed and toilets rolls put down the toilet but that is not the campsites fault it's the parents. The sink area to wash dishes is clean and always plenty of hot water. It is a lovely walk into North Berwick through the golf course and along the beach, there are plenty of shops to browse through and some nice pubs and we were lucky that it stayed dry. Tesco and the Co-op are just along the road from campsite. We have used this campsite on many occasions and will return in the near future as we think it is one of the best we have ever used.

As we are newbies to touring, we decided to have a first weekend not too far from home to try out the van. We did this in the hope it would give us the opportunity to find any glitches and help us work out what we would need before we venture out further afield.
We travelled from Edinburgh to Tantallon in just over an hour to a warm welcome at reception. There, we found an abundance of leaflets of things to do and a children's play arcade. However, this is only opened at reception times when the site occupancy is low.
The pitch we were allocated was with Electric Hook Up, a hard standing with space for an Awning, all of which were great. We have learned to bring levelling ramps as what appeared to be straight. Isn't!
Only one member of our party opted to use the shower block, but was told it was clean, tidy and heated.
There is a direct path from the site(across a golf course) to North Berwick Beach. This is a great walk which will take you to the town center too.
There is also a Tesco store 5 minutes walk from the park entrance, which is great for anything you forgot to bring.
All in, a nice site.

First time at this site and have to say it is ideal. The views are fantastic from your pitch. No shop on site but supermarket 10 mins walk down the road. Toilets were cleaned every day and are all you could ask for. Good dog walk area and ideal walk to the beach or town along shore front. Will return to this site later on in the year. Our pitch was hard standing with full services. Town was ideal with plenty of shops and all the pubs were dog friendly, entertainment on 2 of the pubs Friday and Saturday if that is your thing.

PROS:
Location is great with a nice walk or cycle ride down into North Berwick via golf course.
Tesco is a stroll away along the road.
Views excellent for caravanners.
Sheltered from wind by trees for campers.
Good play area for kids.
Lots of very clean and well maintained toilet blocks for campers.
Very attentive staff.
CONS:
No shop.
Campers don't benefit from the views.
Camping pitches can get soggy. Recognised by fact that you are asked not to drive on grass in tent area.
Some of tents were a distance from hook-ups.
No outstanding facilities considering how expensive it is.
Main road (60mph) runs alongside the site.
Some camping pitches back onto gardens of houses, though heavily hedged.
OVERALL:
Very nice site for vans and motorhomes, but not quite as good for tents. Don't expect that value for money you would get on the continent.

Site generally very good.
Plus points
Location is to die for with sea views, boarders a golf course, fantastic little town of North Berwick & some of the best beaches I've ever seen, lots to see & easy access to Edinburgh via train.
Negative points
Site is very expensive particularly if you have a dog & we have two but the location just about makes it worth it,
Main toilet block though clean is not the most modern I've seen & a refit wouldn't hurt, lavatory's in shower cubicles hardly ideal or favourable,
No on site shop as such unless all you want is sweets,
Risk of flooding on grass pitches at bottom of hill though luckily the weather was excellent for us.

A lovely site, with excellent views, along the Forth, to Isle of May/Bass rock, and over to Fife, just a 15 mins walk into North Berwick along the golf course/10 mins from the sea.
The site is very well laid out, with caravans / motorhomes one end of the site and tents the other.
Plenty of toilets and showers, can be a bit breezy for the caravans etc but the tenters are a bit more sheltered.
A small play area for the kids, but good for them getting around on their bikes, a small shop, but Tesco just 10 mins walk away is very handy.

Recently stayed at Tantallon campsite for a few days from 30. 6. 12 in a tent. The receptionist was surly, and indifferent. I said we were going to reduce our stay by 2 nights as the weather was so awful and the chap on reception said they 'had been lucky with not that much rain' then he went on to say we had been moved from our original booked pitch due to flooding!
The shop was just reception with drinks and sweets but Tesco is 5 minutes away.
The field where we were put was OK but rather wet in the entrance with standing water.
Main road was behind us with loud traffic, no sea views only the back of numerous beige caravans!
The nearest toilet block (which was reception) had ONE toilet and two showers ONLY. The next nearest toilets/showers were 4/5 minutes away at a brisk walking pace!
The general site was OK, toilet/shower blocks were basic and not that clean despite the fact that by the tues we were the only tent left camping, mainly due to the weather I assume. I wouldn't like to be there if it was busy if loo's were not clean when it was quiet.
The chap on reception appeared disinterested when I went back to ask for a map of the area, no conversations or suggestions of where to visit etc.
Would I go back? Probably not nor would I especially recommend the place.

When we turned up we were expecting great things, and we were slightly disappointed.
Firstly the camping grounds are near the main road, (which to be fair is quiet after 9ish). You can also see the back of houses through some trees. All of this made us a bit worried about where we'd come. I think we're so used to camping in the middle of no-where, and Tantallon is not quite. We were also expecting sea views which we didn't have (I think we've been spoilt slightly with the campsites we've visited!)
Anyway, once we'd got over our initial disappointment, the site is not bad.
There's an OK kids playpark, and amusement arcade.
The toilet blocks are in a good state although could do with being cleaned more than once a day.
The drainage on the site whilst not awful, in a couple of fields could be addressed.
The shop is not a shop. It's just a reception which sells sweets and drinks, but Tesco is 5 mins walk away.
In terms of location (apart from the road an houses) it's pretty good, and is a 10 minute walk across the golf course to the beach, then another 15 mins into North Berwick.
So would I return? Maybe. If I could not get booked anywhere else which I know and like, but I'm guessing in peak season it gets really busy as it's so close to Edinburgh, so probably wouldn't return in a hurry.
