Great site withthe flower tunnel serving coffee and snacks, toilets and showers spottless refurbished I understand. Only a short walk from the front at Applecross and the inn. What a night we had in there music to boot and the menu is to die for.
One word of warning though after a night on the amber nectar DO NOT take the shortcut beside the pub back to the campsite - it is treacherous as I found out ending up in Raigmore hospital inverness with a broken ankle. So a two night stay turned into one. But in the words of Douglas Macarthur I shall return.

The camp site was lovely loads of space and very well run. Although the toilets were a bit out of date and not a lot of space to put your clothes in the shower. I found it difficult showering two small children and then myself in the space available. But the water was hot and it was a powerful shower. If you are going there stock up on essentials as there is only a small shop in the village and nothing else for miles and miles and miles. But absolutely wonderful. Enjoy.

Whilst this is a nice enough campsite the details do need updating: I went for my 40th birthday and so much wanted to like it more. There is no longer a shop, as described, at the site and so the only way to get anything fresh is to use the "village" shop, or drive back to Lochcarron (18ish miles). The only way a sane person would attempt this is fearing for his life from imminent starvation. The pass would strike fear into the heart of a mountain goat, with Vibram hooves and full suspension. We had visibility down to 30-40 feet in the middle of July, and with the passing places and hairpin bends this is not for anyone who values their life too highly.
There is also no longer a bakery as such, and fresh bread, croissant etc are no longer fresh baked, although there are sublime pastries. So Happy Shopper it is then.
The site is clean but strangely soulless. It is also a bit pricy, at £18.00 for a tent with just us and 2 kids, for what you get which is effectively a piece of grass and the possibility of a shower. The village, charitably, consists only of a very nice cafe (The Potting Shed); an expensive, but well rated pub, and the shop, which is like village shops anywhere. Nice enough but hardly worth heaping praise upon.
A lot of the people when we were there seemed to be stopping just the one night and then going on to other sites where there was at least a small park for the children to play in etc. If it wasn't so out of the way it would be ideal for this purpose. The basic problem is that it is 2 plain fields the other side of a nightmare crossing beside a perfectly serviceable bay but nothing nicer than the several hundred you have to drive through to get to it. Good pizza (nice cafe generally)and friendly staff but overall disappointing.

June 2003 We have been here several times now, and it is a lovely site for camping. The mountain pass means that there are few caravans (as they have to come around the coast road), and there is plenty of space. The toilet facilities are basic, but clean. The flower tunnel provides an escape for some food and drink, and there is always the pub down the hill in the village. If it is quiet there are sometimes deer to be found grazing in a corner of the site. Highly recommended.

June 1999 If you are touring Scotland this is a must visit site, if only for the spectacular road, both over the pass of the cattle and along the coast. It's best first approached from the south where the first view of the pass of the cattle conjures the thought that there is no way they could possibly have built a road up that mountainside! Caravans are rightly prohibited and have to approach from the north. The site is quiet and pleasant, surrounded by trees to shelter you from most of the wind whilst still affording some view. Deer frequently wander around the edges of the campsite.

May 2003 This site is an absolute gem! Loads of space with a "pitch where you like" policy, gorgeous views looking over Applecross bay and the most amazing journey you will ever have to any campsite driving over Balach na ba. This site is very remote so if you plan on cooking it's best to bring a good deal of food with you as there is no good sized supermarket for about 40 miles in Kyle of lochalsh. If you do want to eat out though there is a lovely pub 5 mins walk in Applecross, they have a good menu and the food is gorgeous. On the site itself they have a flower tunnel which you can sit in and enjoy the snacks and treats they do. The showers and toilets are basic but very clean and the showers are hot and free. I have to say that this is probably the best campsite I have ever been to, not just becuause of the site itself but its location. So if you are thinking of going up to the north west Highlands I highly recommend this site, you will not be disappointed!!

June 2003 This was now my fourth visit to this most enchanting part of the world. Briefly, This site has everything the traveller would want. Electric hook ups, massive open space for those not bound by a 3 pin plug, Two shower blocks either end of the site (These do not require tokens so you can use them any time!) Token washing machines and dryers, views towards Skye and the islands, the sunsets are spine tingling. I will add more about this site when I find the time so please check again
